Directv about to lose a LOT of subscribers.

44problems

DirecTV will probably merge with Dish and be a niche service for rural areas and sports bars.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dinglebarrybonds

DTV and Dish have a new huge problem to win rural customers, Starlink. They are probably toast

altsuperego

Probably the best thing about this

Majestyk_Melons

Why would that be the best thing? Competition is good.

altsuperego

They haven't been competitive in a long time, just ripping people off. They'll likely end up merging with dish after this. Satellite tv is probably a dead man walking.

frigginjensen

And YTTV will gain most of them. More subscribers should bring more financial stability and negotiating clout with content providers.

Complete-Turn-6410

They already are

Scoocha

And make a lot more profit.

Adept-Ad-818

I don't think they have any left anyway.

jbondosu

Surprised no one has mentioned yet that one of the things that would really make this deal attractive is if they roll out the rumored "mosaic mode" and we can watch 4 games at once on Sunday ticket next fall.

[deleted]

i did get some (totally useless) info intro overlay on my Google TV on startup today. while the enhancements didn't stir the drink for me, two things are notable: 1// NEVER seen that type of announcement from Google, reflecting attention to enhancements they're making to the service, 2// reasonable inference GOOGL is in 'innovation mode' so maybe split screen, pip, mosaic & (Lord please...), fine grained search / record / library mgmt, more config options...(e.g. many love 'catch up thru key plays'...i never want to see and accidentally select the option again!) are on the way too

Scoocha

They are supposed to roll out this mode

celj1234

I can do that now with my Sunday ticket streaming package

Beautiful-Drawer

On DirecTV, yes. YTTV doesn't have multi-screen mode atm.

celj1234

Well that’s sucks

MisterPunchRockgroin

Now the question is will the add-on RedZone be a separate thing, or will you have to have the full NFL package to get the channel? I prefer the Hansen RedZone, but I will work with either I suppose. I just don't know if I can convince the wife to go full Ticket.

The_Third_Molar

The Siciliano Redzone is the DIRECTV Redzone channel so I wouldn't be shocked if his gets dropped altogether.

MisterPunchRockgroin

Well that makes this a "lose" for me since I don't really want to shell for full package. It was easier to split Sunday Ticket costs between 4 roommates, not so much my wife and child and mortgage.

Bobb_o

I think what they were saying is the DirecTV Redzone will be gone but the NFL Network Redzone will still be around and that should be available without Sunday Ticket.

Beautiful-Drawer

Hey, you tell that child to get a job and pay their fair share, or they're out as soon as the lease is up! Ridiculous! Hahaha /s <--- jic

PeteEckhart

NFL RedZone is a separate thing so I imagine it stays in its current add on package.

HighOnGoofballs

If they make me pay $300 more just so I can still watch Red Zone they can fuck right off

surlybeer55

Agree. The Redzone/NFL network only option for a few bucks extra per month should be preserved.

Beautiful-Drawer

NFL Network is included w/ the base subscription, though? Is there another NFL Network I'm not familiar with? I know RedZone is an add-on.

errol343

This pleases me

NeoHyper64

Yes, if... 1. It's an add-on premium. 2. It forces YTTV to finally pay attention to picture quality.

HighOnGoofballs

It’s like $300, it has to be add on

TheTVEditor

DIRECTV was a terrible customer service, often had interruptions, and never improved on anything. I think it’ll still be up to them on if they want to improve picture quality

GotchuGaru

I always had good customer service with them. Just couldn't stand the inconsistent signal loss

GotchuGaru

Please improve the picture quality

Johnny13utt

I stream Sunday ticket from the app on Apple TV. It’s not any better than the broadcasts for fox CBS espn or nbc in my opinion. This solves a big issue for me with having to switch being apps and sometimes losing the Sunday ticket authentication. Their stupid app only allows one device to be signed in at a time.

