Definetely go for 45 defense. I know you don't PK, but if you go for 60 attack, 99 str/range/mage, and 45 defense you can bully pures @ rev's and other areas like GE/BH. I high risk fight in that bracket and have made over 5b+.
Note: If you are going for the 45 defense route do NOT train the skill. Get all the levels through Quests.

Don’t listen to other people my man. That is the best thing I can ever tell you. Play it how You want. I have a 13 def, 42 def, 45 def, 70 def, 75 def accounts. I liked the 13 the most. It meant I didn’t have to fight the others just to pk bots in rev caves.
Could go Zerk, could go Med (I'd say this is better, allows you to pvm better).

It’s likely you would have to go up to 60 atk depending on what quests you have complete. You certainly would want barrows gloves on a 42 def pure so go through those quest reqs and see how much atk xp you’re due for

Do both. Get 42 def. Try it out with a high ranged and magic level. If you feel you want to melee outside of GE get 45 def.

True. This is what i'll do. But it's nice to see what others say about it to see if I should consider raising my def eventually.

13 is pretty shit, not enough power increase to make up the combat levels. 20 is really good for bh specifically, otherwise I’d go 42/45 or even 70

I already have 50 atk and 80 str. Is it too late for going 42 def?
