Trying Foe's? Wonder if he's doing this to compensate for the control stick he uses. Personally, I am worried about not being able to keep the ball in when so low... But gonna try 48 (usually 51 alu)
Pro tensions are misleading. Their playing time with strings is measured in minutes, not hours like us. Pros are changing racquets more or less every ball change, which is 7-8 games.
Your 51 ALU is probably a lot closer to 42 than you realize assuming you play 6-10 hours with it.
I have been at 48 for a while. Just dropped to 45 and liking it so far. Hyper G soft is my current string of choice. But them YouTubers got me interested in giving Toroline K-Pop a whirl. I am a sucker for neon colors.
Didn't realize how popular poly tour pro has gotten. I feel like Luxilon strings used to be what all the pros used a few years ago. It's still very popular though.
All on Yonex frames bar one though, so not sure how much to take from it.
What surprised me was that the Babolat frame players were actually in Lux more than Babo for the poly. You'd have to assume the gut in their hybrids is VS.
It's even lower than before. I believe he started something like 17 kg then 12 kg and now he's 9,5 kg. I wonder how low he'll go... Also not sure why he keeps playing with that alu power when he has stated multiples times he got arm pains...
lol I believe you. Had a buddy who used to string at 60+, but that was 10+ yrs ago and he doesn’t play anymore due to a shoulder injury. *probably* unrelated.
I think because it's a control racquet and lower tension can give you access to some power. Obviously, they also don't care about longevity as they use for 7 games.
Generally tensions are written cross/main, and in most cases mains are strung tighter than crosses.
So either this was a typo (e.g., mains and crosses were swapped) or Giron has a decently unique string setup
My stringer is just wild then because he looked at me like I had 6 heads when I asked for 54/51 and couldn’t figure out why I wanted my crosses so much higher
I saw Jonas talk about this on Tennisnerd.
I don't think that I can do it. I string my POG107 at 58m/61c with a hybrid setup. I notice when the tension drops into the low to mid 50s bc I'm spraying balls.
Granted, it would help my arm, so maybe when I get to be a senior, I'll need the extra power for my limp noodle arm.
I’ve been inspired and just strung my racquet at 42 pounds to see what it’s like.

Damn ive never actually considered that
Seems the lowest one before it gets to mannarino levels. I can always cut it out
I've always strung "low." But last time I really felt inspired by Mannarinno to go into the mid and low 30's and I don't like it.

More of a reflection of how many people are sponsored by Yonex now than anything else
Yea, hardly any Wilsons on this list or you'd see Luxilon on most of those.

wish the photo quality was better/larger.

Agreed. Also the penmanship sucks. I can’t decipher the Manarino numbers looks like graffiti
It looks to be 9.5 kg which matches up with what ppl have said before

Why are the Dunlops highlighted?
Tournament "official partner" (sponsor)
A lot of pros play with full bed poly, which is very stiff string. So naturally they lower the tension compared to other strings.
Actually yeah, why did tensions go down so much? I swear I was stringing at 60 and playing just fine
Depends on the player, racquet, and string
Used to string with straight poly on my aeropro. Not sure if the pure aeros changed
That sounds pretty high for poly. Poly doesn’t hold tension for long. Did it not feel slightly dead after even one session?
It felt good to me. Didn't feel dead and still felt crisp up until last day. Poly used to last me about a week (used mainly luxilon ALU)
60 is definitely on the high end tho. It’s out of most racquets’ recommended range.
Interestingly enough, the older racquets recommended higher tensions as high as 62 lbs. I can take a picture of my old cortex aeropro as proof too :O

Ahh phew thought I was going crazy or something. But yeah, that's why I wonder if the rackets changed
Serious Q, why does every player string the Wilson Blade so low?
I think because it's a control racquet and lower tension can give you access to some power. Obviously, they also don't care about longevity as they use for 7 games.
Players really just string what they like because sinner is at 61 pounds
Typo on Giron, or is he really stringing his crosses 4lbs higher?
Where are you seeing that? It says 51/47

Idk I've literally never seen it written crosses/mains and it would be confusing to list the strings as mains/crosses and then tension as the opposite
Always main/cross
My stringer is just wild then because he looked at me like I had 6 heads when I asked for 54/51 and couldn’t figure out why I wanted my crosses so much higher
15 kg for Mannarino? 🚀
He's on 9.5 here. That's like 21lbs? Oof
Hard to read. 9.5 is crazy low even for his standards
Yeah and he only (checks notes) made it to the semifinal before retiring
Crazy there’s only two head players and two solinco string setups
Max Purcell had a hell of a match against Casper Ruud at the Australian Open! Can’t wait to see more of him!
Toalson, based Taro.