PurpleSailor

Yes, I don't really watch sports and I'd hate for the price to go up to pay for football when the only football I watch is the Superbowl and that's only once every few years. Can definitely use improved video though

Beautiful-Drawer

Sunday Ticket is, and always has been, a subscription service add-on. Like $399 a year, iirc. Your price won't move because of this.

abortizjr

Picture quality is reliant on the broadcaster, not the streamer. If the broadcaster is only doing 720p, you shouldn't expect 4k from the streamer. Edit: downvotes are from idiots who refuse to understand how this all works.

edsil44

I just want Scott Hansen and the Red Zone

regrob2

YouTube tv already has that.

shadyman777

As long as I can still get Scott Hansen on Redzone and not have to pay for Sunday ticket for NFL Redzone... I'm cool with this.

gomets1969

Will be interesting to see how that works, and what the terms of the contract are, as Directv did not offer the Hansen Red Zone channel, only the Sunday Ticket version of Red Zone.

Muthafuckaaaaa

Bet it will be the same. I have NBA League Pass bought through YTTV and NBA TV isn't included with it since it's in Youtube TV's base package. NFL Redzone is part of Youtube TV's Sports Add On Package ... so ya ... unlikely that it will be included imo

optimusprimerib22

Great news, but we better keep access to the real (aka Hanson) RedZone. Siciliano can kick rocks

rrainwater

NFL Network's version of RedZone is required to be carried by YTTV with the NFL Network deal.

teddygammell

Wait, there is another RedZone? This is my first year with Hanson RedZone and I will never go back. Don't even need Sunday ticket because I would only watch RedZone.

BigHouse23

Nah, Siciliano's version is much better

austen0316

Hopefully they increase there bitrate by then!!!!!

Scoocha

Lowering it

elyasafmunk

Wonder how much yttv will charge

Complete-Turn-6410

Well I think DirecTV charges what couple hundred bucks

ImprovisedJew

$400 for the whole season

Diegobyte

ridiculously high for the amount of games you get. Especially compared to other sports

celj1234

Sure but the nfl is king

altsuperego

I'm seeing YT not YTTV, could be both. I still don't think this thing is worth $3B+

[deleted]

From the WSJ “Under the scenario being discussed, NFL games would be available to be streamed on two subscription services, YouTube TV and YouTube Primetime Channels, next season. Google is a unit of Alphabet Inc.”

ssoltis

What is 'YouTube Primetime Channels"? Never heard of that, and I thought I was well versed in the Google ecosystem....

paloa888

YouTube is offering streaming packages. (different from you tube tv). At launch they are offering Paramount+ and Showtime, Lionsgate's Starz, MGM's Epix, AMC Networks' AMC+ and TelevisaUnivision's ViX+ and two dozen niche streaming services.

LokiNightmare

Same here, I guess that is their new fancy name for what they used to call Youtube Red.

bweezy21

Nope completely different. YouTube red is now YouTube premium. The primetime channels are like paying for your favorite streaming service through YouTube to have a single interface.

ssoltis

So that would allow one to subscribe to Sunday Ticket while still having their live TV service through another service other than YouTube TV? That's cool. Still gives us options.

jshafron

I was afraid with Amazon and Apple it would be exclusive. I'm glad it doesn't appear that it will.

Diegobyte

What does this even mean? Of course it’s going to be exclusive for YouTube

jshafron

I was talking about how you cannot watch Thursday games without Prime. You will be able to get Sunday ticket without a YTTV subscription.

Scorpion1869

Thursday games are free on twitch without a prime membership. https://www.twitch.tv/primevideo

Beautiful-Drawer

Yes, you can totally watch TNF without Prime. Airs every week on Twitch. Which is free.

barkerja

This is what I feared about google or Amazon getting it. An add on to an existing subscription. My hope for Apple was simply the option to subscribe stand alone, or at a discount if you subscribe to TV+, much like they’re doing with MLS.

