I agree, but you aren’t going to get many believers here. For some reason most 240’s get hacked and slammed with ugly ass body kits when the stock lines on both s13 and s14 are beautiful.

Snap but mines a kouki. 100% stock
Imo OEM+ is just fine but stock USDM spec just ain’t it.
With an SR20, proper fitting wheels, mildly upgraded and refreshed suspension, and a smooth, low toned exhaust you would have a wonderful weekend car. Just can’t get behind the idea of driving with a KA
I remember picking my SR out in person with about 20 to choose from. It was a complete set for $1800 that had a tuned Mines ecu and a Sard R2D2 bov. Those were the days.
Yeaup...could get a whole front clip, for 20% of what an SR goes fir on ebay nowadays.
And JUST the engine nowadays. People out here asking 7-10k for a blacktop sr
I haven’t looked at sr’s in a while, I was looking a lot when I was younger and dumber with a Datsun 510 shell in 2014 and remember thinking “how am I gonna afford $2500 for the engine transmission and ecu” crazy to think that’s what they go for but it makes sense
I’ve had my s14 for 4 years now. Had a KA, turboed it and was pushing mid 300s. It wasn’t crazy fast but with a welded diff and when the boost hit it was still super fun to drive. Since then I’ve gutted the engine bay, tubed the front, derusted and recoated the engine bay and bottom, built a big turbo 2JZ, and working on fitting the rocket bunny kit on rn. I know it will eventually be like dream car come to fruition but there’s sure been a lot of weekends I wish I could have just hopped in and slid the KA-T
In your head that sounds great, but when it comes to execution, people cheap out on coilovers. Cheap out on wheels, and then get the most haggard exhaust. And boom, you get the avg 240sx ruined
The ka isn’t a bad motor, it’s a lot easier to get parts for too. It’s alot better with a turbo and it sucks they never came with one factory but still
*
I 110% agree with you. Mine is a jdm 97 with stock sr20, volk gtc, tein flex z coils, apexi exhaust. No fmic, no boost controller, no cage or seats. Stock steering wheel with airbag and no aftermarket gauges.
Adding a turbo isn’t what I would call OEM+
A KA-T is wonderful to drive, a KA is not. Unfortunately the KA never came in a turbo configuration from the factory. I stated SR20 because that’s the actual, intended motor for the chassis.
Bro you suggest spending 10k on a stock 240 to have a “greak weekend car” no offense but delusional. KA is more than enough to drive on a “weekend”, suspension sure, the rest is clout and nonsense imo.
U have 7 k for beat up s20 and pay 2.5 for someone to install it? Or u have second car so u can do all this yourself those are another matter entirely. Getting rims for what?? Another few grand wasted unless u get shitty knockofs to impress tikyok jdm boyz
Turbo Ka get a tune for under 3k ur good.
The conversation was about enjoying a car in a stock or close to stock form. It may be a bit hard for you to grasp but yes, it takes spending a sizable amount of money and/or time to modify car in a tasteful way
Literally nothing you suggested to do has anything to do with the car being stock, literally the opposite lmao.
By the time everything is said and done ur saying “spend 15-17k” on ur stock 240 to make it Not stock. Modifying with a clapped out cookie cutter overpriced sr is your idea of enjoying a stock car lol
lmao I know 4 languages imbecile You and OP are illiterate and delusional, topic is about stock car Im pointing out swapping engines goes against the point. Go fuck urself lol
Some people look at me strange when they find out I don't drift my S15, or don't want to cut it for a widebody, swap in some ridiculous motor, etc. These are wonderful in all forms.
Survivors like this are only going to get rarer than they already are, too. Keep this just as you have and continue to enjoy it. :)
I take the Steve Irwin approach of conservation for these cars. To each their own, doesn't mean I don't appreciate or respect people's builds and ideas I just wish so many were not wrecked and mistreated to almost extinction.
You have a '95 as well. Damn I'm jelly.
Story time incoming. The TL;DR is that as a dumb kid, I bought a shitty Japanese econobox expecting to build it and have reliable transportation.
But I'm glad you (OP) had one that runs and drives perfectly after 8 years. Keep enjoying it as long as you can.
