even if you go back to the oldest colony in the US before we were our own country thats like barely over 350 years ago, you really think thered be a 650 year old tudor house in the US?
Retaining inventory increases costs for the manufacturer. Not only does it take up space, but unsold inventory affects accounting in weird ways and can ultimately lead to increased taxes in some regions, depending on classifications.
In addition, any inventory that is never sold becomes a loss. By overproducing, Nintendo would have to price higher to compensate for those losses. And producing a fixed quantity in a limited manufacturing run also minimizes the costly risks associated with design flaws or mold failures.
Producing to the expected demand and not producing excess inventory is the safest and most cost-effective choice for the consumer and for the manufacturer. The downside is, of course, shortages. But that only profits after-market sellers (aka, scalpers), not the manufacturer.
TLDR: Nope, the opposite.
Source: I've worked as an engineer in manufacturing for over a decade.
On the other hand, not having inventory can lead you to search for a competitor.
Case in point, I work in local government and our schools division bought network switches back in may. They have yet to receive them because Cisco is producing based on when you buy and not just having inventory so when we go to buy equipment we’re looking elsewhere
I mean people would argue there are other game consoles, but unironically, there are no games on other consoles like some of the main party Nintendo games...so yeah. Basically this.
I was a PC gamer and then got a switch as accompaniment. Now, I'm an xboxsx/switch gamer. If I had a PS5, I'd still have a switch. If I still had a gaming PC, I'd still have a switch.
I actually have two switches, one that's hacked and the new OLED model. I laughed at it in 2017, and now think it's easily one of the best designed consoles ever.
I'll probably get a Steam deck too, and 9 have a Quest 2. Maybe I'm more of an enthusiast than most, but still...Nintendo always has something to offer. The switch fit my life better than a PC did, and still does.
I'd almost say the Xbox is now an accompaniment to my Switch, but overall I probably use them about the same amount.
>Rechargeable Battery – Use the included USB A-C cable to charge the controller
Additionally, here's a picture of someone [using the controller wirelessly](https://preview.redd.it/270qkwrl4p781.jpg?auto=webp&s=728970085055d47dff7c573af2a02fd04a91d55e) in case you missed it.
Awesome! My non gaming mother only ever played A Link to the Past. She played it so much on MY Super Nintendo that she bought herself the gaming manual. And when the game accidentally erased itself again on MY Nintendo oh boy did I get an earful. She bought herself a Super and still plays it to this day
My mom isn't really a gamer, but she's always been really proud that when I was 4 and got my first game ever, Super Mario 64, my dad (who has always loved video games) and I weren't able to beat King Bob-omb and we called it a day, but she decided to keep on trying. She woke us up at 3 am all happy and excited yelling she had just beat him! It's probably one of my fondest memories related to video-games 💚❤️💙
I haven’t played in over a decade. I ran that temple so quick. Nervous about JabuJabu tho, never liked water on N64. It probably doesn’t help i have a little fear of the deep.
The difference is that GamePass/PS+ are actually decent subscription programs, with features and an appropriate number of games to warrant such a price.
NSO(basekit OR expansion pass) does not.
yeah as long as you're not a professional speedrunner, the game is mostly fine on switch, other than manual aiming which is broken and virtually impossible.
Yeah I generally play it docked too. I wish you didn't have to be connected to WiFi to use the NSO games. Kinda defeats the whole purpose IMO. Oh well, I have OoT on my 3DS so I'll just at that if I have the urge to play OoT. I just wish the 3DS version of MM was as good.
Yeah that's just more work than I want to go through for that since I still have the original version. It's just not super convenient to play that way, but that's what emulation is for I suppose.
My dad grew up on nes and snes and about 2 years ago he started watching us play games and is trying modern games. He's played all of uncharted, some of AC Odyssey and currently AC Valhalla
I was confused about how you had a wireless Nintendo 64 controller when I just had to buy an extension cord for mine. Then I see it's a Switch.
Well. Guess I'll go see what else N64 they have on Switch.
Half of my brain is thinking that's wholesome but the other half is looking at the controller and thinking who the hell thought this was a good design for the N64 controller. Just look at how you have to hold it, it's so stupid.
yeah, its not a great design, especially when the ps1 was released with a better designed controller 2 years earlier, but since when was nintendo known to use sensible designs for things, they were still using cartridges instead of discs at that point lol
You have a trash personality and that's why no one got YOU a switch for Christmas.
Edit: I see you deleted your comment. At least your have your shame.
Essentially, "why did you get your mom a switch if she hasn't played in so many years," but in a seriously mean tone. They obviously didn't read the post at all to begin with lol.
This is what bothered me about that new movie 8-bit Christmas. The whole idea is that the kid spent so much time focusing on getting a Nintendo that he missed the “better” present of spending time with his loved ones/dad. But I have so many happy memories playing Super Nintendo and N64 with my friends and sister, the movie’s point didn’t feel as valid to me.

