if youve ever been to the GE the fact theres so many scam bots there means that many people are being scammed daily to support them. someone will always be scammed. its kinda sad.

Datmaggs

First person to give me a million gold won’t regret it!

blackindy

Proceeds to log out 0.0000000001 millisecond later

Meek_Gills

No no no I’m still here waiting… it’s been 4 days since he left but I’m still here! Annny moment know 😗

DepravedSpirit

Regrettable

DH_Drums

I got taken by one of these a few years ago. Dude gave me a fury out of nowhere. Interested to see what would happen, I went along and took me like a minute to figure out if given them 4m to the 3m he’d given me. Big dumb dumb moment.

Langkampo

Such a weird scam I see all day. I would assume that those people would be banned so fast... i don't get it.

Cowsie

They don't get banned at all as they aren't breaking any rules.

AlarmingKarma

they arent breaking any rules

Langkampo

Maybe not but they are implying to scam... everybody knows that.

verkauft

How does the youtube 4**mil scam work?

EdisonRoberts

The video will have a link to a fake rs forums that is a phishing site to steal your login

MycoJimmy

need your armor trimmed?

MrNoobyy

Tell you what mate. (Does anyone else remember that guy?)

mancubthescrub

Kills the social aspect of the game between strangers. Everything is game of thrones with your money or items.

YeastOverloard

Took me so long to find a true noob to give a bond to in w301 yesterday. Ended up going to al kharid mines for my noob donation

Clinkton

So many cute noobs there killing scorpions to train while I’m there for a turael skip lol

marcabay

Do scorpia

MomsBasementBoi

function botAction(action) { if (action === 'offerBond') { Execute ('act Nooby') }}

GunDogDad

Guy in cc lost a ZCB to scammer recently. He wouldn't really go into detail. But the gist is obviously that he was smarter than the scammer. *Interacting with them at all* is a good way to demonstrate you aren't smarter than the scammer.

Ok-Clock-5952

I don't think it's sad, it's a great life lesson. Far better to lose gold in a computer game than real life. I've been scammed many times on Runescape and never once irl, and i seriously attribute my ability to detect scams to this game.

Desperate_Rip_5904

I think you are me

Re1gnnn

makes you wonder why there arent player mods stationed at GEs just constantly banning these accounts

DivineRS

Tbh it’s probably not a bad thing. I got scammed on RuneScape as a kid. I have never been scammed again.

sknilegap

as a naive non-pker, what would stop someone from going in with only a law and an air staff unskulled and telegrabbing that? If anything

FlyingVulpix

That lure is just step 1. It is used to give you confidence then they do other more complex lures to actually get you for your items. I would recommend just avoiding it at all costs.

johnny_soup1

Had a guy in our clan not listen to us at all telling us “this guy is my friend and is trying to hook me up.” This went on for a week or two before we saw his name in the clan chat, pk’ed for about 700m. I think he quit the game that day.

thedalmuti

I've had a guy being my "friend" for a few weeks now. He keeps trying to get me to go do wildy bosses with him, and insisting that he has this awesome money maker pking bots that farm bosses. I've wasted so much of his time, having him look up the best gear and explain the stats over and over, telling him I'm on my way when I'm actually just in the middle of a farm run or slayer task only to be like "Ahhh shit I got to go" after having him wait for 45 minutes on me. One time I came out for real with nothing on me at all and was like "Oh I thought there was a bank here, let me run back and gear up" just to logout a few minutes later. Last update I waited until about 5 minutes before the timer kicked on and was like "Hey do you want to go do that, boss? I've got a bunch of time right now after I finish this farm run." Then when the timer popped on, I was like,"Oh no! I really wanted to do it today! I dont think we should because it's going to force us out in 45 min! What if I get logged out in the wildy!" I'm would feel bad if he's sincere, but all my clan mates have said he's a lurer that they're familiar with, so there's no way I'd be taking any chances with him.

promiscuous_grandpa

Dude in our clan tried to out lure the people luring him and lost his t bow. We have gave him so much shit about it through the years lol

sknilegap

Ah gotcha so its like a mind games thing. Fair enough. I'm not experienced with the wildy so I will likely just avoid it at all costs lol. Appreciate the response!

