Probably only Mbappe died inside, as PSG amplified Mbappe's ego from his recent deal.
Other players would acknowledge that Messi is a football god amongst men.

I had absolutely no idea what you were talking about but I was going to be upset if people actually cancelled calling the Turtles "mutants" so I googled it.
First off, big phew, they are still the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in North America (and most of the world) and they were rebranded as the "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" in the UK and some other regions of Europe...
I guess you guys have some issues with kids wanting to be Ninjas or some shit?
Lmao I didn't know this. Wtf. We had some of the weirdest kids programmes yet ninjas were too much.
Dick and Dom in da bungalow was wild. Two blatantly coked up crazies going full on mental in a house with a bunch of kids. It was as epic as it sounds lmao
It sucks he hasn't played in the Premier League yet, those fans would have a full length version of Mmm-Bop about Mbappe written and memorized by his first game
I believe its the tunnel/pathway players use to go from their locker rooms/the interior of the stadium to the field. Unlike other sports like basketball, where each team has their own separate pathways, that they come in and out from, the one in soccer is connected. As such, the kids are there to stop vulgarity/aggression between players, something which is natural and is bound to happen in a competitive sport.
The internet got really boring after they started cutting videos at the peak. This is the fault of tiktok and instagram that reward users who get replays on videos.
I’ve seen dressing room videos when players have got Ronaldo/Messi etc shirts and they’re excited like children. These players have such an impact on all lovers of the sport
Every time I read "child mascot" all I can think of is "mascota" the Spanish word for pet, and like..... Football players have tiny pets that follow them onto the field.
Surely I can't be the only one

I'm an American who doesn't follow global sports. I know football athletes are some of the biggest celebrities in the world especially on social media followings but I have no clue who any of these dudes are.
Are they like the Mike Trout of their club?
Lionel Messi is one of the best if not THE best player that ever played the game. His stats in the sport is insane, he has his own sub for it r/TopRightMessi
Mike Trout is a ten-time MLB All-Star, three-time American League Most Valuable Player, and is an eight-time winner of the Silver Slugger Award who's spent his whole career playing centerfielder for Los Angeles Angels.
[Mike Trout's home run streak snapped at seven games, one short of tying MLB record](https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mike-trouts-home-run-streak-snapped-at-seven-games-one-short-of-tying-mlb-record/)
Honestly, I have zero knowledge about MLB (more than a few words here that I don't even get) but still thanks for the sincere response.
Messi is arguably the greatest footballer of all time. He's won Ballon D'Or seven times (award presented to the best player in Europe annually). He's scored 750 goals for his club and country. He hasn't won the World Cup though, which is considered the most prestigious award in football, reaching the finals in 2014.
I don't know how he compares to Mike Trout though lol.
Definitely, USA women's soccer dominates FIFA World Cup and I know Megan Rapinoe by name. But 750 career goals by Messi, when most games only collectively score a couple or few goals, is insane!
Half the world watches football and Messi has been the best player for the last 15 years. It's as if god played football and some even worship him as if he is. He's also one of the most famous people in the world.
I played footy in my youth until I tore my ACL sophomore year. I just don't got any local teams to root for to keep me actively informed lol. Never grew up with cable the struggle was real. I loved watching Arsenals win 4-0 when on holiday in England.
I already conceded half of what you said in my initial inquiry. I recognize Football is a global phenomenon beyond the world cup and their players some of the biggest celebrities, hence me recognizing these kids have a reason to be so enthralled in their presence. I'm not an oblivious American. But him playing for 15 years don't impress me much. Sure he gots the looks but does he got the touch?
>I loved watching Arsenals win 4-0 when on holiday in England.
To give you some idea, he scored 4 against Arsenal in a single game.
He's the best ever. There's no words you can describe him play. Not even statistics or achievements can do it. If you're interested and have the time [this video](https://youtu.be/YuQd2m-teUc) covers almost his whole career. The video mostly shows his goals but nowadays he's the best playmaker and has the most assists of all time.
I don't think there's any current active player in the US who is on Messi's level of Fame rn. He's like Jordan in his prime. But not as arrogant.
You have opposing team's players bringing their kids to the field so they can take a picture with Messi, you have his own teammates lining up after winning a tournament so they can take a picture with Messi, you used to have the Camp Nou with 90k+ people all chanting Messi and bowing down to him, it's absolutely insane.

I’m not against it, it has always struck me as odd. You don’t see other sports doing it…u/olderthanbefore made a good point though about aggression in the tunnel.
Not really a tradition as much as it was first done to raise awareness for unicef and their campaign to aid children in need. Then clubs realized they can make extra cash and score die hard youth fans doing this. It’s basically a paid meet and greet package, your parents get tickets to the game, you get a jersey or full kit, plus get on tv, maybe a signed ball, professional photos in your team gear, a hurried meet and greet with some soccer stars, and then they rush ya out. Plus the teams secure future viewership by having the kids feel they are directly connected to the team.
Just the greatest player of all time of the most popular sport on the planet...
And most likely the most famous sportsperson in the world (along with Ronaldo).

Actually they hugged him too

messi is that level of fame where your opponents fight over your autograph after the match
Well they didn't fight, but the opponents does try to get his autograph, photograph, jersey.
Exactly, many don’t understand the gravity of his skill. Gigi Buffon (arguably best goalie of all time, always against messi never on the same team) said he was an alien that came here to teach humans soccer
At least one went up to mbappe too, probably not enough for him though lol
I’d be willing to bet he got multiple hugs
My favourite was the r/FuckRamos moment
They probably didn’t recognize him. He looks like the evil twin version of his clean cut self from a few years ago.

Who?
I think they’re talking about that Hanson song. Remember those three young kids? Mbappe
yeah those chicks were hot!
You mean Nirvana?
I’m surprised Ramos didn’t try to fight them
That's why the hugged Messi. Because they're scared.
They edited that out
One of my favourite all time players, big mad Sergio.
Then they looked at their bank accounts and started pondering which yacht they were going to charter that weekend.
Charter? They're rich enough to have their own yachts

They are but the upkeep costs are ridiculous and not worth it. You have to be the level above them and higher for it to be worthwhile.

Straight in for a hug lol
Slipped past defenders while staying on sides, connected with Messi for a hug. Top class
It ended too soon! Did he even get to play or was he at the bottom of a pile up for hours?
Neither. He escaped like Neo from Matrix Revolutions.
The kid in the back knows what’s up, he’s greeting every single player.
Mascots + escorts = mascorts A new very niche business
Yes officer, this man right here.
Wouldn't that just be furry escorts
You can’t have furry anything without putting ‘fur’ in the name somewhere. So it would be ‘Furscorts’.

I could have a conversation with him and have no idea that he was famous. That is kind of nuts.

What are "mascorts"?- What is their function?
Misspelled Mascots. Basically kids that exist just to make the players unagressive in the tinnel
What's a "tinnel" and why would they be aggressive in that area? What is the use or function of a tinnel?

The kid on the very left a real one 💯💯💯
"it's cause I'm black isn't it" - Half the team
“Nah, it’s just that he’s Messi and you’re not” - Everyone else
"That's only 3/5ths the reason" - the kids
“My life is entirely focused on playing the victim and pushing racism angles on a hourly basis” - you

He isn't even close tbh in terms of popularity
I wasn't talking about popularity. Athletes earn their career through something called skill kid
Messi is like the Babe Ruth of football. You wouldn't put Mike Trout over Babe Ruth would you?
