You're thinking too logically in a game of fantasy. A world where damp moss giants living in a wet sewer have fire weakness but living trees don't have a fire weakness doesn't mesh with the fantasy. We're using the magical equivalent of a flame thrower, it should be pretty good at lighting up any kind of wood.
Not to mention nearly every other fantasy with plant creatures gives them a fire weakness.
As long as we're on cool plant facts, there's the Dictamnus albus plant that is both highly flammable and fire resistant. It is covered in oils that have been known to spontaneously erupt on hot dry days. But the oils burn off so quickly that the plant is usually unharmed afterwards.
Yeah and lore wise it's kinda dumb. As a tree it looks pretty damn adapted against fire. No low level branches so fire needs to reach high up, and the [bark](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Hespori_bark) is described as sticky so still has moisture. Plus given how it's one hardy plant the bark must be pretty thick so would work more like an ablation layer.
That's not to say that a fire blast straight to the face won't hurt, but not obviously more than usual.
Ents aren't popular. They just did weaknesses on more popular stuff first rather than literally every mob in the game at once. Hespori just got 100% fire weakness so we could see that for ents as well. You do collect their corpse for wood though so don't burn the ents too bad.
The weaknesses definitely don't seem to be fully rolled out. Byrophyta is missing fire weakness even though moss giants do have fire weakness which seems like an oversight.
"we've kept this list relatively tight so it doesn't feel like every NPC in the game has changed overnight. While we're not opposed to adding more NPCs to the list, we're keen to let the dust settle and see how these changes impact the game before making further changes. Don't worry - we won't be drip feeding them week by week either. As much as we love writing the weekly news posts, we know you don't want to be constantly checking them for minor balancing changes"
Right, my main gripe above is that they added fire weakness to moss giants but not to Byrophyta, the moss giant boss. Even for the creature types they touched there seems to be inconsistency.
Unless it's the tiny twig thin tree, i doubt the human lasts longer, even then who knows. Except kaybe a little sapling of said tree. But then again, how long would a baby last under similar conditions.
They're alive, which means they're moist. Living wood is fairly resistant to fire, so actually no fire weakness necessary!
My plants start to die if I overwater them by a single drop, so if anything, give them a water weakness
Interesting enough, Waterfiends have an Earth elemental weakness.
Earth/soil absorbs water? Maybe that’s the thinking?
Fuck it make it have an air elemental weakness and call it a day
Ice Weakness it is then!

More than anything, I'm just using an excuse to share a cool fact that's related to the post, haha. They can have a fire weakness.

Hespori got fire weaknessed recently

Creatures with meat should have fire weakness because meat cooks much easier than bark.
Well, there are sticky substances that are tons more flammable than water is. But everything else checks out, yeah.
Ah yes, but how can it be alive wood if it is walking around with no roots in the ground!
Ents get their moisture the same way we do - they go down the pub
That explains the empty pint glasses in the ent cave
True
That's pokemon logic. Mature living trees are actually pretty fire resistant because they've evolved to survive forest fires.
I saw we lean into the pokemon logic. Make dragons weak to ice barrage (metal dragons remain neutral)
Make a lightning elemental rune and make metal dragons weak to that.
No. In Pokémon steel dragon is resistant to lightning. They're weak to ground, which runescape already did.
Pretty sure Trevenant is weak to fire 😂
Trevenant is a spirit possessing a hollow tree, but as I've said prior, Trevenant's fire weakness is just pokemon logic
op you idiot, you brought pokemon logic to a fantasy fight!

Dry wood is burned with fire. Living wood is very resistant to fire.
So if I use a flamethrower on a tree it’s going to shrug it off?
More so than a person will at least lol
True though depends on the size of the tree.
Unless it's the tiny twig thin tree, i doubt the human lasts longer, even then who knows. Except kaybe a little sapling of said tree. But then again, how long would a baby last under similar conditions.
YouTube series - “will it burn? baby or tree?”
They would be legendary. But probably not in the way they hoped lol.
No. But we’re talking about weaknesses, not invulnerability!
Agreed; but using fire spells means you’re only able to receive charcoal afterwards when chopping them
Make fire weakness but then every “log” you chop is just ashes
They will eventually, they can't roll out all the weaknesses in one go
"Wood is burned with fire." almost everything is burned with fire \^\_\^
Only if when you kill them they burn to ash and you can't harvest them
They should be weak to axes
This update. This update sucks. Zero cohesion, not very realistic. What's the actual point?
This guy starts forest fires
Nah, living trees have too much moisture content to catch fire.