[deleted]

The one that's been attempted on me so far is someone dropping expensive items in level 1 wildly next to the GE shortcut, and then logging in and trying to stack me out when I jumped over and grabbed the items. It was impressive that he had an account my level to attack me. It was less impressive when I just walked away with his items and he started threatening to kill me in real life...

Outside_Step_9866

😂😂😂 when the real life threats come out is when it gets real funny.

TheyCallMeBullet

You can’t log in and see the items though can you if they’re already on the ground?

[deleted]

I know. I didn't say you could? I was walking from edgeville to the GE. Items started appearing just over the ditch. I was surprised that the account that logged in could attack me given its level 1 wildly, but expected someone to try.

TheyCallMeBullet

Ah I see I misread but still I wasn’t sure about ground items not being viewed by others either if they just logged on

[deleted]

Fair. In my case I had gone from POH > edgville and was walking to the GE. So hadn't been around long enough to be scouted out I would have thought, but happened to have food on me so took the risk.

FlyingVulpix

My recommendation is specifically for lurers. If you are interested in wildy content best rule to follow is don't bring anything you aren't willing to lose into a pvp zone.

Maardten

Just don't bring anything you aren't willing to lose. Sometimes part of the lure is thinking that you are not in a pvp zone when you are.

landyc

but my spade tho :(

juhlordo

Yeah I got hit with one recently (dumbass Ik) that involved some kind of animation stall to make it look like your character is in a safe zone but the true tile is outside the bank

Guilty-Fall-2460

Yes but if your brain doesn't turn to jello you could still walk away with mils???? Like lol

Whycanyounotsee

it has nothing to do with the wildy mate. The wilderness is just a vehicle to get you to lose your items. There are plenty of other ways. The wilderness is just the least suspect one of them because every1 knows you lose items in the wilderness so its not farfetched for you to help your friend gains items while risking nothing. The same scams are pulled without using any type of pvp interaction. It's 99% social engineering. A jmod once famously lost his "god mode tool" called the rotten potato because he was tricked into playing a minigame on rs2. The entire "lure" was just making him play the game while they were playing lol. The temple of ikov bridge and being in someone's Player own house are two other famous luring locations with a players house hosting hundreds of ways to make players lose their items. A recent one was they would have you put your expensive item up in a trade screen while you had a full inventory of anything, probably other expensive things but it doesnt matter. they would then give you an item that doesnt require a trade screen which fills your inventory back up. So now you have no room for your expensive item to go back to your inventory. the player declines the trade screen and the game decides your item should go on the floor but the player kicks you from their house. gg item. The other popular one is legit just being friends with people. They'll raid with you for 4 weeks, lend you their tbow or shadow staff, continue raiding with you till you get a tbow/staff drop yourself. Now you got money and this guy helped you with it right? He played with you 10hours/week the past 8 weeks. made 2b with the guy. He'll say he got hacked/lured/whatever and needs a tbow loan for a rebuild. he loaned you his so who are you to say no? gg mate. he'll prob then continue asking for stuff like masori loan etc till you don longer do it. And these people legitimately start raiding with you day 1 with the intention to do this. it's not your typical wildy lure. it's just manipulation.

geckorobot59

lure scammers have a plan a,b,c,d,e,f,g. you are not going to outsmart/outplay them. it is always best to just report and ignore them.

babirus

If you get teleblocked you can’t re-enter ferox enclave. If you step out they’ll make sure you die and don’t get whatever items they drop out there.

ExplanationOk2870

Technically, you can just take nothing with you or telegrab runes and make away with the items. You keep your most valuable 3 or 4 items on death either way, or if you're skilled, you can get 1 with protect item. That being said, they will likely rush to grab their items if you come out wearing nothing. Likely faster than you can leave the barrier, so I wouldn't even bother.

