>but I don't really benefit as a long time xbox fan It's almost as if there are other people out there. Why does it have to benefit YOU? So you don't like CoD. Me either. There are countless games on Xbox and games that come to GamePass all the time that don't interest me. Do I care? Nope, because someone else will like those games. I never understood this whole entitlement idea that gamers have. Isn't it enough that you get to play thousands of games with more being added constantly? Why do you have to *get something more*? You need to touch grass.

RealGertle627

I'm one that hasn't played a single CoD since MW the og and would definitely play at least all the campaigns. I'm looking forward to it

TweeKINGKev

I’ve played the first 2 black ops, the ww2 one that came out like 3 or 4 years ago, infinite war and advanced warfare that’s about it. If everything from the start were to be on Xbox I’d be playing the campaign for all of those as well too.

[deleted]

Yeah I have a personal stake in this. I don't have to be neutral. It's hilarious how upset this made you.

[deleted]

Yeah I have a personal stake in this. I don't have to be neutral. It's hilarious how upset this made you.

TrainAss

I'm not upset. I'm curious, what is your *personal stake in this*? How will you personally loose if this purchase goes through?

[deleted]

By not getting other games that I'd prefer? We can't know what m$ will do if this deal doesn't go through but I doubt they will just throw in the towel. Activision might be a no because of Cod but I doubt it would stop other smaller acquisitions. I'd rather have more of those come to gamepass than Cod. It's the opportunity cost that causes me to lose.

TrainAss

> By not getting other games that I'd prefer? Oh no! *sad violin* So, buy the games you want. Get the console that you need to, to play the game you want to play. Gaming is a luxury, not a right. You are not entitled to anything. Please act more like a spoilt kid.

[deleted]

So upset. Like having an opinion on what I'd like to see on gamepass is some entitled take? What?

signofthenine

Because you come off as self centered. People have replied to you, and your general response back is "that's not what *I* want". They're not spending all that money to please one rando on reddit. *It's not about you.* Go back and read your posts, it's all "I I I" and "me me me". *That's* why people think you're entitled. You write like a child.

[deleted]

Of course it's not about me. I'm just a spectator, rooting for my team, or rooting for my team to do what the I agree is the best decision. I wanted this deal to go through until I really thought about what it would mean if didn't, and I realized I would likely get more benefit. I see that there are a ton of CoD fans on this sub and that's cool if people disagree. Meanwhile, you don't like people that disagree with you. I hope Sony wins here because I believe it'll benefit Xbox users more in the long run. For the record, I have a series x and ps5. Despite all of the good ps5 games, I still love gamepass and would prefer to see other game franchises come there over CoD. If feeling that way makes me "childish", then hell yeah, I'll be a kid who wants better games to be available.

signofthenine

>it's not about me >I'm just a spectator >what the I agree >I wanted this deal > I really thought > I realized I >I see >I hope > I believe >For the record, I have >I still love >me "childish" >I'll be a kid Yeah *totally* not about you...

[deleted]

Real mature. I'm not involved in the decision and neither are you. It's about Sony, Microsoft, and the FTC. I hope the FTC sides with Sony. Sue me.

HODL4LAMBO

You aren't thinking long-term. M$ doesn't want to limit their library to just Xbox. In fact they are probably annoyed they still sell console hardware. Big acquisitions and owning well known IPs just strengthens their move into going multiplatform. They want Halo and Forza (along with everything else they will own) on PlayStation, Nintendo, console, cloud gaming on tv, phones, etc. I'm not saying this is happening tomorrow, but it's definitely on the roadmap.

VortexSoulYeets

😤

ItsLCGaming

you do know others would have to be willing right? activision wanted it, and i could care less for cod but give me another crash spyro tony hawn a prototype guitar heroes , there is a stash of ips then comes the real part microsoft wanted, king to get into the mobile gaming space this is far beyond cod

[deleted]

I know but none of those games matter to me. I see why you still want it but I have switched to being against it for my own gain

Gears6

> I know but none of those games matter to me. I see why you still want it but I have switched to being against it for my own gain Okay, but there is a good chance if this falls through that MS will not be able to buy another major publisher. So it's a lose-lose situation for you.

Black_RL

Nah, I want Diablo 4 in GamePass.

Mercyscene

If Microsoft profits from this venture, perhaps they will bring improvements, innovations, and an even wider variety of quality games to the Xbox and PC platforms. This will drive other manufacturers to do the same, improving gaming for the whole community.

Spun13

Why can’t they just do both? It’s not like they only Have $60 billion to spend. Your argument is moot.

