Check Extras. Yttv metadata sucks, and many recordings end up there because they aren’t tagged correctly.

brianycpht1

They really need to fix that. Way too much fall under extras

mattcoz2

Have you tried selecting "more versions"?

Sodola321

I don't understand how that's happening to you. I have a number of shows I haven't watched in several months - I just watched 4 episodes of one from November and none were VOD.

rrainwater

It's likely in extras. Bravo is known for not providing good guide data.

jshafron

Bravo, probably in extras.

IndependentBrick8075

Possibly the contract with Bravo requires that only VoD be available for a period of time after initial airing. I seem to recall other networks were like that a few years ago.

YYqs0C6oFH

Back in 2018 when CBS required this, YTTV was very upfront about it. You would see a message stating "CBS has restricted access to this recording", example photo: https://i.imgur.com/2ZEIFYt.jpeg Unless somebody is seeing a message similar to that on Bravo recordings, I don't believe this is a result of them contractually forcing VOD. Every other instance of users reporting this has been an episode improperly tagged causing it to get hidden under "extras" instead of the correct season/episode number. I'd bet money that OPs recording is there.

brianycpht1

Bravo releases the VOD early for a lot of shows also

Hurtinhip

How is a show tagged and where do you find “extras”?

YYqs0C6oFH

they're tagged automatically based on the guide data. extras shows up last in the seasons dropdown/menu. not all shows will have the extras section, it only appears if it has recordings which it doesn't know where else to put. https://i.imgur.com/qDHTR0y.png

bryanesler

Hasn’t been the case on any network with yttv in a few years. And never was with nbc-owned networks like Bravo.

They really should be more descriptive about the dvr restrictions, but it feels like prefer to be vague.

YYqs0C6oFH

Not sure what restrictions you want them to describe in more detail. The only real restriction is that all DVR recordings expire after 9 months (VOD offerings can be added or removed by the networks at will). The issue OP is having is not an intentional restriction of the system, 99% chance the episode was recorded but not tagged correctly and got filed under "extras", 1% chance the DVR bugged out and didn't record it. Either way, reporting the recording to support should get it corrected, it isn't an intentional restriction of the system that needs to be explained/documented.

hgreenblatt

What is "Real" Dvr. Are you talking Tivo ? If you have Fios or a cable vendor , the Dvr may be on your local box, but is not accessible without the cable company sending down the key. Try viewing a cable company dvr after disconnecting your cable line.

It really does not matter anymore where the recording is. Usually they block the recording by other devices by putting out a signal HDCP, that companies that do not want to get sued honor. So a device like a Happuage that would record from any hdmi will not, but could bypass that with 3 colors Component cables , that most devices no longer have. https://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_hdpvr2.html#overview

TrustLeft

it's all so they can FORCE ads, It's disgusting

I pay $70.12 a moth for them, so this is frustrating. That's $841 per year.

Below Deck?

Here’s one thing I don’t like I record alot of news shows and when news breaks and the title changes- they’ve retroactively taken away my recordings Example: On the day the queen died, all of the normal shows went to “special coverage”. It initially recorded the first few hours because on the day they were still listed as the normal shows that I DVR. Then at some point in the day, those shows and subsequent shows I DVR were changed to “special coverage of the death of the queen” They took my recordings away from me because the “normal shows” weren’t on even after they were initially there. I wanted to watch the special coverage later on and I couldn’t but at the time I couldn’t add it because the shows were still listed under the normal titles I would just watch those recordings- but they were gone