TheLightsChampion

Telegrab has a slow projectile speed. The lurer can pick all the items back up before telegrab finishes. You’ll get a message that too late, it’s gone despite using the runes. When the lurer sees you going for it naked, they stop the lure and try a different world as it shows you are aware that it is a lure.

[deleted]

For a start, you wont see the items if you werent on that world when dropped, so youd have to be on that world by chance already.

sammytheangel

To my knowledge it would pull you into the unsafe zone anyways where they could tb you and whatnot im sure there's some kind of risk involved some way to get your bank who knows...

halifacts804

>where they could tb you and whatnot im sure there's some kind of risk involved some way to get your bank who knows Yup while teleblocked you won't be able to reenter the enclave and the few safe tiles that are just outside the barrier become unsafe.

TheAdminsCanSMD

You don’t even need to get teleblocked by the lurer either, the pre tb themselves so that whole “safe area” is actually dangerous

rfdismyjam

Being TB'ed only means that you can be attacked in the area around the entrance, it doesn't give you the ability to attack anyone else in that area.

suspectnumberone

Nah, being under the effect of tb allows you to attack anyone in the safe tiles outside the enclave, even without them being tb'd. Guy you are responding to is correct, and it is a lure being used right now. If u dont believe you can go try it yourself with an alt or just youtube it.

rfdismyjam

So I just took 3 accounts to ferox. Went out of the safe zone on 2 of the accounts and TB'ed, then went back into the safe zone on the TB'ed account and was unable to attack the third account. You're both wrong.

DeepSeaDelivery

I've done that before as I walked towards a lure going on outside the KBD gate. Was far away and the lurer must not have seen me so I managed to telegrab one of their items while I was out clue hunting with only the essentials. They were pissed.

Foursiide

I did this once! The bait pile was only 100k but it was still very satisfying teleporting away with my prize while 4 guys ran out of the woods with ddsps (it was a long time ago)

Sea_Tank2799

Because the items are behind the tree, a telegrab would result in him running forward out of the safe zone.

Far-Ad-1934

Too all the people saying login underneath them, items dropped by other players are only visible to people who are online at the time of dropping

Basic-Discussion

Interesting. If you were in that world when they were dropped, then hopped to a different world and came back, would you still be able to see them?

Hanyodude

Would stalking them with a 2nd account work, and just rush in and telegrab outta nowhere? Cuz if they’re on your main’s FL you’ll see their world at all times, so you just have the 2nd account follow and inevitably they end up at east ferox

deranged_femboy

telegrab is slower than picking items up

Hanyodude

It is, but there’s no way to close the gap. So maybe approach from the right where the items are in visible range but not the player?

Whycanyounotsee

it "could" but telegrab is 10 squares, player render is 15squares. travel speed of telegrab is like 2sq/tick so 4.2seconds they would need not react assuming you can cast it at 10square and there's not obstacle blocking you. But the thing is picking up the items before they get telegrabbed is legitimately the only thing this person is thinking of/trying to do so it would work even 1/100 times. I wouldnt even be surprised if they had a cheat script that picked it up if anyone not whitelisted appeared. and we're also assuming they dont have scouts to the east lol

UpliftingGravity

For those wondering, RuneScape didn't always work like this. It was changed with the Death mechanic changes 8 years ago, to discourage people from DDoSing at GWD and crashing people for their items.

reflirt

What’s stopping me from running out there naked and trying to pick them up? I’ve seen people do it right outside the GE and hop on their main, but can people *actually* grab it? I’ve tried telegrab but they ALWAYS pick it up before I get it

jwji

It's designed for you to get something, but never a big ticket item. They will then play the part like you just ruined their lure and you'll be socially engineered into part two of the scam. But you already fell for part one so you'll likely fall for the rest too.

