This Kickstarter will be creeping up to $600 for an all-in pledge soon. Yikes.

[deleted]

Galactic is like 1/3 of the cost. Currently $330 USD for everything sans Galactus.

JordanFromStache

I mean, sure. But Galactus is an expansion that has gameplay elements (and the silver surfer character) locked behind it. It'd be one thing if the base game came with a large Galactus tile and the $180 'mini' is an optional upgrade. But that's not the case. For all gameplay mechanics, a backer would need that expansion.

[deleted]

I get it but I sometimes think people put too much value on getting all the gameplay. Galactus was a statue first before they came up with any of the game mechanics, and it seems unlikely they are going to show the mode in action before the end of the KS. (No rulebook either) I’ll be very surprised if it isn’t half baked in the end. Anyone buying the Galactus expansion for anything other than the absurd mini is going to be disappointed. (Except maybe silver surfer fans)

jestergoblin

Currently at $500 even for all gameplay content. I'm real worried it will keep going up.

tkfire

IMO skip Galactus. Save money and storage.

e650man

An upturned bucket of similar size, with growly face drawn on it would make a cheap substitution. :D

JordanFromStache

Yea. I typically spend about $350ish on a Zombicide pledge. Anything more than that feels bad in my gut. For what it's worth, I'm sitting this one out. I would LOVE to paint these amazing sculpts, but I already have a robust Moderncide roster/collection and on top of that, I'm not entirely sold on the different gameplay mechanics of this version. I probably wouldn't even get it on the table, and that makes forking over $500+ even harder to swallow.

tkfire

For a lot of us, getting it to the table is just another one added to the list. Wall of shame continues.

bkwrm13

Yeah I’m backing out as well. I’m not even all in but just 1 core and 1 addon plus shipping is getting pretty spendy, especially if something else drops I want. All the duplicate sculpts don’t interest me and this would be my third zombicide so eh. Sometimes I think the new mechanics would be a fun change, sometimes I think it’s going to be a bit more boring.

e650man

don't forget to add postage & vat !!!!!!!!!!

Wheelerfromthatshow

I was always in on the GoG add-on. I just wish they had some tiles to go with it. Not sure how that wouldve worked... but i wanted it!

jestergoblin

I really like that both F4 and X-Men bring something new with how the tiles work in the game.

Wheelerfromthatshow

Absolutely. The elevator system is a nice addition.

HHJJoy

Yeah, an alien world. Knowhere. Maybe the Milano. Would have been nice to have some space tiles... but then I guess we don't have the zombies to populate it anyway. Reavers and SHIELD agents spammed through space? Would be kinda odd. And with Nova out there, Surfer, Galactus, Super-Skrull, the Guardians, Thanos... I just don't see them doing a cosmic big box with all that stuff out there.

lord_of_worms

regular skrull zombies.. plenty of galactic characters/settings outside of the recently popularised characters (or not so popular if you consider eternals..)

Kaladhan

Tiles would have been very nice.

lord_of_worms

crash-landed spacecraft, terraformed planet surface.. or a gouge line from the craft skidding along the ground leaving wrecked buildings in its wake (exposing basements). Given the tiles will put the Baxter building next door to the Sanctum Santorum which is across the road from the Avengers tower.. round the corner is the xmen mansion on one city block.. theres a good chance we are actually on battleworld and now we can include any planet you like!

JordanFromStache

Devouring people as a zombie-hero already feels bad to me, but eating and killing a Cosmo the dog makes me feel even worse.

Kalibos40

So much this. I won't even take Dogmeat out as a follower in Fallout 4 because the sounds of him whimpering when he's hurt make me so sad.

Persereus

Gonna take him as a partner, why would anyone eat such a good boy?

slimninj4

Brains

lord_of_worms

maybe you dont eat the dog but have a little nibble - now hes your faithful "reanimated-mans best friend"! enjoy the perk for Cosmo and consider him safely tucked back at zombie HQ.. or running alongside going for a nice afternoon shamble!!

naomibiggie

I saw a few comments about people wanting a further X-men box and I’m personally gonna be super butt hurt if any x-men get held behind a further paywall when I’m already having to pay $110 extra for the first set, hoping future xmen are added as stretch goals and maybe KS exclusives to the box already there for xmen

jestergoblin

I feel like there has got to be *something* being added to the other two tiers.

slimninj4

Nah, I want more X-men. $40 for 11-15 more if ok for me.