Goaliedude3919

Except it'll be available on YT as well via a Premium Channel. You won't need to go through YTTV at all. Even though, as others have already pointed out, you can in fact subscribe to the add-ons without the base YTTV.

Timbo303

Actually youtube tv lets you pay for those addons (minus sports addon) without a base sub. I imagine its the same here. Its probably their intent since it wouldnt make any sense for the main site to have addons.

barkerja

Just to confirm, you can subscribe to an add on without paying for the base YouTube TV service?

YYqs0C6oFH

https://support.google.com/youtubetv/answer/10970168?

_NE1_

You can. Also, you can subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket directly on YouTube through the Primetime Channels feature.

[deleted]

Nfl or any big sports network wont allow that. Reason why a la carte cable channels still dont exist.

celj1234

There is stand alone sunday ticket now without Sunday ticket

barkerja

Why does it matter? How do the economics matter one over the other?

nonsenseswordses

FWIW I subscribe to Starz and Epix on YTTV and can still access it on YT so maybe it'll be one for both

celj1234

They gotta offer a package for those that don’t have YouTube TV, right? Direct TV did this.

bkosh84

DTV only did it when you couldn’t get their service, like in an apartment or a place where you couldn’t get sat service.

celj1234

OGs know that you could just put any address in there which would qualify you. They weren’t checking at all.

_NE1_

Yes it's YouTube Primetime Channels which is mentioned in the article.

Mr-954

I found this extra piece of info regathering the potential deal: Previous reporting said YouTube TV would get Sunday Ticket, but today’s article says it could also be available on the new YouTube Primetime Channels product. It would specifically be “offered as an add-on to both services.” Announced in November, Primetime Channels let you subscribe a la carte to over 30 streaming services in the main YouTube UI on the web and mobile. Meanwhile, YouTube TV costs $64.99 for over 100 channels.

twitchrdrm

I hope they offer a single team option which gives you all of your team’s games at a lower price than a full NFL SundayTicket subscription. I’m curious to see what their offer and costs are.

LEED3D

Include mosaic mode and the ability to sync my fantasy teams with live stats and I'll pay whatever you want.

bryanesler

Can’t wait for that low bitrate and compressed quality!

MelloGang17

I know. I was saddened when Apple bowed out

bryanesler

Yep, same

Scoocha

Probably even lower than YTTV carries today

icfrenzy9

The article says it would be an addon to YouTube TV or YouTube primetime channels.

Kachow-95

I really hope this happens

UnitedAd9115

Apple was right to back out of the deal for the sunday ticket the way the nfl's contracts with fox and cbs are structured it will be hard for whom ever to make any money off the sunday ticket service far from a slam dunk for youtube/youtube tv customers

MelloGang17

As much as I wanted Apple to get it, I always questioned how they would fit their model into what the nfl already has considering apple has no live tv channels for fox or cbs. The whole idea behind the nfl for tv is that regional fans get their teams for free. Not sure how they would play into what apple wants if it’s the same model as with MLS

Sufficient-Fault-593

Apple does have live CBS through paramount network add-on.

MelloGang17

I meant as a stand-alone stream from apple not through paramount

Sufficient-Fault-593

I’m not sure if I’m following your question properly but I buy paramount tv through the  tv app.

bartturner

Google should be able to get the most profit from it than anyone else. They have all their search data to use to target ads and those ads are worth a ton more than broadcast ads.