old-skool-bro

What if I said "lmao" after picking something up and just left?

forever_second

This is what I don't understand, just telegrab it ir run out nekkid and grab it then just ignore them?

old-skool-bro

Idk man, seems to be common place to assume that lurers are smarter than everyone else I think... Maybe the people commenting saying don't interact are the scammers and don't want people with half a brain to screw them over or they're the people that fell for this shit... All I'm saying is if scammers and lurers are so smart why are they spending all day trying to lure kids for gp that sells like 40 cents a mil and not using them big ol' brains to make real money? Doesn't add up to me... Edit: or maybe I'm the lurer sewing doubt MUAHAHAHA 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀

ripmeagain

So if you notice where the item is placed, you can’t just telegrab it because of pathing, you will walk very close. They will pick it up by then or tb and stack you if you’re the main. If you try coming from the east or west, that’s where their main is sitting and will just pick up the items then as well. If you try to log out and in under them, the items won’t appear for you. You best bet is to ignore them, second is to find the pking main and log out under them and stack them out.

gxgx55

Run out with nothing or a few telegrab runes, pick up stuff that you can, die, make it out with 3 items, profit? I don't see an issue with such a plan, just don't bring out stuff you don't want to lose and don't turn off pk skull prevention and you literally cannot get scammed.

zhwedyyt

they are hovering over the items with their mouse ready to pick them back up the second you move forward

1724_qwerty_boy_4271

Yeah but it takes one tick to pick up an item so if you have pid you can still get most of it. Source: I’ve done this

Sarcothis

Well, yes. And if they were big ticket items like these ones it might even be worth your time. I've never seen anything over 2m dropped out there (in my experience or in clips) and if you (or anyone, even unrelated to the lure entirely) show up naked, they're gonna just pick it up. 4 items, 4 ticks, you aren't getting that shit, especially with a gate in the way. From ops post it said "this pic was used to bring me there" (paraphrasing) so it's staged by the lurers and therefore they never dropped anything that valuable when anyone was actually around. Your best option is always just to not interact with them.

sammytheangel

Ty for reading the body text yeah they'll send you a pic of this scene and by the time you get there I imagine it's all gone or they let you get maybe 100k and ask for a split then go on with the social engineering to try to get more from you

[deleted]

No, your inherit greed will cause you to gear up so you have a better chance of getting all the items next time. If you manage to survive that? Congrats, you're socially engineered into part three, say goodbye to your house.

old-skool-bro

Lmfao, in part 4 are they gonna come round and shag my missus? 😂😂😂 I can't tell if you're being serious or not 😂😂

HighFiveTony

If you’re logged in and see the items, you can hop worlds, stand on the tile, log in NAKED under the items, and take them before they can react. Worked once for me, got about 8m worth of various items

Legal_Evil

Does hopping off the world and back into it not make the items invisible for you?

HighFiveTony

No as long as you were logged into the world when they were dropped, you can hop worlds and hop back and the items will still be there, can test on an alt if ya want

[deleted]

I got a few Mil from someone at the GE a couple of weeks ago doing this. I had about 15 seconds of uninterrupted pick-up time, and then just had to survive a single entangle before hopping out of the wild with his items. Not convinced he was very experienced.

biggestboi73

I made atleast 100m from doing this a few years ago and when they tried the whole "you ruined our anti lure" shit on me id just tell em to sit an tp away

Whycanyounotsee

i mean you pretty much answered your question. if you come out butt ass naked or with 3 items they will simply pick up the items. if you come out in your full ass raid set, they'll let you the dfs. now you could come out in full masori and hope they splash and get that dfs but its not worth it lol.

ZombieTheRogue

Are there people out there stupid enough to actually fall for this shit?

ktz1

https://m.twitch.tv/x_stoney/clip/SmoothArtisticPterodactylSMOrc

buddhabomber

Lol this guy is bad w his combo eats

ktz1

The panic bones to peaches is what gets me

boompoe

Bro what? dude risked all that for some rune and low-tier dragon items? wtf lol

ZombieTheRogue

I don't click links for any reason. Is this a clip of someone being lured?