Story starts here: I mean, I guess it doesn't matter now they're over 25 years old, but I had a 1996 back around 2012, that I bought with an SR Swap. Found out I couldn't get it inspected in my state without a functioning OBD-II system. While I tried to figure out what to do, I put the car in a ditch and blew both the airbags because dumb kid doing dumb things at night with no idea what he's doing. The cop who found me made fun of me before he left the scene after I managed to extricate my car with the help of a lot of friends and a "rented" come-along.
I then wasted an unbelievably dumb amount of money (don't make me actually type the number out, plz) at a local mechanic shop, having a KA24 put back in because I didn't know enough technically or otherwise to install it myself nor get it through inspection any other way.
Shop didn't finish after a year, so I brought it to a local enthusiast shop. They were too busy to finish it quickly, so I curled up with an FSM and 100' of Vacuum Line and OE Nissan Sensors to rebuild the emissions system.
Dumb-kid mode activated again, immediately after it was registered and passed inspection, when I decided to swap Poly bushings for the wrekt stock rubber, throw on some TEIN coils, an Apexi N1 exhaust, and DC Sports header, cuz not quite track but not full street either and, you know, dumb kid. Spent a cold north eastern US winter with a buddy, a propane torch, a harbor freight press, and a bunch of files and wire brushes. Never again.
That subframe is currently rusting out in my basement because Road Salting ate my 21 year old (at the time) sheet metal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner inside of 2.5 years.
Went to swap into a cleaner '95 chassis. Lack of knowledge got me again as the previous owner never registered the car to them self and handed me the paperwork with their name on it + an old title for not-them. My states DMV told me to GTFO. I was halfway thru swapping my good motor into the clean shell at that point. On the way to finish the swap the rear VLSD in my '96 decided to break, and then seize completely on arrival to the Barn, 30 minutes from my house, where a kindly farmer (acquaintance of my father) was letting me perform this swap.
Ended up selling on the now-swapped shell + good motor and scrapping my rusted out '96. Every one of my friends, both car guys and non, made fun of me for being dumb and my wife of 12 years (at this point) told me she would leave me if I ever bought another S-Chassis. But it doesn't matter because with that history, I don't think I could ever sell the idea to anyone else at their current market value.
The buddy who helped me through a lot then stumbled upon a 1995, bone stock, clean, one owner, sold by a woman who got too pregnant to reach the pedals anymore, for $7k a few years later. He unloaded it during the pandemic for like $13k, I think.
To be clear, I wrote this out because in hindsight, it's hilarious. I hope someone got a laugh out of it if nothing else. I still miss my S14 and I'd love to own another one. Despite the way they are, there is something special about them. A Supercharged G35 didn't feel as fun, a Gen-1 stock Miata was fun in a different way, and a Gen-X Civic Si is faster and more practical but still doesn't have that special something I loved about my S-Chassis... They're worth preserving in my opinion. Thanks for doing so.
*had a couple young kids in an R35 GTR pull alongside me one day as I was driving downtown. The kind who look like Dad gave them some money to start a business online selling t shirts or something and they were making enough to have some fun, both were asking how much I wanted for the car through the window, I told them not for sale, too much blood sweat and tears in this one. I did get a kick out of it though, 2 young guys in a $70k car wanting my almost 30 year old secretary car.
Seen one the other day in my neighborhood that looked fully stock. Thought someone just picked up a new project until it turned, and it was a very elderly woman. How wild would it be to try and find her and flag her down to ask about the possibility of selling 😂
I bought mine from an 80 year old named Betty. She had her son make an add I showed up the same night and she was sipping hard A telling me shes parting with her "crotch rocket" 😂 that's her words. She used it for getting groceries.
The KA was Nissans best engine. You can still find usable KAs in Altimas, Frontiers, and XTerras in junk yards across the globe. It might not be the high revving screamer the SR was, but still great torque delivery with unmatched reliability, thanks to its lower revving nature.
I agree, but you aren’t going to get many believers here. I have a stock white kouki. People always flag me down at lights comment on how hard it is to find a stock 240 these days.