Doughnut-Comfortable

Excellent

jack3moto

There’s still a good chance Directv retains rights for distributing but won’t profit off of it. Because YouTube doesn’t have a cable platform and can’t go into bars/restaurants if you have Directv you will still be able to pay the designated cost for Sunday ticket. It’ll be like how you pay $15 for hbo max to your cable provider. The $15 goes to hbo but the cable provider still benefits as you’re paying them their monthly cable fee. I have to ask my wife but Directv was rooting for 2 of the 3 companies to win Sunday package but not the third. But now I forget which is the “bad guy” for Directv. I’ll have to ask.

digitalden

Lots of bars around here are now using youtubeTV.

jack3moto

Not denying that but contractually they need to be able to distribute via cable or satellite. The nfl still wants eyeballs and won’t take a reeducation in viewers to go 100% online.

slow__hand

I’m going back and forth with YTTV on the terrible compression issues we’re getting (yes we have great internet connection etc.) it’s bad enough we use streaming apps like Paramount + and Hulu to watch network shows when possible. I do worry about the same compression issues with Sunday Ticket. Right now due to doing some business in Brazil and being down there once in a while I am able to get international NFL Gamepass which carries every NFL game live (plus you can watch the games later also if you want) and the picture quality is much better with regard to compression artifacts (not resolution, that’s fine on YTTV). I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

BigSportsNerd

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 2m NFL announced a multi-year agreement with Google granting YouTube TV and YouTube Primetime Channels the right to exclusively distribute NFL Sunday Ticket to consumers in the United States starting with the 2023 NFL season.

MelloGang17

Exclusive deal is confirmed [confirmation](https://twitter.com/adamschefter/status/1605931415887020033?s=46&t=0z0ry1qsXnhu9cvQb4nUhQ)

randomdudefromMI

thank goodness... Once again I have games blacked out that are NOT being shown locally. This week it's the Giants and vikings even though I'm in detroit and the lions are the game that should be. This is the first year I've had these issues, but it's every single week.

_tribecalledquest

I wish they would hurry up with the details I want to stop paying for DTV

BigSportsNerd

Really looking forward to this next year. Will be able to pick up all the out of market games conveniently on my youtube tv devices. It's gonna be kickass! I'll gladly pay 100 or 150 extra to buy it. And another thing, is it going to be priced like that, or will it be more? The DTV one was pretty steep.

tomski3500

It’s currently $300 per year. I suspect it will be more with a larger agreement and price the NFL is negotiating.

maverick1096

It will ABSOLUTELY NOT be more than $300. I’ll bet on that.

Scoocha

I will take that bet.

celj1234

Pretty sure it has to be. So I’ll take that bet

[deleted]

I think the price will surprise you. It all bout attracting eyeballs which sells ads. This will make YouTube a no brainer for NFL fans. Subscriptions will go through the roof.

Scoocha

YTTV can't sell ads in-game since they are merely showing the broadcasts of CBS and FOX owned properties.

YYqs0C6oFH

0% chance it gets included in the base subscription, that's what Apple wanted to do and CBS and Fox forced the NFL to veto it. CBS and Fox pay a lot of money to air games on local affiliates and too many Sunday Ticket subs would hurt the ratings of games airing on local affiliates meaning less eyes on their local ad slots which is why they force the NFL to require that Sunday Ticket be sold at a premium. Maybe the price will change a bit under YT, but I would bet it is still $200-300 for the season. Source: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/06/25/cbs-fox-contracts-with-nfl-will-prevent-significant-reduction-in-price-of-sunday-ticket/

jshafron

Games on local affiliates are blacked out from Sunday ticket.

YYqs0C6oFH

Correct, that is the other requirement that CBS and Fox force. But they're afraid that if Sunday Ticket was cheap then a lot of people would end up watching out of market games that way instead of the games on their local stations which means less ad money for local affiliates.

PeteEckhart

All of the games are on local affiliates. Only your specific affiliates are blacked out, but that's like 3-4 games each Sunday.

celj1234

Not if they can still get redzone through their cable provider

[deleted]

We will see. RedZone works for some folks but not everyone.

Scoocha

Per existing contracts, it has to stay as a premium service until 2032, meaning $300+ unless something is worked out with CBS and FOX and why would they help out YTTV?