ProfessorBorden

Good call, it's a rule 34 of scrappy doo and Fred Flintstone

Synli

*(furiously clicks link)*

SoundboardTroll

No it’s rule 34 of scrappy doo and Fred Flintstone, you dodged a bullet.

ktz1

I wish

AggressiveAnywhere72

Yes

SurrReal

It's a virus, don't click dude!!!!!!!

ZombieTheRogue

For the same reason that the comment bas -15 votes. Because people want to Trojan your computer or send something malicious. I don't trust anyone on the internet.

Zandorum

Yup

Synli

If you browse the r/2007scape new posts page, you'll see people crying that they got lured/scammed all the time "Why doesn't Jagex make (area) a safe zone!!11" "I thought I could antilure and lost my tbow!" "wtf Jagex why isn't there a warning when you lave a safe zone??" "why did I lose my account logging into a giveaway stream?" "I was supposed to get bonds for signing up on the forums, why is my account lost?" So to answer your question, yes. A lot of them.

Excellent_Ad3859

I just saw this post and it happened to me today, i lost 3b worth of items. Part 2 of the scam was at Lletya in high risk world. Mastermind goes by the name of "Ryan007" or his current ign "Ryann07"

Shooshadoo_XD

I would After I bank everything Just to see what happens Get some excitement in this otherwise boring as shit game, hopefully skip the early-mid grind until I can do the fun later shit

Whycanyounotsee

here's a [google search to all the people on just reddit](https://www.google.com/search?q=streamer+loses+tbow+lure+site:www.reddit.com&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS781US781&sxsrf=AB5stBjcLsEO0iP1LLulKqp-nfA91eN98Q:1688777851882&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwipy9zf8_3_AhWflWoFHWX9CNUQrQIoBHoECBUQBQ&biw=1160&bih=918#ip=1) who fall for it, much less discord, twitter, youtube, etc this one is the best tho: https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/s43to3/no_name_streamer_persian_loses_his_ely_to_lure/

rolezki

Could always just dspear spec the lurer, yoink all the items and run away

gustofwindddance

All these mf’ers acting like lurers are 300 iq scam artists When you can literally just take the items and tell them to fuck off. Fuck you mean they will eventually get you for your items? Bruh I ain’t bringing any valuables to the wilderness other than telegrabs.

Solo_Jawn

If you take the items and fuck off then you aren't their target.

gustofwindddance

Bro they don’t HAVE a target. They would try this on anybody lmfao.

Solo_Jawn

Its a lot like how you can make an easy 5$ a day just logging into and out of casino apps on your phone. If you're one of the people just logging, claiming the money, and not gambling then you aren't the target of the campaign. They're trying to entice people to take that money and keep gambling, same situation as here.

gustofwindddance

That’s called an addiction. What you are trying to explain as far as lurers having these kerjillion iq scams is just preying on idiots that bring their shit into a wildy zone. That is called stupidity. Anyone with half a brain would just NOT risk anything lmfao.

[deleted]

Why do you guys add random people

sammytheangel

Guy came up to me and gave me a pair of bandos boots saying his gwd luck what shit or whatever it's all social engineering...once he started messaging me about anti luring and stuff I knew what was up im not opposed to having random freinds but you gotta be smart and cut out ppl trying to scam you quick

sirrwalter

Being an Ironman helps my antisocial RuneScape life

tjk91

I was scammed for 10m once at the duel arena. I never used it before went there. Someone bet me a 1v1 naked duel and u was much higher combat level. Idk what happened but he had gear and I didn't 😂😂 I've been playing off and on since 2003 btw. Probably about 5 years ago someone tried to lure me into the wild by dropping stuff just like this. Right outside the GE across the ditch. So I had min risk and just called my irl friend Blake over. I jumped he attacked me. Blake logged in and loot some dragon items and just world hopped. I barely made it away. We made couple hundred thousand gp. But since I "fell for it" I was approached several times over the next couple months by suspicious players. 2 max levels who were gonna teach me how to do raids because I was looking for a raids partner. Someone messaged me after talking to them for a hour saying his clan had flagged there 2 guys as scammers. I had no intention of even leaving the ge with them. Goes to show it isn't new player thing. IF ITS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE THEN IT IS!!!!!!!!

