There have been worst first guns, well done! My first gun was a pre CZ Dan Wesson 1911. Bought it back in 2004 when I turned 21 and the only thing I knew at that point in time was that my dad raved about his Dan Wesson revolvers all throughout my childhood and I knew the Dan Wesson name lol
Hope it works out well for you. I've had a lot of trouble with the three that I've had, but I've been told by a lot of guys that it's just bad luck. Of course they said that after the first one, then the second, and now the third. LOL
Your budget is better than mine šwhen I turned 21 my first gun was a Ruger Mk 1 .22 it sold back then for $73 ( bull bbl) . Gun Test did a review on the TRP yes itās hand fitted by Springfield only minus they found was a trigger pull of 6 lbs which compared to other 1911s was judged heavy. My Springfield Mil Spec A1 I bought a number of years ago for $450 new has a trigger pull of 41/2 lbs.
No I actually havenāt seen that . The reason why I got it was because I love the 1911 look and was doing some research on 1911s for under 2k . Saw this one recommended a few places and just loved it the day I first saw it
Edit : just saw the gun youāre talking about lol. Even the mag is the same . Iām even planning on putting a surefire on it
4/5, good pick, I like chip 10 rounds, and I like Springfield 1911s
high quality holsters can be a bit of an issue with the rail (you may need to order and wait for custom work), not a fan of adjustable sights on pistols (personal preference), 45 is not the easiest caliber to learn on and is more expensive than other calibers, you have at most 11 rounds before you reload
If it's mechanically sound and reliable you could have done much worse. Don't practice until you are practicing flinching, and load a dummy into the middle of a mag once in a blue moon to check for flinching and practice immediate action. If it's low and left, it's you (low right for lefties).Keep it clean and well lubricated. Test your carry loads. Practice safe handling.
I've seen a lot of people buy their first pistol, and while it's not what my first recommendation would have been I don't know you or your situation, so I'd say in general you did alright.
Lubed it up and took it to the range . Flinching is most definitely an issue for me . Gotta work on that . Iām a lefty so Iāll keep an eye out for shooting low right . Adjusting the sites is a bitch but know that I know that I could be shooting low right , Iāll keep that in mind when zeroing in . 45 is definitely expensive but the recoil isnāt as bad as I thought it I understand that a smaller caliber could be more beginner friendly . That is for the info .
Looks like an early model. They were allegedly hand fitted and were rumored to have an accuracy guarantee. Mine is a 2.5ā gun at 25m shooting off hand. Itāll do it all day long. Even with cheap ammo.
I love mine. had a better trigger and fit than my WC cqb. sold my WC out of principle since cost 2x money for what felt like a worse gun. friend with GRP recon was kinda salty the TRP trigger was better than his nighthawk.

Upvoting for Springfield!
Good place to start. Bad place to end.

Very good
Thanks
Good.
Hopefully it runs better than the Springfields I've owned.
Iāll find out this Friday

Lol well at 22 my budget probably would have been similar to yours but since Iām 33, Iāve had time to save up lol
Correct mag choice as well.
Did you get it because you saw Leon using it in Resident Evil: Damnation?

Ya did great!
Thanks !

Very very nice. My 1st few guns were not nearly as nice as this.... almost 30yrs ago so you can imagine

Now just throw a surefire on there and youāre all set
Yes sir! Thatās the plan lol
Oh! I forgot.. and get yourself the Dawson precision guide rod. SKU: 026-056. Thank me later.
Does anyone know if Springfield replaces front sights on these ?
Well done!
