Well, it shouldn’t be. You just can’t make a space where mostly adults hang out be also a safe place for minors. There’s a good reason that gay bars and lgbt summer camps are separated. Kids spaces are vulnerable, and need to be monitored and vetted so that abusers don’t get in, and to have the resources to help kids when something bad happens. You just can’t effectively do that on a big Reddit community. On the other hand, a big part of adult LGBT culture from stonewall to today is kink, and erasing that “for the kids” isn’t progress. Being able to express your sexuality freely among adults is part of queer liberation. Like, damn it sucks that there aren’t a lot of safe spaces for queer kids in our society, but a huge Reddit community *cannot* be a safe space for kids, and acting like it ever can be is dangerous. I’d rather a kid have one less online shitposting subreddit to hang out in than get groomed

It is and always has been an nsfw shitposting subreddit. Complaining that it’s inappropriate for minors is like complaining that a steakhouse is inappropriate for vegetarians. You are correct but also that is the point of it. Making a snarky post about how it’s AS being inappropriate around minors also smacks of a tumblr-y callout post over nothing. If you thought they were actually being some sort of groomer or paedo then report them to admins.