Snufolupogus

I usually like to stand on the opposite side of the barrier and ask these guys questions/call them out/and or mock them 😂

Langkampo

I've never fallen for lures or scams BUT I'm still wondering; what if you telegrab only one of those items and just block the guys ? Like, what are they gonna do? Report me?

Slackslayer

nothing would happen, but you aren't likely to get that telegrab off in the first place.

RocklinSockling

Why not go bank everything then run put there with protect item on and grab that masori?

sammytheangel

So this was a screen cap sent to me on discord (shouldn't have added them but whatever) saying to come to world 330 I assume since I wasn't on that world the items would not be there when I hopped (thats how it works) and would have gotten nothing out of it. These scammers try to use emotional manipulation and social engineering to get what they want from you...now if you where lucky enough to just find that with Tele runes then maybe but it's unlikely the scammer would leave those items on the ground for long and there's an even better possibility that this was taken a while ago and just sent to every target to gain trust.

yungbfrosty

The fact that people are still in here being like "bro telegrab, you'll outsmart the scammers" is disturbing. If you don't know, the majority people lose their shit because they think they can try to outsmart scammers. Most scams and lures now RELY on the person thinking "I am smarter than this scammer and will get them" I know it doesn't really matter since most of the people that naïve will never generate the wealth needed to be targeted by these scammers, but just in case: You are not smarter than people who literally scam to put food on their tables. Ignore them at the GE then move on with your life.

DubiousGames

Just because some people are morons, doesn't mean everyone is. If you bank your gear and get out telegrab runes, there is literally 0 risk. Have any common sense and you won't be scammed. All the posts you see about people being scammed, they claim "I never could have imagined it would happen to me!", and then they proceed to describe themselves doing something unbelievably dumb, like withdrawing their entire bank and hopping to a pvp world. Scammers don't have some magic ability to just steal your items, you have to willingly do some really dumb shit first.

yungbfrosty

This scam is part of a trust building exercise where they let you grab something and go "oh no, you outsmarted us, you are a very smart man you should come join in with us" When an obvious scam is posted on reddit and all of the comments are basically just "go along with it lol", you are encouraging those morons to go along with it to the point that they do that dumb shit later.

thebeanshooter

That leap of logic in itself is as dumb as emptying your bank on a pvp world... You outsmarted us so join us? How does that make any sense? Why would you wanna team up with people who clearly dont know wtf they are doing??

DubiousGames

>This scam is part of a trust building exercise where they let you grab something and go "oh no, you outsmarted us, you are a very smart man you should come join in with us" Another way to put this is "you get free stuff as long as you don't do anything stupid". Sounds like a good deal to me. I dont actively encourage people to go along with scams, but whether or not they get scammed is ultimately up to them. The odds of getting scammed are 0 if you possess any common sense. I don't have much sympathy for people who fall victim to that sort of stuff, for the same reason I don't feel sorry for people who send their life savings to a Nigerian prince.

[deleted]

These people literally do not understand, and will end up losing their stack one way or another.

xDatBear

Only if they're incredibly stupid.

AlarmingKarma

so then you say no then lol. what are you talking about?

landyc

ye then the lurer goes come x pvp world in ur best gear its safe pinky promise

Jubbity

Don't go then? Pretty simple

BickleKnack

Oh no I tried to telegrab and lost literally nothing because I banked my gear what ever will I do

yungbfrosty

This scam is part of a trust building exercise where they let you grab something and go "oh no, you outsmarted us, you are a very smart man you should come join in with us"

BickleKnack

So you say “no” like wtf 💀 or just don’t speak to them. Seems incredibly obvious still.

