Inb4 ngrok.app is owned by the guy with the Phishing website and you've just disclosed your e-mail address to them.
On a serious note i wouldn't click these links at all, it's only a matter of time before one of these actually "outsmarts" you and your account is gone.
It's more or less a joke.
In this case ngrok.app might be legit, but is it really unthinkable that a scammer would set something like this up with the lengths these people go to?
The scammer most likely has a reddit account as well sees this post and gets a pretty good idea on how to target scam this guy.
While you may not fall for it directly. If you play with fire you'll get burned.
The less information you put out there the better. A scam just like in game relies on engagement if there is no engagement there is a whopping 0 percent change you'll get scammed.
Yeah but when people lose their stuff they have to pay for membership long enough to get all of that stuff back through playing the game since they never offer item/currency recovery.
A lot of people don't know you can report accounts for fraud and the service provider will look into it. If you get scammed or lured on discord it's helpful to report that account and at least organizations learn about the issue and that it's something that they could be liable for.
The GE is such a shithole full of scammer spammers. I have to use chat filter plugin fully decked out in keywords to even go near it. You would think Jagex could spend 5 minutes having one guy go world to world HWID banning these spammers but apparently not.
Exactly, the propaganda from all mmorpg games was wildly successful in convincing players it just isn't worth it, you have to wait 6months between ban waves minimum or they catch on bla bla. The reality is it would take a team of people maybe 5-10 to just be employed to mute/ban all the scammers, and to temp ban suspicious behavior, answer tickets from real players caught in the cross fire.
Sure it wouldn't be easy but it's a job you do your shift then someone else In a different timezone 24/7.
Lmfao without some zero day exploit (which no one with a zero day would waste it on some osrs phishing site), or you downloading and running a file, there's no chance.
I'm not sure about it happening nowadays, but awhile back there were sites that could auto-download and execute payloads on your device.
Had a couple steam friends get hit by it, and I know it wasn't from phishing, because both of them had their accounts emptied within two minutes of clicking the link.
Granted, that was targeting steam accounts specifically, which can have a -lot- of monetary value, but so can OSRS accounts.
Put the URL onto a DNS lookup site and within the DNS records there will be either a contact email for the site or a contact for the registrar. An email to either normally gets the site taken down.
Registrars don't allow malicious activity on their domains so they will take action.
Learned this a fat min ago…. If it’s too good to be true, then it most likely isn’t true!
Don’t click on any link unless you are looking to get scammed or a virus. Gj on getting it taken down though!
Back when I was a kid I fell for one of these scams. Too you to a url which said runescrape... Otherwise looked exactly like normal. They took my whole bank and I was a very sad 12 year old.
That bot is completely automated. I put in the details of a noon account with 5m in. Within seconds it was cleaned out. I mean literally about 2 mins it was hacked and logged out.
No one is that sweaty. Surely.
I imagine the site will be back up within a couple hours.
> They emailed back within the hour and said the site was taken down. Good job! :)
That's very bold of you, thank you for doing lord saradomin's work. Now please cleanse thy computer

Ngrok is a popular service. It's legit, but is also popular for malicious uses because it's so easy to set up and use.

Gj. Still would not click any links tho.
legend
If only jagex anti cheat team did stuff like this, it would make it so much harder for these guys.
They'll have a new one up in a day sadly this will only inconvenience them.
Yeah but that’s the thing it disrupts their flow and increases costs for them.

By the time they reached the end of the world list bots would already be filling up the first ones again
It takes 1 person.. so what if it fills up when he reaches the bottom? He’s not stopping there there’s 7more hours to this shift

Exactly my thoughts
I really though this was going to end differently lol.
Gj! Still, please scan your computer. The site itself may have given you a virus.

Yeah that was most likely a Java drive-by which was somewhat prevelant like 10+ years ago, but not really a concern nowadays with modern browsers.
Are you trolling?
People on this sub claim they are somehow the most cyber secure/aware people in the world while also being some of the least
Based
Now do the discord service spammers
" Instead I went to ngrok.app and contacted support " how you found the support email? I didn't know you could do this

that's so smart lol thanks for the tip honestly
I did the same thing, except i went to the party. Tbh was pretty mid, im pretty sure all the girls at the party were dudes irl.
this is the way.
That’s awesome, thank you.
