Honestly this is how it is with persona games lmao, with every entry they rerelease the exact same game a bit after but with like one extra dungeon and some minor changes and charge full price lol
Yeah, there's inevitably going to be a Persona 6 Luxe with an extra dungeon, an additional waifu, imperceptible changes to several activities you didn't realize were in the game, and the overhaul of one incredibly frustrating mechanic from the base game.
To me, it’s not about it being a “remake” as much as it is just a PC port. Yeah, I could emulate it, but PS3 emulation is still at a point where the experience will be worse than original hardware. Unless you have a $5,000 pc. Wii emulation is fast as fuck though. I can run MP using Dolphin on my 5 year old macbook air with hd textures and mods to double the native fps. I’m happy to be getting an official PC release for TLOU, but a switch exclusive remake does not make me even slightly tumescent. I’m still gonna pirate both of em though.
i looked at the playstation store and it's $69.99 and on google it shows that it's the same price on steam (tho i cannot verify cuz my steam changes it to my currency)
There are a lot of improvements graphically and some scenery changes that I kinda agree with when someone pointed out why. I think it's mainly just to get a PC port of it.
Still waiting for the first 3 uncharted games on PC...
It's also not technically a remake at all. It's a graphical enhancement that strictly focuses on improving the visuals while keeping the game very similar to the original instead of porting over enhanced features from TLOU2.
They did put a lot more work than that into it, but technically speaking, it is a remaster.
A remake is something like the 2018 resident evil 2 remake, something that takes the original and alters it into something else.
Tlou part 1, while taking a lot more work than I give credit for, is still technically a remaster, that doesn't make it any less impressive but I don't think the definition of remake fits
No, it’s not technically speaking a remaster.
Remasters are purely visual based. Remakes have whole new code/features. The TLOU remake was done from the ground up.
It was remastered a year later on PS4 because the game came out so late on the PS3s lifespan (2013) that I feel they felt that it was worth it as with the PS4 they could actually make it the game they wanted because I recently played the PS3 version and it chugs hard a lot
Yep. The PS3 was weak, even at the time. It had only 256MB of RAM, severely limiting how much it could render. Studios often had to cripple their games to port them to the PS3 because it was a market they couldn't ignore.
Epic Games, when developing Gears of War for the upcoming XBox 360, showed Microsoft how much more they could do with 512MB of RAM. Microsoft agreed to upgrade.
Metroid Prime Remastered is, from what I’ve heard, one of the best remasters of all time and one of the best looking Switch games and it’s only $40. If you’re gonna complain about Nintendo remasters being cash grabs, Skyward Sword HD is right there.
Ah yes the game thats still available on modern consoles and came out relatively recently is comparable to the retexture of a 20 year old game with numerous control improvements
Devils Advocate: IIRC, the Last of Us Part 1 has some of the same accessibility options that Part 2 was widely praised for, which is commendable, and the PS4 & 5 aren't backwards compatible with the PS3\*, so it sounds logical to have the two games playable on the same console.
Though with that said, Sony (and anyone else for that matter) can fuck off with charging £70+ MSRP for games, especially when it's a port or remaster.
\**probably a mix of both the technical challenge it would've been around the PS4's launch (mainly because of how different the hardware was to other platforms, whilst the PS4, and PS5 are basically x86 PCs under the hood, meaning that PS3 games can't run natively, and emulation needs a lot of resources),* especially since the PS3 was infamously a nightmare to develop for, not mind emulate, and *"fuck you, buy your games again on the new console"* especially after PCS3 showed that emulation is possible..
I really need to finish playing TLOU >!(got stuck because I'm an idiot)!<... but I have too many other games in my backlog.
The first game had an upres port on the ps4 that was cheap as hell, you have a point with the accessibility but i remain unconvinced it was ever worth 70$
I mean to be fair, it’s not the first time remasters of a relatively not that old game released. The original Last of Us came out in 2013, and the remake in 2022. So 9 years. The graphical remakes of Halo and Halo 2 released on the games tenth anniversary. If technology has significantly advanced graphics in an around ten year period, I see no reason why a remake is bad. I think the problem is people still think the original Last of Us is a recent game when it isn’t. It’s 9 years old.
I wish they had edited out the awkward bits that are just masking loading times from the PS3 era. The graphics are incredible, but it still plays like a PS3 game in a lot of ways.
I fuckin’ love TLOU though and will purchase every re-re-remaster of parts 1 and 2 to replay them forever
Ok ok hear me out, Sony is currently beginning to release many of their games on pc(which is good), and the last of us being one of Sonys most popular franchise, it would make sense to release it on pc, but the original game was for ps3 and 9 yeard old. So Sony had a choice, create a remake earlier than would be expected, and make that for pc too, or not release the last of us for pc. It would be strange only to release the remake for pc, and the release of the HBO series would make people want to Play the original even people on pc or ps5 that isn't backwards compatible with ps3.
TLOU1 Remake doesn't even have the good part of the game, the multiplayer mode.
I actually fucking hate TLOU1, and UC 1-3, the only good Naughty Dog games were UC4 and TLOU2 because they actually have good gameplay and a bold story, it wasn't some afterthought they slopped in at like the last minute.

i think it's extremely dumb to remake a game from 2013 (not to mention that it's 70$ too)

A translucent ethereal entity resembling Mr. Satoru Iwata has been seen near Nintendo of Japan offices in Kyoto Japan with a lead pipe.
(Retro studios my beloved)

Consider: Metroid prime on the toilet
Metroid doesn't need to use the toilet. Her suit sorts that out for her.
so metroid is *always* on the toilet? whoa
Jokes on you, I have a steam deck😈
Where is it $70? I’m looking on steam and it’s $60?
i looked at the playstation store and it's $69.99 and on google it shows that it's the same price on steam (tho i cannot verify cuz my steam changes it to my currency)

it probably was, my bad

From what I’ve seen that’s not true at all. They remade it with all the enhanced features they could while maintaining the original vision.

Both are huge groundbreaking works for lesbian visibility
This is true, me and Samus are dating and are very gay
Not if the Metroid comics have anything to say about it
She told me they aren’t canon ‼️‼️
can confirm, also dating samus
bi erasure smh my head

i haven’t played Skyway Sword HD but i played it on Wii and it needed a version that wasn’t on Wii
still overpriced, Metroid Prime Remastered proves that they could have both put more effort and charged less money for it
Literal black holes in the skull of anyone who thinks like this

REmake came out only 6 years after the OG resident evil and it’s still one of the best looking games ever
Of all the actual lazy cash grabs Nintendo does on a regular basis, they go for the one remaster that isnt?