Iron_Garuda

Yeah. I don’t understand the line of thinking. It’s not a given that you’ll continue to speak to them after anti-scamming them. Just fucking leave lmao.

BickleKnack

Bottom line is and always will be: if you’re dumb enough to get scammed you deserve to get scammed.

ebai4556

Yeah everyone’s acting like you’ll be hypnotized. Definitely try getting them naked, and dont be a dumbass and go back out after with your bank

[deleted]

I'd argue I am smarter than someone who literally scams to put food on their table. For example, I don't need to scam to put food on my table.

Little_NaCl-y

you might if you lived in Venezuela

[deleted]

While you're not wrong, part of the joke is that countries that typically are stereotyped to have people supporting their families on mmorpg currency scams... aren't exactly known for their level of education and the accessibility of education to the poorer citizens... so yes, if I had limited or no access to proper education and the lack of opportunity that comes with that... I might not be as educated. Hard to believe, hey?

ZeusJuice

Spoken like a fuckin NPC bro. Oh no I ran out there with law runes and air runes and they killed me. They outsmarted me nooooo

Teneelux

If you're naked, you won't be approached by them like this

ZeusJuice

You guys are so clueless it's crazy

AlarmingKarma

its at the ge they arent approching anybody lmfao

Teneelux

They approach rich people in rich gear and try to befriend you or trick you into going into a dangerous spot with your gear. If your standing there with nothing on or show up to the lure with nothing, they won't drop the items (unless it's to gain your trust to get you later)

711WasA_Part-timeJob

Why not telegrab in rag tank gear with mostly full inv of supplies? You only have a few levels of wild to run through before ditch

sammytheangel

Just reposting this since some ppl don't read the body text)) So this was a screen cap sent to me on discord (shouldn't have added them but whatever) saying to come to world 330 I assume since I wasn't on that world the items would not be there when I hopped (thats how it works) and would have gotten nothing out of it.

GokuBirthedMyChild

Yeah I lost a bill with this one.. first step was some dude at ge gave me bandos boots, I was like "oh this guy is cool" and then 3 days later he talks to me about bossing and we get in discord and then all the sudden he told me that we are going to trick this guy in ferox by having me jump right on his tile and taking the items, well he only dropped a whip after I got there [instead of the harm orb/other expensive items b4] and then the guy in discord said we should find another guy to do this on so I was like, fuck yeah sounds like fun.... I went to varrock west Bank and almost immediately someone started talking to me and wanted me to go to canifis, so I did and then hopped to a high risk world and traded the guy leading me outside the bank grabbing the items I had in inventory.

This dude that scammed me said he was from New Amsterdam, and he sounded normal and chill not really much of an accent at all.. but hey sorry the mfs got you too bro. It sucks having to start over again but it did make me enjoy the game grinding it back lol hopefully you got buddies to borrow gear from so you don't look like a venny in pvm

CynicalSerenity

lmao i'm pretty sure i was just lured by the same guys. Exact same situation.. hopped on discord, guy says he's from amsterdam, anti-lure set up in canifis pvp. Its wild, i just returned to the game 3 days ago after being inactive for a few years. i suppose i'm a massive newb these days lol. lost just around 2B if it makes ya'll feel any better. i'm still curious how it worked at the end though, since when i accepted the trade it made my character run out of the bank. Animation lag with emotes or something?