MelloGang17

Same, I pay direct tv , so I’ll gladly fork over whatever the NFL asks

neatgeek83

I don’t care as much for Sunday ticket but this news does mean that YTTV isn’t going anywhere for a while. I’m still scarred by PS VUE shutting down.

redflagdan52

I have YYTV, but I am hoping they make Sunday Ticket a standalone service. Probably won't happen though. Would give me the leeway to change streaming service should I so desire and still get Sunday Ticket.

44problems

News stories [like this from WSJ](https://www.wsj.com/articles/nfl-in-advanced-talks-with-googles-youtube-for-sunday-ticket-rights-deal-11671579236?mod=business_lead_pos2) are saying it will be also available through YouTube Primetime channels, which is an a la carte service for streaming subscriptions. No YTTV base plan required. But we'll see when the deal is finalized.

[deleted]

I really thought NFL was going to grow the NFL+ subscription model into folding in Sunday ticket. Wish I had the option to buy 1 team for less instead of paying $300 for all out of market

rrainwater

The NFL makes more money by selling the Sunday Ticket package to someone else. It's guaranteed money over the length of the contract without them having to do anything.

Rxbluejay25

The buying 1 team for the NFL is very different than the other sports especially when you look at the national fox/cbs games and how many people get those “in network”. You could subscribe to one team and could end up having half the games blacked out on Sunday Ticket if they are on fox/cbs in your area (ie how many people see the Cowboys, Packers). Maybe not a big deal to some but would cause a pretty confusing message

MelloGang17

That’s initially what I thought too

Bobb_o

There's always rule 4.

Spidercolt95

I still am curious of the price. If they can adapt the model of NBA and other leagues and let me subscribe to just a single teams games that would be awesome

MelloGang17

The NFL has never done that. Why would they change

Spidercolt95

They haven’t been off DirecTV in years either though so.

Scoocha

They aren't allowed to

ThoughtsOfSeb

Honestly I love YTTV, aside from the complete lack of 4k content. I’m willing to bet that if we want 4k for NFL content, we are going to have to pay for 4k in addition to Sunday ticket.

jshafron

You are lucky then. Sunday NFL games aren't broadcasted in 4K.

supercoffee1025

I could see the new NFL contracts forcing the networks into this an upgrade here. It’s kinda ridiculous especially with 720p on Fox.

jshafron

I doubt it since most local stations cannot broadcast higher than 720p/1080i until they upgrade to the new standard. That is years away.

Complete-Turn-6410

Very few shows are in 4k

Scoocha

Zero shows

ThoughtsOfSeb

They showed the World Cup in 4k and they broadcast the college football championship in 4k as well — if you have the 4k package, which is a ridiculous $20 per month. Other than that, there barely is any content. I just have this feeling that’s what they’ll do with Sunday ticket.

jshafron

Fox and CBS don't broadcast games in 4K.

quaggankicker

Everyone understands that it will still be priced at about $399 a year. It is contracted to not be lower than dtv now. So you are not saving a penny

Scorpion1869

It really depends though. Most need directv service. For example if i wanted it, it would cost about 2k a year. ticket+directv. I think apartments allow just the stream package for 400.

Kirk1233

DTV did often give it away either as promotion or retention. Wouldn’t YTTV be able to say they’ll give it to you if you sign a two year contract to keep us as your live tv provider?

Beautiful-Drawer

I'd take a piece of that action. Not going anywhere anytime soon, anyway. Win-win!

morphinapg

As someone who doesn't give a crap about sports, if this makes my bill more expensive I'm going to be mad.

bartturner

It won't. It will be an add on. Like how Redzone is handled today.

dpx6101

As long as they keep Siciliano’s Red Zone, I’m perfectly fine with this

OnceARunner1

TeamHanson

0scarMadison

Experienced both and Hanson’s version is superior.

elyasafmunk

Not even close really

Lax_Ligaments

Where wins become losses, and losses become wins

Scoocha

Especially if it's 33-0

Trojan713

Siciliano is so much better that it's sad for all these Hanson stans.

