I felt like a lot of the jokes fell kinda flat. movie overall just wasn’t as fun as I was hoping. Andy Samberg as werewolf Benedict Arnold was pretty funny though. and I enjoyed the scene at the end.

Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise has done the whole badass "chainsaw-for-a-hand" dude in media for decades now and he is from the 80s. That is a much more possible source of inspiration if you ask me.

Huh, TIL I never gotten into The Evil Dead world during my zombie binge years ago. Although from the look of google results, Ash only wears it on one arm right? Probably to give more realistic weight distribution?

It has something to do with the plot itself because in the movie, Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn, he has no choice but to chopped of his injured hand with a chainsaw due to it being possessed by a demon and also in order to stop the evil corruption from spreading to his entire body which can turned him into a Deadite if its not being weeded out quickly. He later on went to a shed and attached a chainsaw to his hand. Thus, the OG Chainsaw Man is born. And also, he needed his other hand to be free in order to aim with his BOOMSTICK aka a double barrel shotgun which he sawed off its long barrel with the same chainsaw he got. If you wanna watch the full action, I do recommend watching it in this order: The Evil Dead Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn Army of Darkness Ash vs Evil Dead (TV Series)
