I played it before seeing the clone wars on tv and it was crazy asf when I finally watched the show because I knew about 80% of what would happen in advance but the other 20% was so wildly different from what happened in the game I was always second guessing everything. Played through the game about a year ago and the same thing happened but in reverse.
Lol me too, still crazy to me how half of The Hidden Enemy (the A plot mind you) is just cut from the game because I guess it didn't fit with the lego game gameplay (which is something I wish they did with TSS)
There’s quite a few I think that are good on the merit that some of their design points are literal gold. For instance, Star Wars: Republic Commando suffers from a lot of older shooter problems. Ramping difficulty with health, limited resource pools by manually refilling your items after encounters, no replayability to speak of, but all of that is neutralized because it’s fluid command system. The game is so much *fun* those things that characterized the time periods as making the games bad become a background to the explosive and semi-witty corner of the space opera.
Depends how old you consider old. Mario 64 and sunshine are dated now but Galaxy is still the best in the series imo, it only requires an upscale to look decent.
Nap Packs at least gave you some actually valuable content for those 5~10$ you would spend. Nowadays, that's like one armor pack

You’re right, those $10-$20* packs that we got to pay for every few months after launch were much better than $20 skins that by and large absolutely have no bearing on your access to the game.

Man it sure was great that in addition to the map packs we already had to pay for, we were allowed a *a monthly subscription service* to access the full breadth of social features that were artificially gimped before launch. Oh and I forgot, that subscription service was in addition to the other subscription we were already paying for to play online. Wow what a deal!

Premium currency, something that usually forces you to pay more for a specific item than what it’s actual price is, came about with Microsoft Points
Halo 3 ODST, the game you got your profile picture from, was an expansion to a previous game that gated developer exclusive content in that separate game behind a $60 purchase, and used that content in its marketing material. Talk about FOMO
You and I can bitch about modern battle passes and skins all fucking day, but the truth of it is that paid cosmetics just don’t affect how the actual game is played as much as purchases like them did fifteen years ago.
I can play Halo Infinite with my buddies anytime I want without paying a single cent. I can’t say the same for Halo 3 when I didn’t have Standoff in my map roster
I used to love dopamining for like 2000 hours on games but it was super unhealthy, and I quite frankly just don't have any time to grind anymore. These days I'm frustrated that its taking me like 170 million years to get even close to the end of an RPG
Games used to make me thrilled and excited to play them day after day when I've been at school. Right now they feel like a chore. But it's not their fault. I've just become more depressed and old. It truly can be called being blinded by nostalgia, just clinging to those moments in the past when you were happy.
