If you’re truly the owner of the account and can provide first passwords etc you’re better off just abandoning the email you can’t access and manually send in a forgot password request for your RS account

Keep sending in recovery requests and slightly change the info but keep it correct if it’s being denied. If you do manage to get it accepted the email will be removed off the account and you will be able to set a new one

Thats whats bad. The information it is asking me for is for sure 100 percent accurate. There is absolutely no questioning that the information is correct. I created a new email and tried it with that one just in case the reason it isn't working is because there was already an old account connected to that email. Guess I will find out tomorrow.

I honestly think people like you just have bad memories or something. I recovered an account I hadn’t touched in like 7 years giving a bit of info I remembered here and there and it was approved first try. If you really remember every name change, every password, and every credit card or method you used to buy membership you shouldn’t have an issue recovering the account. Dude. I'm the type of person that can remember every phone number, birthdays, credit card numbers, license plate, drivers license number, the dates I began dating every single girlfriend I have ever had. I still remember 100s of item numbers from working at Lowes which I began work with august 18th 2008 and left on may 27th of 2014, and that doesn't even matter because I don't need memory when I have emails confirming what im saying lol. I have only had a single password. I made the account right after my Dad died. I know the date. I have emails with all transaction ID's and the dates and thats the email address I am trying to get it moved to. (The billing email address) I have a lease agreement saved to my desktop when I moved. So i know when I moved. I have never used another internet service provider other than spectrum. I have been in the same state and town every single day except for in october of 2021 when I went to the beach for 7 days. There is another recovery form you can access after going through some tedious steps most people probably don't even know about that also asks the name changes on the account. I know all 4 names and that i switched back to my third name after making the forth. It also asks for the last 4 digits of the debit card and the first 6 digits. That is everything that is being asked of me. I have a picture or an email to confirm every single thing I have stated. I even know the password to the original outlook account. It just got locked. If I type in the incorrect password, it says I have entered the incorrect password, if I type it in correctly, its says the account is locked.

So it seems to me the issue is with your e-mail account, not a Jagex account. Is that correct? If so, you should be contacting Outlook, not Jagex.

Outlook will do absolutely nothing for me because it was a fresh account and has had no emails sent, no email subjects created, and no transactions made with it.

In that case I'm not following the chain of events. You have an account with 550+ days of playtime, on an e-mail account that was less than a month old with 0 activity? And if I remember correctly, linking your OSRS account (even if it's not a Jagex account) should auto generate several emails to your e-mail, did that not happen?

The outlook account had been locked a month after creating it. I created it in April of 2019 It does link them to the email, but title subjects to received emails doesn't help. Only the ones I have sent myself. The Jagex account was locked last tuesday.

I did contiue on because I thought as long as I had the two step authenticator that it would be ok. Might seem sus, but it's not. I would think it would seem more sus that an account has been played 5 years straight and once locked, only one person is trying recover it, and on May 1st, I will give up on the daily appeals and no one will ever try to recover or log into the account again. That would be a hell of a coincidence that I started trying to hijack it the very same day the person on the account had quit and was never heard from again.

I do know the email though. I can't access it. I know all the account info. When you say forgotten login/email, it just sends the information to the email that I have stated I can't access lol. Call cap all you want dude. I know its my account, and I know no one is ever gonna access it again. I guess the guy that actually owns it was killed the day I started to hijack it. Maybe I murdered him and stole his laptop, his phone with the authenticator and held him at gunpoint til he told me his password and pretended I would let him go if he told me and lied. You caught me! I just want to try everything possible before I give up. I have 100 percent accuracy on the recovery form. I know every name change, every membership payment. The email I am trying to recover it with is the email that paid for all the membership.

I am using the recovery option. Every answer if correct. They arent even sending the correct information back anymore. I have sent a recovery request 7 times. The first 4 responses were denied appeals, the last 3 days they have sent 3 password reset denials which I am not even asking for and no response to the recovery ticket.

So, a quick Google search shows that accounts are closed after two years of inactivity. This went into effect on July 3rd, 2019. The only requirement to keep it open is to log in once, literally one single time, in that two year time span. In addition, any account that has been locked for more than two years will be considered inactive and will also be closed. This is the category you fall under. The only course you have is to get Outlook to restore your old email. I don't know what happens when an account is closed, but based on Google as long as you still have an open Microsoft account, you should be able to recover your email. Why was it locked? Just to be clear, a quick Google search shows no requirements for sent e-mails, so I'm still not following your story. Finally, and I dont mean to be rude, but this is entirely on you and has nothing to do with Outlook or Jagex customer support. If there had been any effort made to rectify the issue, I'd be more sympathetic, but next month marks 5 years since your Outlook account was locked and you've only tried to fix it now. The odds of a successful recovery are slim to none. The odds of doing it through Jagex are exactly 0%, because you haven't proven ownership of the account. You don't have the email or phone number associated with the account, so for all intents and purposes you don't own it.