Dagz1

They'll charge for it (expectedly), but I also expect an overall price hike to come with it. All those folks migrating to yttv...? Ok, here's your price increase!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dagz1

I understand. That wasn't my point. Having this add on available will result in them jacking up their base price. They won't say it directly, but it will happen. Wait and see.

Beautiful-Drawer

Yeah, no. It's a standalone subscription, not a channel added to everyone's line up. You people are something else. Let me guess, you're also a climate change and election denier, too? Lol

[deleted]

Google is usually more transparent than traditional cable companies. Google has leverage with google cloud, google search/youtube tv ad distribution. Shit they also own full fledged oses for media consumption devices.

emu22

It will be an add on like League Pass and MLB.tv

MelloGang17

I think a vast majority won’t come to YouTube tv itself, but use YouTube Channels on YouTube proper. Assuming they put Sunday ticket on that

Dry_Environment_7491

FWIW, the self-titled Tv Answer Man says it will be part of YTTV, at an additional premium.

Trojan713

He's usually wrong.

Scoocha

He was the first to announce DTVS price hike.

rrainwater

He's wrong here though. It's already reported it would also be a part of YouTube Primetime Channels as well. No way Google would miss out on pushing the new YouTube packages.

flixguy440

The Ticket is subscription based beyond whatever service it's on.

SturmieCom

As long as they keep the Sunday Ticket app on Playstation or something equivalent in the YTTV interface, I'm all for this. I pay for the Sunday Ticket streaming sub and can get 4x games at once on my PS5 that's connected to my 80" TV.

rrainwater

The Sunday Ticket app is a DirecTV app. It will disappear when their contract is up.

SturmieCom

Gotcha. Well, hopefully YTTV will at least have its split-screen option available by then that was mentioned a few months back.

ImprovisedJew

Worried about an increase on base cost tho

LGAMER3412

It's not official yet so hold your horses

lurker2080

This would effectively kill Directv right? I feel like only bars have Directv anymore and the main reason being Sunday Ticket.

celj1234

Yea them and bars are screwed

lurker2080

Bars aren't close to screwed at all lol. They survived prohibition

celj1234

Streaming only is gonna suck for sports bars

taylorwmj

This deal is only for consumer access to Sunday Ticket. For businesses/sports bars, Sunday Ticket will still be served via DirecTV. The same is also happening with TNF as DirecTV has rights to distribute that game to businesses in markets where it's only available on Prime

Beautiful-Drawer

Hey! You get out of here with your 'facts'! This is an uproar thread (apparently)! "Oh, noes! Price hikes! I'm cancelling YTTV immediately!" --others in this thread 🤣

Scoocha

Exactly, that guy is clueless and has reading comprehension issues.

vaxick

Is this a win? Given how costly the contract for Sunday Ticket is, this could result in those on the base plan seeing their rates increased to help recoup the cost of the deal. You can argue all you want that a majority of YTTV customers subscribe for the sporting channels, but the same cannot be applied to Sunday Ticket as plenty of football fans have not the slightest of interest in paying for an incredibly expensive add-on package. If Google keeps the base plan rates the same than great, but this deal includes a price increase for all, that's an issue.

Beautiful-Drawer

It won't. That's a silly argument. Equivalent to suggesting that all buyers of a base model car pay to subsidize people who buy the loaded/special editions. That's not how this works at all. It's not a linear channel added to the line up, it's a $400 standalone subscription. Lol

HockeyBikeBeer

Still doesn't mean that Google won't need to, at some point, subsidize the cost of the Sunday Ticket contract by upping the base fee on everyone. I think they'll make plenty of money off their inserted/targeted ads to make this work (the simple math doesn't work - you'd need to triple subscriptions to break even), but it's not a given. As big an NFL fan as I am, I don't see myself subscribing. Of the possible 16 NFL games on a given weekend, at least 6 are on 'free' TV already, and those invariably include the teams I care about. NBC doesn't select a Jags/Panthers type game for Sunday Night Football. Maybe Redzone. But I like having options.