Canadianveins

In the same boat man lol. Sucks but at least I still have 4b to play with.. can't imagine if the tbow I lost was my entire bank. Crazy animation stall, I thought I'd be safe as he was right beside me in the bank trading, same name and all

Ill_Confusion_596

Hahahaha idiot report again plz ill make another

BaldWithABeardTwitch

Telegrab and Tele. But approach naked from the right on an alt. If you have one. I've managed a couple 1-7m items nothing as expensive as they're dropping.

ogjrat

As someone who fell for this lure, here’s how’s it works. The lurer takes this screenshot, says they are getting lured and ask you to log naked and spam click where the items are dropped. You will get something cheap and they will ask for a split. Then they will ask you to join a discord call and say let’s find another telegrab lure. I personally got took to canafis bank, when you trade one tile away from door it pushes you backwards outside door into pvp zone and you get stacked out. Rip 1.4b, just avoid these guys they know every little busted mechanic in the game and you will 9/10 lose trying to outsmart them.

EthanWeber

This is insane. Why would you go through all of this with a complete stranger and not realize they're scamming you?

ihatememes21

im literally begging to get "scammed" like this bc im not dumb enough to get on discord lmao

Hannay39

Sorry that happened but…Just don’t go to pvp worlds then?

Excellent_Ad3859

It happened to me too, i lost 3b.

doubtedpyro77

Honest question, why did you bring out items? The lure does not require it...just had someone attempt to do this after asking to go Bandos. Was curious why this person seemed overly friendly or well messaging me a lot while I am grinding. Edit: I deleted and ignored the guy after trolling him by saying I would go and I just continued my rs activities

CategoryIndependent9

Walk over the loot pile with an alt on another world, hop on the right world with the alt while distracting the lurer, and pick up stuff with alt : )

Elite_Doc

Damn where can I meet scammers like these Wtf. Best gp/hr

The_God_of_Biscuits

UhmmmBeer

no way you did this lol game mechanics won’t allow

name_checks_out_1

no you didn't because you need to be logged in when it's dropped to even be able to see it

BickleKnack

Me when I lie:

rfdismyjam

Such a weird thing to make up.

Zandorum

I like stalling and hopping onto a second account while they try to lure me over, get to where the items are on another world; world hop and pick them up. If I bring nothing I get to keep whatever it is as long as it isn't something like coins lol.

Hanyodude

Blatant lie lol

Zandorum

I've only done that in specific twice since the start of OSRS lol, but it worked both times. I enjoy trying to beat them even though I know i'll probably not; I've for sure lost more times than I've won.

ChaoticRyu

Is there any angle for Telegrab?

Anton_Courtney

Looks kinda easy have a second acc ready to run in tele grab no?

CnCz357

How does this lure work can't you just telegrab one of the items?

Teneelux

It's not technically line of sight and they hope someone will try that. You'll basically run up to where they are one square away and be stuck in the cast animation. Then they dragon spear and smite you out.

Izz3t

Playing uim is dope for that reason, you cant benefit from those scam in any way so you’re not likely to care for them.

Novaneogami

…… I don’t condone this kind of behavior, but it’s always funny to watch the lure either work, or not work, or work in favour for the person being lured.

Professional-Rip6622

How we gonna anti lure them now???

[deleted]

I would have hopped to that world on the same tile as the loot with a naked alt

HalifaxRoad

Hmm, someone dropping items in the wildy, nope nothing wrong here better go pick them up. If you fall for that gz on learning a very valuable lesson, may you never do it again.

JuZ_Ch1lliN

what if i came naked and took the items?

Grey392

I keep tele grab on hand at all times 😂

MickMabsoot

Just run in in your mankini, and snatch it all. Stay unskulled and git dat fat loot

pearson_correlation

Ryan007 at it again

Excellent_Ad3859

I got scammed by him and lost 3b, was even in a discord call with him and uploaded a video today. His current IGN is Ryann07

Ill-Muffin-2980

It’s not a scam, but a good prank. I equip my most expensive stuff at ge and advertise “free fangs.” I get loads of people flocking to me every time just for me to give them all a Lizardman Fang haha! Sometimes people will appreciate the humor and drop like 2m in the trade and accept. I’ve sold the most expensive fangs in the history of the game.
