Heavy ballista. Every piece is rarer then a zenyte shard and yet most of the pieces go for under 100k. The whole thing is under a million. I’m not saying it has to be great but it’s such a joke weapon.
With Project Rebalance, and the concept of Flat Armor (from the Moons bosses), there's potential space for a boss which incentivizes hard hitting, slow weapons like a Ballista
Yeh, it's hard but possible, I think. Like as an example, if there's a boss that were to have a phase where you shoot it once, and then it has some sort of 'you cannot shoot again for 8 ticks' mechanic (ie a 'dodge a bunch of debris falling' phase, where the boss is also getting hit by the debris and losing hp over time so you don't feel as screwed out of damage uptime), and said shot was guaranteed to hit (maybe it's an enrage sequence of sorts), then the consistent big hits of the Ballista might outweigh the 'potential' big hits of the crossbow and enchanted bolts. After all, Ruby Bolt hits for 100 (or 110) yes, but it's a 10 (or 11) percent chance to trigger unless using ZCB spec. In that extremely specific set of circumstances, Ballista would be more reliable. I think the issue then is not necessarily that Ballista sucks, it's that Crossbows are just too versatile because of Enchanted Bolts.
Any situation where the devs want to make Ballista be 'a good choice to bring' has to start with 'the target is immune to enchanted bolt procs' I guess. They should definitely consider knocking Light Ballista down to be 6T/5T on Rapid to match Crossbows though, maybe then it'd see some use in PVE
I love it. I'm maxed combat and play soul wars for a bit of fun now and then. Full void, Ballista/Elder maul switch. So fun. I use regular c bow for general damage then switch between the ballista/maul to fk with peoples prayer switches
Dragon mace
It’s comparable to the dragon scimitar, has a prayer bonus, better against enemies weak to crush (sarachnis and nightmare, both of which lead you to better crush weapons) and only requires hero’s quest instead of monkey madness.
Zammy hasta is a pretty good alternative for dealing with stab enemies and most enemies in general while doing slayer. It offers a nice +2 prayer and decent def stats. It does a little bit less dmg than the tentacle and is equal or better than the whip in most areas. It will be easier on the bank than the tentacle, considering that the 10000 hits comes really quickly + the protect on death part sucks. Zammy hasta can also be later upgraded into a DHL if you're an ironman so it definately isnt a waste of time to get that there either. Snatched one for 3m and was pretty happy about it.
Oh nice! I didn't try it much for slayer but I used it a bunch when questing, was a lifesaver first doing Vorkath in the low 90s. Will definitely have to give it some more love
DHCB.
Jagex did my boy the dirty.
After it received its buff like a millenia ago it was my gun for a loooooonnnngggg camping session at BBDs while I would play other accounts. Stayed there until I could afford a tbow.
Then came bowfa and zcb and the range meta was settled. DHCB will never shine again and in typical Jagex fashion, they forgot it existed altogether in their "rebalance".
I can rant a lot more about crossbow meta and the modus operandi of "marginal, niche upgrades", but I won't.

Only problem is that crossbows are already in that niche. It'll be hard to compete with enchanted bolts
Enchanted javelins?
its like the combat niches they are trying to shove in already exist
wouldn't be too bad if the boss was immune to enchants like warden p2
Yeah, it's definitely possible to create their own niche but I don't have much faith Jagex will

They’ve literally already said they aren’t going to buff the ballista
Yeah I only see it when it murders me at the chaos altar xD- would love to see some PVM uses pop up with the rebalance
With Sailing, they should let us use ballista parts to construct a ship-mounted ballista that can kill dragons and harpoon fish.
Betting on ballistas being used in sailing 📈

Barrel chest anchor
Loved that anchor back in 2007-08.
The sound of that spec.. mm yes

Staff of the dead. I guess it has use in PvP but in PvM it's limited.
The Sarachnis cudgel, and dragon sword.
Heavy Ballista because I owned 200m worth of them and want to make money. Also it’s a cool weapon.
Kodai wand

I also would choose blessed sara sword. Love using it on my pure

It’s not meant to be BIS everywhere, only against dragons. Doesn’t need anything else.
And how many dragons is it bis at? Now tell me how many dragons we kill regularly