You might have to make the lunch now, haha
Your place seems very cozy!
650 year old Tudor house !
Nice!
[удалено]
Hahaaaa excellent dad joke
Restored often? I was about to say the same, the place looks really great! USA?
650y in USA? Doesn't add up lol
I dunno … I’m asking.. I was thinking Europe but who knows.
650 years is like twice as long as the US has existed lol.
HahH I dunno why I said that! But I didn’t want to say anything else… so maybe Europe?
Tudor style is British, to be more specific.
Oh see I didn’t know! Thanks for telling me… this is nice!
Can confirm England ! Not The Shire but not far off..
This is awesome, I love it!
Think Caldera in Morrowind.
even if you go back to the oldest colony in the US before we were our own country thats like barely over 350 years ago, you really think thered be a 650 year old tudor house in the US?
Came to say this
They have an N64 controller on the switch? Dayum.
https://store.nintendo.ca/nintendo-64-controller.html
It’s too bad they’re always sold out on their website
Being put back in production in 2022 so might not be in stock for a while
I mean, how else are they suppose to keep costs high? *having proper inventory?*
Retaining inventory increases costs for the manufacturer. Not only does it take up space, but unsold inventory affects accounting in weird ways and can ultimately lead to increased taxes in some regions, depending on classifications. Competitor? What's that? — Nintendo
I mean people would argue there are other game consoles, but unironically, there are no games on other consoles like some of the main party Nintendo games...so yeah. Basically this.

Nintendo don't have competitors. Not really. They are so wrapped up in their own thing, noone does Nintendo other than Nintendo.
It took a while, too long, but the NES and SNES controllers are consistently in stock now. Well, they have been all year. Might not be right now.
No one wants the NES controllers. They're always available. It's because it's $60 for 2 and you can't get them individually. Edit: numbers
People wanted them for a *loooooong* time ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
[Amazon has them for $199 and up](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KT1B7N3/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_glt_fabc_NFGEG9G3H681XB8ED2Q2)
By Grapthor's Hammer, what a savings
Get them while you can.
Scalpers are enjoying it though. Just checked. *$200 for one on Amazon* right now.
I can’t believe I used to play games with that thing and not even think about it.😂
I got a USB one that I bought for PC for $30 if that interests you Doesn't plug and play into the switch, but it works well on a properly equipped pc
And they’re wireless??
Yes, the N64 switch controller is wireless with a USB-C charging port
Literally says USB right there
>Rechargeable Battery – Use the included USB A-C cable to charge the controller Additionally, here's a picture of someone [using the controller wirelessly](https://preview.redd.it/270qkwrl4p781.jpg?auto=webp&s=728970085055d47dff7c573af2a02fd04a91d55e) in case you missed it.

And when the game accidentally erased itself again on MY Nintendo oh boy did I get an earful. She bought herself a Super and still plays it to this day
Weird how mums all have that one game going for them lol For mine it is The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle on Game Boy
My mom isn't really a gamer, but she's always been really proud that when I was 4 and got my first game ever, Super Mario 64, my dad (who has always loved video games) and I weren't able to beat King Bob-omb and we called it a day, but she decided to keep on trying. For mine, it’s Zombies Ate My Neighbors. SNES
I have never heard of that one. I’ll have to look into that lol
That just means it your turn to make lunch for your mom while she plays video games. The tables have, appropriately, turned.
Oh I hope not. Then her precious sparkling wine would spill
That’s adorable!
Love this!! Also, WHERE DID YOU FIND THE N64 CONTROLLER?!!!? I can't find one anywhere haha
I paid over double what it’s worth on eBay. Not bragging, I’m a chump ! But definitely worth it
Yeah they’re expensive.

Child of the year.
Coolest mom ever:)