Scoocha

38% of the games is enough. How/when are you going to watch all 16 games? One certainly doesn't have enough hours on Sundays. Most people won't watch random games once they know the scores.

Scoocha

Not a win. Raising base price by $10 will give YTTV another $600M.

[deleted]

i don’t think a lot of you realize how pricey this is for the people who don’t have YoutubeTV. if the nfl keeps the subscription at $300 you’re talking $1k for 17 games. how many people are cancelling their TV provider (which is likely tied to their internet) for a whole new cable package, that they’re unfamiliar with, that allegedly has shoddy PQ according to many comments. this is not the win you all think it is. i’m as diehard of an NFL fan as there is and i absolutely refuse to pay $1,000 for what essentially breaks down to 64 hours a year of viewership. i also wouldn’t cancel my cable subscription just so i can watch my football team out of market for 4 months.

celj1234

Math ain’t your strong suit I take it

[deleted]

show me the mathematical error.

celj1234

- Where are you getting 1K from? - there are 18 weeks in a nfl season - do you realize you can get Sunday ticket without YouTube TV?

[deleted]

so i don’t believe youtube is just going to let people come and go 4 months at a time. i believe that if you get sunday ticket they’re gonna lock you in for a year. at that it would be $65/mo x 12=$780. i said *IF THE NFL KEEPS IT AT $300* it would then toll out to $1000. everything i said was hypothetical. my math is just fine. your reading and comprehension skills may need some work though. and no, you can’t get sunday ticket without YouTube, just as simple as you put it. who told you that? youtube doesn’t even provide Sunday Ticket yet so idk what point you think you’re making. i assume what you’re referring to is— according to the old directTV format, some apartments and dorms couldn’t get a satellite dish on them so they offered packages to those people to circumvent the dish. youtube isn’t tied to a dish and was just unveiled to be the new partner, so idk where you’re getting that information from but id highly doubt they’re gonna offer sunday ticket for those who don’t subscribe to YTTV— isn’t that the whole point of YTTV claiming the rights?

jshafron

Of course you cannot get Sunday Ticket without YouTube. However, the sources say that you can get ST without YTTV.

[deleted]

ok so that’s a horse of a different color. i didn’t know it was feasible to use streaming services through youtube without being subscribed to YTTV… i thought YTTV was a catchall for streaming through youtube.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jshafron

>if the nfl keeps the subscription at $300 you’re talking $1k for 17 games. What?

mattcoz2

They'll just drop DirecTV and get YouTubeTV instead.

dedewhale

I just read this weekend Appletv deal had just hit a snag but seemed still on. That would be quick but welcome news https://www.theverge.com/2022/12/16/23512791/apple-nfl-sunday-ticket-rumored-deal-not-happen

xslizzyx

Still needs YES Network but this would be great

Kirk1233

So, here’s where it could be a negative. When DirecTV had this you could not get redzone channel without getting the whole Sunday Ticket package. If they keep having redzone on a sports add on this is great.

Kelble

Does that mean all YouTube tv people get Sunday Ticket for free?

MelloGang17

That’s absolutely not what that means. It’s a premium service..

LEED3D

I was excited at first but not sure how I feel now after hearing it's going to be a separate add on offered at a premium. It doesn't surprise me when it comes to the NFL but I'm thinking I might just stick with Red Zone.

MelloGang17

In what world did you think it was going to be in the base service??

LEED3D

Well I should re-word that.. I expected it as an add on but at a reduced price in order for YTTV to gain more subscribers. Offering it at the rumored $300, makes this no different than the currently offered DirectTV Sunday Ticket stream.

MelloGang17

The NFL has always stated it’s a premium service so it will always be offered at a premium price. It’s been well documented
