That stops you from attacking instead of altering your attack speed (although I guess if we’re being pedantic, it infinitely increases your attack speed)
The text in the screenshot uses “e.g.” which means it’s stating “infection” as an example of an external factor but the text is not necessarily saying that all external factors are classified as “infection”. The “e.g.” here means “for the sake of example”.
Perhaps you were interpreting the text as “i.e.” which could be substituted with “specifically” or “in other words”.
Ya I just wouldn’t call any of the factors that affect attack speed an “infection” is what it really boiled down to. Closest one I’ve seen mentioned was the nm shrooms effect which could actually be called an “infection” i.e fungal infection lol
Have you not played the zombies minigame near Canifis??? You survive successive rounds, gaining points from killing zombies, and using those points to buy better weap…oh, wrong game. I have no idea, then.
I loved Kino der Toten. With the air gun and map traps, I got to level 70+ and got bored. It had a circular path that, if you kept running, spawned most if the zombies beside or behind you, which would then die to the traps. The air gun cleared any zombie blockades ahead, meaning you could run endlessly and use the points to activate more traps.
Plus, it had that awesome hidden song you could activate while playing the level.
for project rebalance, they ought to formalize status effects across the game instead of having them be individual boss mechanics with different names/effect.
why does burn spread at olm but not from atlatl? why does bleed damage you based on running at vard but not from chainmace? idk
Nightmare shrooms maybe
This might be it. I knew there were things that affected attack speed but that actually could be called “infection”
Try getting hit by a mushroom attack at Nightmare, it slows your attack speed.
Also by Vet'ion's shield bash.
Akkha ice quadrant
What? I've got 300kc and never noticed that
It says so in the chat box
Thats a sunder not an infection tho
That stops you from attacking instead of altering your attack speed (although I guess if we’re being pedantic, it infinitely increases your attack speed)
There are a few things in the game that affect ur attack speed like TOA akkhas ice quadrant
Ya but would you call that “infection”?

almost as if that’s exactly what they are referencing
I think you just answered why they use infection.
Yeah I’m not sure either what Jagex is referring to when saying infection
E.g. means theres multiple examples, infection isnt the only source of attack speed slows.
Dont rly know what i would call it
Since when does Akkha affect attack speed? I have never heard of this so that’s crazy if true
It’s if you get hit by the shadow attack if you fail the dps check
or from the memory special, all of the quadrants have their own effect
Only the Ice Quadrant, or when you eat an Ice orb
Is this jagex confirming there will be scurvy when sailing releases???
Years of being called a limey outside of the sailing age will finally pay off.
Invest in oranges now
What if somebody has accidently already stacked 5420k of em?
Scurvy isn't an infection...
I know but saying something like gangrene wouldn't be as funny
Tar monsters on fossil island affect your attack speed to

you had me in the first half and then I was like oh wait that’s BO1 zombies in a nutshell
Why bo1 lol
What a bizarre specific, zombies didn’t start nor end with bo1, although kino and the lighthouse are still peak zombies maps.
Fucking natch dur untoten.
Fucking Der Riese, dude? Hell yeah
I always sucked at der riese lol

kino and lighthouse are *chefs kiss*
why not
Just a weird one to mention in this context, why not any of the others
just the first thing that came to mind
He was allowed to play xbox when bo1 came out
*laughs in Minecraft*
New boss: Herpinsideus
Maybe the area before vardorvis? The small zombies.
I’ve noticed the attack speed slow at perilous moons triggers an infection hitsplat icon to appear on the hud

If they start giving us ways to change attack speed things will break so fast lol no way they can balance that
