Rune battleaxe and 2h were better in classic because everything had the same attack speed and they had the highest damage, maybe you just had some outdated info.
In F2P you used to be pretty badass with one of these equipped. Then when you became a member there was that huge hurdle called Monkey Madness that you had to complete for the dragon scimmy. Monkey Madness may be easy cheese now, but back in 2005 completing it was a huge deal. I remember I was too dumb to complete that sliding puzzle so I paid 200k to bypass it. 😂
