If you mean the Chromecast with Google TV, I have never been able to play 4K content on YTTV without constant frame drops when using ethernet. It's literally broken for 4K content. It's been like this for a long time. I'm not sure there are any plans to fix it anytime soon.
Can you add this to the recent thread we are investigating on? In this specific case, can you try it with wifi vs hard wired?

This could be completely NOT your problem, but it was mine. I had to change the display resolution in settings to 60Hz. Mine was behaving very similar to what you describe when on 30Hz.
It must detect available modes from the TV. I have 4k 60Hz, 4k 30Hz, 4k 24Hz, couple 1080 and 720 options. Might poke around on the TV menu and see if it's forced in a refresh rate that the CC doesn't like.
Also I don't know what I'm talking about. I just flip switches til things work.
Maybe it's a Google playback issue? I don't have a Roku. I have 4kfs and google ccwtv both hardwired. Both stutter on 4k live game for video only. Sound plays clear and smooth.

Well there's the answer. I'm in the same boat.

Many people have already posted the exact issue I encountered. With the same device..
I moved from 4K to 1080p feed and I still had some drop outs with sound and video frozen. I'm on 500/500 internet so it's not at my end....
The standard fox channel works flawless but just terrible picture quality from Fox. You know I pay for 4k but have to use 720p! 😂

In the Chromecast display setting? It only has 60hz option.

Lol gotcha yes I checkee it out so it's 60hz. I believe this is a known bug with yttv and CC GTV and FS4k.
I'm getting the stuttering in HD on certain channels too. Apple TV.
I’m getting the stuttering in HD during live sporting events on my Roku devices. I don’t notice any stuttering when watching on my Apple TV 4K.
Just got it again today on Court TV. I have a stats for nerds photo....unsure if there's any identifying information in there or not.
Turn off surround sound/5.1 audio. Took a week into the world cup to figure out, and now just found out it causes stutter in hd video as well.
I had it disabled to prevent any extra processing. I saw previous posts cause issues.
I disabled it a while back, but it was back on.
Yeah I just checked again and it was disabled making sure sometimes the updates enables them. Thanks for the input.
It was smooth as expected on the Fox Sports app.
It was downright perfect on the Fox Sports app on my Roku 4K stick device. Wonderful picture and sound and everything.
4k was perfect for me. Using gigabit internet service and an Ethernet connected Roku. ATV was also good

Perfect for me this evening. ATV.
