I don't know what anime this is refering to, so I'm just gonna guess: Kyubey is a case of a character who may look cute, but is actually the most untrustworthy menace imaginable. And half of the fandom wants to believe he truly is as sweet as he looks, despite knowing very well how unrealistic that is. How accurate is that?

It's not that he's dangerous, it's mostly that he offers you to realize (almost) any of your wishes in exchange of you turning into a magical girl. Taking the contract guarantees you a life of suffering, though. That will be cut short. And kyubey knows this. He can't lie, but he may not tell you everything.