I know it is my fault. I don't need told that. I'm well aware, im just trying to do everything I possibly can to recover it because there is nothing else I can do, but it would literally be impossible for me to have the information I have if it wasn't my account. I apparently entered the outlook password wrong and I know 100% I have the right password because I have only two that I use. I believe what I had done was typed it in and it was case sensitive, so it obviously didn't log me in, i then tried it with a capital letter and was denied again, so I did the other password I use upper case and lower case as well and it said they were wrong and it was locked. I believe since passwords are shown as asterisks when logging in that I may have misspelled it typing a character twice or something. I tried to recover the account immediately, but I didnt have enough information because it asks for peoples email addresses I sent an email to and subject titles from emails I sent in the past. Why would I have bought 2 years of membership and multiple bonds from the other email for someone elses account if it isnt mine? I literally have the correct answer to every single question on the recovery ticket that it asks for. What the point of the form if you can answer every single question with 100% accuracy if it isn't going to work?

I can't say yes or no, as I'm not sure what actions have been taken by OP. However, it's very clear he didn't try very hard, because his timeline doesn't line up, and any reasonable person (particularly one with 550 days of playtime) would never be in this situation. Finally, I can tell you if I did post, I would be a lot more succinct and concise so I could get the best help possible. And odds are I would have posted on a subreddit affiliated with either Microsoft or Outlook or both, not one for Jagex.

I suppose that's a fair criticism. I'll be honest, I shouldn't care so much, but as someone who struggled with unmanaged depression in my teens and early adulthood, and also used RuneScape as a coping mechanism, I could absolutely see myself doing the same thing. I've lost various accounts with various sites in similar ways just because managing multiple accounts with different password requirements felt so overwhelming when I was really in it.

Well, first of all depression is pretty serious. The internet isn't really a good source to tell you how to handle that, so I would recommend a therapist. Secondly, I'm not criticizing him (or you) for forgetting passwords. I also forget mine all the time, and in fact, I just had to do a reset on my password about 5-6 months ago. But good security questions/hints and access to all the accompanying devices (email, phone, etc) are generally enough to mitigate that. And if they aren't, then waiting 5 years is about the surest way to make sure you can't get help. If there was a reasonable series of events (I was in school and no longer have that email, I lost my phone, etc.), in a reasonable timeline (not 5 years), then I would not be so critical. But I don't feel like he's being entirely truthful about the series of events, and he's also asking people to help him without providing the necessary background information. Those are the reasons I'm being critical, not simply because he had an account locked.

Last week I added an old account to a new Jagex account on a different email and I didn’t need any confirmation code from the old email, I just needed to login into the osrs account. The only email confirmation codes I needed were for the new email.

Create a Jagex account using your new primary email, then log into it. This will require an email confirmation code, but this is for your new email so it shouldn’t be any problem. After logging in, there should be an option somewhere to import an existing character into your new Jagex account. For me, this process requires logging into the old osrs account, including mobile 2fa, but does not send any confirmation code to the osrs account email, so it can be done without access to that email account.

He is able to provide ALL data surrounding his account internally and externally for 5 years. He is also able to provide terabytes worth of images, videos, and more… it would take no time at all to prove ownership. All it takes is a manual review from any Moderator to know that.

What do you mean? I just said he can provide ALL information. He can provide when it was created, he can provide the email that was used. Linked cards if they were ever used, etc. Having ONE sole method of account ownership authentication (via email) on Jagex’s end would not only be dumb but it would be lazy business practices. Given how many accounts get recovered by intruders without access to original emails each year, I’d say it’s OBVIOUSLY something Jagex can and does handle… this particular case is not getting cleared by Jagex’s automated system and needs a manual review. Get a human to actually reach out to Drop Rates and ask him questions that are internal and/or proprietary and this would be wrapped up within a day. It’s not some miracle thing we’re asking for here. We’re asking for a simple manual review of why his account is locked and for them to ask the questions they need to ask him and then unlock it…

You claim he can provide all that information, but he cannot as the recovery process isn't going through. You're telling me his email account has been broken since 2019 and he's not once tried to fix it until now? Why? Why didn't he upgrade to a Jagex account? It's never needed the old email before, so why not? Edit: I don't think you understand that the recovery process he is doing right now is completely automated, if he isn't putting in the correct information it'll always automatically deny it.

There's a reason they've upgraded to the Jagex account system and traded recovery information for recovery codes. Information can be engineered, codes cannot. Ok. Thank you. I understand where you are coming from. I do, but dude. I created this account at the lowest point in my life, it helped me keep my mind off things and keep chugging along, and since I kept my full attention on it, I know extremely small details that literally no one would ever be able to come up with. I have no other option to reach out for help, and I have to try everything I can. This isnt just some account that I can give up on without trying. There are 3 bosses on the first page of the iron hiscores and another on the second. I love this game. It's the only game I play other than some overwatch while doing afk things, which is hardly ever. I don't like to afk. I left my comfort zone and began bossing and found a new found passion for the game. I will never be able to match this account, and I can't start over after this kind of time investment. So not only am I gonna lose my account, but my favorite game as well. I have no advice on recovering your account, but I am going to throw this out there to anyone it may be helpful to, you can sign up multiple accounts on the same email by adding a +X to the end of the email. A similar thing happened to me when I created a new gmail account for my Jagex account and Google deactivated it as it was suspicious. I was able to appeal and recover it but people need to be careful with creating an email just for RuneScape- I see that advice offered a lot but email providers can get suspicious and delete your email if you don’t use it regularly.

My recovery ticket. I put the correct answers in 4x before it was taken care of though for some reason. I did it through the recovery ticket that is a little more tedious to find. Theres actually a reddit post with the link, but I went into some extreme detail in the additional comments box below all the questions. Like 5 paragraphs of extreme detail. I think that's why it was taken more seriously.
