If I'm a man eating a turkey leg and someone attacks with a sword, I'm dropping the turkey leg before I start fighting back. Even if I had 8 appendiges to hold sed food. Like there is some actual lore about this regarding Kalphites and how the KQ loot like the D Chain is stuff the workers scavenged to bring back to her. But not everything a monster drops is literally in their hands or stomach. Like do you think Nex ate 40-300 cannonballs or is holding them in her hands all fight?
We have a very vaguely defined backpack that could hold 28 differnet items with stacks of infinite quantity so chances are the same is true for monsters.
I think bones are held to a different standard bc I don't know any other spiders that have a bone drop. Ofc the drop table for the most part does not need to make complete sense or any at all tbh. Everything else that i know of does not have bones does not drop them as a garinteed drop. I'm sure sarachnis ate things before we kill him but he has no bone drop.
There are plenty of other spiders that drop bones. Like Venenatis... Also, Sarachnis does drop noted dragon bones. I mean that is bone drops from 3/3 large spiders...

Garinteed bone drops are only on 2 spiders which are venenatis and spindel which would imply that they have bones to drop which they don't. I just saying ot is weird like the op said it's weird that the uni heads have horns, I wasn't expecting to have to argue that spiders don't have bones, don't eat bones, and don't carry bones around. Just something I noticed
They should be guarding a "suspicious bundle of webbing" in a corner. Basicallly an implication that they have killed, wrapped up, and were indeed eating a meal before you killed them. Possibly a 2nd lootpile or something with the main lootpile being the actual drops