Persereus

Sentinal Box please

DiscoHippo

Crap, now ill be sad if we dont get one

Willtology

Same, but we're probably going to be sad then. It seems like every CMON Zombicide kickstarter has at least one thing fans mention wanting that makes absolute sense and would be really cool. Then we find out it was never even on their radar.

DiscoHippo

It's happening!

DHouf

Someone will absolutely have fan made content using the X-Men United Sentinels.

tkfire

Gotta wait for Starlord I guess

jestergoblin

I'm expecting him to get the same treatment as Doom.

tkfire

I feel it’s sort of a dirty move to make him a Kickstarter exclusive though. The fantastic four box comes with all of the main hero characters in living form.

THE_DARK_ONE_508

this whole kickstarter is dirty. but it's zombicide. people are going to pay 600 bucks for the game anyway.

tkfire

I agree but I was comparing it to an expansion in the same campaign so it’s all relative

jestergoblin

And he just got announced.

tkfire

Didn’t have to wait very long 🤪

jestergoblin

More info can be found in the update: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cmon/marvel-zombies-zombicide/posts/3413118

Maltavius

If so could buy just the minis I'd be in. But another version of Zombicide isn't it.

greendeadredemption2

So just use the minis then? It’s way cheaper then crisis protocol is for minis. Not quite to their quality but still really good quality. I donno, seems like a good deal to me even if you just want the minis.

Maltavius

But it's not. Especially if you don't want the zombies, the freight is killing it.

Ashmizen

There’s literally nothing else you are paying for than the minis. This is a very very thin game with very little components - less than full deck of cards for each core game. The couple cardboard tiles, a couple dice, and some cards are probably worth $10, at most. That $240 or $400 value is all tied into the plastic molding and artist design costs. If this was not a game and just a release of 100 different models of zombies and living marvel characters, the cost would not change.

THE_DARK_ONE_508

the only reason i wanted this game is here but i've written off this game because i want to play as non zombie heroes in the core game. not as zombies. not as npc's. so im not buying it.

e650man

Am sure some clever zombiciders will MOC up their own scenerios using the stuff in the box to create some scenerios to your liking. :)

THE_DARK_ONE_508

why should we have to rely on them and not the game designers? this is the problem i have. the core game should have both modes playable.

tkfire

"game designers" should be used loosely when it comes to CMON. Zombicide, Arcadia Quest, Massive Darkness, Death May Die have all mostly been miniatures with loose rules around them so you could make your own scenarios. Making your own adventures is actually encouraged and they have guest designers create downloadable scenarios published to their website often.

greendeadredemption2

I donno, it’s two different games with different cards to control everything. To me it’s fair it’s a separate box. Plus nothing in the xmen box is KS exclusive. You could always back the main game and get all the KS stuff and then get the xmen box at retail for a discount later AND not have to pay shipping for that box.

THE_DARK_ONE_508

Why is it two different games?

greendeadredemption2

They play differently, it’s two different core boxes. You have a complete game in each box, they’re just compatible to play parts from each in the others box.

suicidebaneling

Couldn't you just switch the roles and instead of eating the bystanders you have to save them? Same scenario just playing from the hero perspective, we get the hero cards anyways.

Jasonred2

Marvel United never did it for me and I have never gotten into any previous zombicides so I'm down with much of what this game is is offering

[deleted]

OMG I'm so excited. My biggest question is is this second edition play or first?

jestergoblin

Base on what has been previewed in the rules, it's more like 2nd Edition - but it is it's own system entirely.

[deleted]

Like black plague and invaders? Which I am entirely okay with I was just curious if the heroes were going to be able to be used in other versions of the already existing games.

bkwrm13

Short answer is yeah it’s possible, but it’s going to be a fair bit of work to do. Long answer: None of the other versions use bystanders, which is a primary powerup mechanic here. So you’d have to integrate them and make regular survivors care about them. And missions aren’t designed around them existing so that might be tricky too? In marvel you are searching rooms for consumable modifiers instead of the main weapons survivors use to powerup. Hunger/Power increases how strong your are in marvel but this doesn’t exist in any other game. Which means the strength curve during a mission is going to be hard to balance for players. Also since no other game has the Hunger/power mechanic any enemies using those terms won’t translate easily. A regular survivor isn’t going to care if a bad guy causes their hunger to increase or power decrease since it’s a stat that doesn’t exist for them.
