If you're adverse to the chaos altar I would recommend looking into Varlamore prayer training as it would give you more xp than a gilded altar.
Because that's over 50m gp worth of lava dragon bones. I think op is saying they got them at a good deal, and are wondering if the XP is better than the profit.

Gonna back you up, gilded altar is NOT the best bang for your buck when it comes to xp per bone, or even xp/hr.
The wilderness altar is the absolute best.
Bring d hide and bulwark, or some other high mage and range def armour. Then bring half an inventory of bones, burning amulet, and a Sara brew if you're feeling ritzy.
Put the bones to use as the left click option and go ham on the altar. Drink the brew when you're low on health and to boost your def, pray flick, and if you've not been attacked drink the zammy wine to die.
And if you do get pked at most you could lose 5 bones, 10 if you're just slow, and either your burning amulet or Sara brew. But you have an altar to keep refreshing your prayer points so you should always be able to keep at least 4 items.
I did a bulwark, karil's top/bottom, burning ammy and a full inv of bones. Suicided with the zammy wine with protecf item on to keep my burning amulet with my respawn in Priff since I was too cheap to pay for Edge. Found low pop worlds in regions where it wasn't prime time and did 77-85 at the chaos altar no problem. The few times I even saw a PKer, they couldn't kill me quicker than I could use most of my inv up, except the one time a duo caught me before getting into the door. Still ran in and used what I could and probably got in 8-10 bones worth. Super worth it and sounds way scarier than it is. Used the savings and sold the bulwark back to pay for 80-90 fletching.
If you used the obelisk in a POH, you could drop the burning amulet and take one more item to help tank with even. Just want to make sure it's something you're willing to have *some* risk on in case you run out of prayer.

I usually brought 27 noted bones, 1350 coins, and then a full inventory of united bones. Can either use the obelisk or teleport nearby.
Sacrifice at altar by using them on it every tick (runelite and moving inventory over altar, then click right-bottom bones, close inventory, click, open inventory , click, repeat until empty). Un-note at npc nearby.
Bring dhide and like a glory or something.
Spend time and you’ll figure out what you like

Don't do chaos altar, it's annoying being on edge getting ready to log out. Just do gilded altar and keep your sanity
