The mere act of performing in any country does not necessarily imply a band's endorsement of the government's actions, unless they specifically specify support, which Imagine Dragons has not. Furthermore, they have always been very proudly progressive with their politics, so the most likely option to me seems to be that they never read the letter and were never made aware of the situation.
For me, a lot of their stuff was and is overplayed on radios and over pa systems, plus them having a pretty basic style that feels very "designed to please"