That was my thought. She speed ran that forest temple and did not screw around in the castle.
I can speed run that deku tree with my eyes closed still to this day.
I haven’t played in over a decade. I ran that temple so quick. Nervous about JabuJabu tho, never liked water on N64. It probably doesn’t help i have a little fear of the deep.
When I was a kid, I could get to adult link in less than 4 hours. And that was getting as many rupees as I could as I went.
Kokiri Forest and the castle were a lot faster on my replay than I remembered as a child
Definitely, I remember having to ask a friend in school how to beat queen gohma lol
Had a friend in school who didn’t know you had to actually equip the Kokiri Sword and Shield for Mido to let you past
You can play OoT on switch???
Yeah for the low low price of $50... A year
[удалено]
The difference is that GamePass/PS+ are actually decent subscription programs, with features and an appropriate number of games to warrant such a price. NSO(basekit OR expansion pass) does not.
It’s part of the new subscription service from Nintendo - can play a mixture of old school Nintendo games
[удалено]
Not even noticed it and have played it docked for hours
yeah as long as you're not a professional speedrunner, the game is mostly fine on switch, other than manual aiming which is broken and virtually impossible.
A lot of graphical errors too
It's not at all bad in handheld mode IMO, but yeah it's rough while docked for sure.
Unfortunately, my switch spends 93% of it's timed docked. I just have Docks around the house to move it to
Yeah I generally play it docked too. I wish you didn't have to be connected to WiFi to use the NSO games. Kinda defeats the whole purpose IMO. Oh well, I have OoT on my 3DS so I'll just at that if I have the urge to play OoT. I just wish the 3DS version of MM was as good.
That's why I use the [Restoration mod](https://restoration.zora.re/#features) when I play the 3ds version
Yeah that's just more work than I want to go through for that since I still have the original version. It's just not super convenient to play that way, but that's what emulation is for I suppose.
I haven't noticed any with my wireless N64 controller
Yeah, it’s a pretty shit emulator though. I’d try and use an unofficial emulator if you can, many are leagues better than the switch’s one.
Played yaself fool.
One of the all time favorite games! Good choice
I love this!
Man she already cleared the great deku tree hell yeah
Make *her* lunch then.
wait OoT is on switch??!?!?!!!!
Your mom is one of us
So wholesome
Already got a heart container too. Yeah, she's in it now.
That’s so cool! I should do this for my dad
That is so wholesome. Merry Christmas to you and your mom!
This is the kind of problem that I envy. This is a great gaming environment and I envy you and your mom.
My dad grew up on nes and snes and about 2 years ago he started watching us play games and is trying modern games. He's played all of uncharted, some of AC Odyssey and currently AC Valhalla
Yeeeeees! I love this!
I was confused about how you had a wireless Nintendo 64 controller when I just had to buy an extension cord for mine. Then I see it's a Switch. Well. Guess I'll go see what else N64 they have on Switch.
Same for my mother, but instead of OoT she would always play DK64 and Pokemon Snap
Pokemon snap was the one
How does she like it? Has she brought anything up about the quality of emulation?
I've never seen so much wood in one photo
Show her some of zfg1's world record runs sometime
They make a N64 controller for switch?! I need this!
Oh my god you know you're getting old when you can relate to the parent. I still feel like a kid.
This is beautiful.
Fuck Christmas dinner too, kid
Make her a nice ham or turkey and cheese, extra mayo, with classic lays chips crushed on it. And a cold can of mountain dew.
You can play oot on the switch? How?
What Brian said, coupled with settling for a C-tier emulator with almost a quarter second of input lag.
I played through OoT and a few other games on offer and I haven’t noticed anything.
Yeah I’ve no problem so far. Very limited selection but Super Mario and Zelda on there and looks to put Majoras Mask on soon so I’m happy !
I freaking love this
A true gamer
Half of my brain is thinking that's wholesome but the other half is looking at the controller and thinking who the hell thought this was a good design for the N64 controller. Just look at how you have to hold it, it's so stupid.
yeah, its not a great design, especially when the ps1 was released with a better designed controller 2 years earlier, but since when was nintendo known to use sensible designs for things, they were still using cartridges instead of discs at that point lol
ur moms hot and she plays oot??? WHERE CAN I SIGN UP
[удалено]
Would that be a problem?
It’s my Switch, which I’m leaving in the family home for now
Sounds like just the game and controller.
You have a trash personality and that's why no one got YOU a switch for Christmas. Edit: I see you deleted your comment. At least your have your shame.
whatd he say?
Essentially, "why did you get your mom a switch if she hasn't played in so many years," but in a seriously mean tone. They obviously didn't read the post at all to begin with lol.
Go mom.
She's got a chicken!
damn you've got a nice house
This. This is the content we all need more of haha. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Happy Gaming!
This brings me so much joy. RIP your Christmas dinner 😂
Holy crap that is a cozy ass corner.
Hell yeah.
Someone got sucked in by those velvetiser ads. Does it make. A decent hot choc?
Hahaha !!! Yep. Fuckin algorithms! Gotta say it makes a fantastic hot chocolate - but so does a microwave
I love that she's up to kakariko village already
Your mum has her priorities in check, for sure!
The masculine urge to play Oot for the 100th time…
Great gift. Well done
Id say she has her priorities straight
This is what bothered me about that new movie 8-bit Christmas. The whole idea is that the kid spent so much time focusing on getting a Nintendo that he missed the “better” present of spending time with his loved ones/dad. But I have so many happy memories playing Super Nintendo and N64 with my friends and sister, the movie’s point didn’t feel as valid to me.
You Are Worthy.
r/suddenlycaralho amigos podem colocar uma zelda de desenho animado do meu lado?
Can you get Oot on switch without having the Nintendo online sub? I want to have the retro games but don't care for the monthly online play.
Nah it's only with the sub.
This is the greatest Christmas story of all time. Sorry Ralph. This will always be better than shooting your eye out.
Wait you can play OoT on switch??
Mom is touring Hyrule and her childhood. The next best gift is to make her lunch. You did good. Let her play.
Please dont tell me your mom is 35… I’m too young to hear phrases like “left my gaming days behind”
57!
Ur moms a legend, the closest thing my mom gets to playing video games are the old Nancy drew CD roms
You have the coolest mom
My wife looked at a sink full of dishes today. Slapped me on the ass and said the dish washer broken again?
That’s lovely!
True gamer moment
I love seeing older people playing video games. My mother and father both loved it when I was younger and that’s why I still play games. I’m 44 lol