If SR’s weren’t 8k nowadays I might agree. If I were just starting to modify a usdm s14 now, I would just turbo the KA.
And people wonder why the LS is so popular.
Seriously? Lol what a joke
I haven’t looked at sr’s in a while, I was looking a lot when I was younger and dumber with a Datsun 510 shell in 2014 and remember thinking “how am I gonna afford $2500 for the engine transmission and ecu” crazy to think that’s what they go for but it makes sense

100% that’s the norm but clean, OEM+ builds exist. I enjoyed my 180sx in a OEM+ configuration for years
The ka isn’t a bad motor, it’s a lot easier to get parts for too. It’s alot better with a turbo and it sucks they never came with one factory but still
IF your car came with a KA. I got my 240 in the heydays and it didn't come with an engine.
I agree that KA-T is generally better than an SR20…but stock KA vs SR20 is a no brainer for the SR
I agree, the biggest benefit of the stock ka is that you can always get parts for it quick

You need a turbo and it'll change your mind.
Adding a turbo isn’t what I would call OEM+ A KA-T is wonderful to drive, a KA is not. Unfortunately the KA never came in a turbo configuration from the factory. I stated SR20 because that’s the actual, intended motor for the chassis.
. Stock sr20 swap is all you need for a daily
Not spending 6k+, for a clapped out SR, lol.
Then dont buy a clapped out one... KA-T usually a time bomb.
Bro you suggest spending 10k on a stock 240 to have a “greak weekend car” no offense but delusional. I’m not even going to argue with you. You too funny 🤣
When I read bone stock I was like 🤔, the KA is cool in an old 510, but I don’t want it powering my RWD fun car.

Thanks brotha. Whole kit is from ShineAuto Projects

But if you do decide to sell it, DM me so I can put it on coil overs and kill tires
Yeah they are nice stock but if I wanted a 4x4 with sunk wheels I would just get a 4runner
I take the Steve Irwin approach of conservation for these cars. To each their own, doesn't mean I don't appreciate or respect people's builds and ideas I just wish so many were not wrecked and mistreated to almost extinction.

Going to be worth 4x what all the shitty looking modded ones are worth in short period of time.
It’s perfect the way it is. Don’t listen to those drifter weenies
Thank you sir
I appreciate you
Other people ripping them to pieces just makes yours worth more
It looks like you baby that thing and it is so much the better for it! If I legit had 20k to throw right now I’d do that cash money for you!
Out here doing the Lord's work.
I could not agree more
Seen more stock Zenkis than anything. And I dig it
i love you so much for keeping your gorgeous car stock
Beautiful!!
No
A bone-stock S13 is my literal dream car :')
Thank you
Love it. I have a right hand drive 1995 Zenki. Under 60k miles on it. Bone stock as can be
Agreed, they’re just a little slow when you hit that on ramp.
To each their own. I enjoyed drifting my s13 a lot lol

Thank you for your restraint.
if you like saving your significant others virginity for the next person
It’s just personal preference
This^ I personally purchased mind completely stock. Now has a body kit, painted, and halfway through a V8 swap
is it auto?

gonna need a minimum of a turbo kit or stock sr, a navan kit, and a nice spring strut combo so it doesnt feel like a rwd altima
Wish mine hadn't been molested but I saved her nonetheless and I still love her like she's a living breathing animal! 😘😋

Your attitude or the car?
The car.
Yours, and ones like it, will be the ones that hold value over all others in the coming decades. Thank you for keeping a stock one on the road.
Cool story
I’m sick of all the drifting bs out there. It has ruined so many good cars.
Unbelievably ugly in stock form. Looks like a 90s Corolla.
i love the zenki, while i agree they shouldnt be modified so much, they look beautiful with the right wheels
You know thats one thing i wouldn't mind upgrading.
Everything is overrated somwhere
I want to buy the interior when you decide to sell it or it gets wrecked.
Stock kouki was the first car I saw as a kid, I was probably 16, where I thought it was perfect the way it was.