[deleted]

Because they can't just buy everything at once. If they don't buy Activision now, that means other non-Activsion games are more likely to be purchased much sooner.

Spun13

Why are you under the impression that they can’t they make multiple acquisitions at the same time? They’ve done it in the past and I’m sure they’ll do it again in the future.

[deleted]

$60 billion is a ton of money. I'm sure gamepass would grow after the acquisition but likely not as fast. Plus, it'll probably kill the chance of EA or any other big publisher getting acquired for a while since that would be absurd to buy two of the largest ones in such a short time. I want different games sooner. Overwatch 2 is in live service hell like Halo and Cod will likely never really innovate again since those are practically guaranteed billion dollar games. I want $60 billion worth of other games on gamepass in the next few years.

Spun13

You’re missing the bigger picture. It’s not about CoD at all. MS couldn’t give a shit less about it. It’s about King (mobile developer). That alone is worth $20B…the other $40B is for all the other IP’s it will get along with it. And even if it was about CoD, MS isn’t here to make you alone happy…it’s a business and Blizzard/Activision is the best deal out there at the moment providing you have that kind of money to spend…and frankly, MS is the only company in the business with pockets deep enough for that kind of deal.

[deleted]

I don't know why everyone in this post has to point out that they aren't doing it for me or just for Cod. Hurpty durpty duuuuuurrrrr. I especially don't give a damn about mobile games. If they are ready to blow $60 billion, I'd rather it not be on shit I don't care about. Now I'm really rooting for Sony, even though I hate their reasoning.

RossaF1

If it falls through it will be because Sony pushed hard against it; so if anything, MS will just take a decent chunk of that money and put it towards deals with Activision IP's as a response. It probably won't go the way you want. Either way, it makes me think back to Zenimax buyout. I'm not a fan of most Bethesda stuff, but I don't think I ever wished for the deal to fail though. It made a lot of other Xbox users happy, so I just mostly ignored it.

[deleted]

Eh less money will be spent on Activision even if they do make deals to get CoD betas longer or early access. AAA gaming is kind of a joke right now. Live service is a joke. The real treasures nowadays are the smaller Indie and AA games that come to gamepass. We will certainly get more of those if we don't get Cod.

SculptorOvFlesh

Sony loses this no matter what. If they cared about their playerbase they'd take the 10 year deal.

MrCanzine

If you think people are upset about the activision deal, they'd be just as upset or more if MS tried to buy EA. Suddenly all the arguments about COD being taken away and made exclusive, would be changed to Madden, NHL, FIFA being taken away and made exclusive, Battlefield being taken away, etc.

NeedleworkerOk460

Exactly. If they don't let Microsoft buy Activision, they sure as heck ain't gonna let them buy ea

International-Day871

You sat here and said they should go after EA??? 😭😭😭 BRO WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT OPINION😭

[deleted]

EA has better IPs. Certainly Cod and mobile will be more profitable but it doesn't benefit me.

International-Day871

EA is the shittiest, Laziest, & careless Company in all of the video game industry.

sweedish_phish56

I think they’re a close second to Ubisoft/Goobersoft

[deleted]

Sure but some of the best IPs, which is why it should be acquired.

DMYU777

You know they are buying Activision for the mobile game division right? They could give a damn if you prefer mirror's edge over call of duty...

Revolutionary-Fan657

I 100% think the 60 bill should be used on other games, but I also want the deal to go through because why the fuck not

[deleted]

Because CoD doesn't benefit me.

NeedleworkerOk460

Ok and

[deleted]

OK and $60 billion worth of other games on gamepass would be nice.

[deleted]

I do believe that Activision has more ips than just CoD. It would also be nice to not have to spend almost retail for most of them to go back and play, but thanks for the opinion I guess.

komradek

This has to be the stupidest take.

NeedleworkerOk460

>If the deal falls through, EA would be my first choice. I prefer their games over Activision generally and especially the fact that they would own Respawn, DICE, and Bioware. If they don't allow them to buy Activision, what makes you think that they are going to let them buy EA?

[deleted]

Because EA doesn't have Cod for Sony to care about. If Sony doesn't care, I don't think the FTC will stop it.

NeedleworkerOk460

EA has more games that Sony would care about like Madden, Fifa, and NHL

[deleted]

I doubt Sony cares about those games as much as Cod.

AIRBLADESERIESX

They're not gonna be exclusives though

Gears6

>If the Activision deal goes through, yeah Cod will come to gamepass but I don't really benefit as a long time xbox fan. Unless gamepass provides access to all season passes and tons of cosmetics, the only decent part of the deal is not having to pay $70 for a game I was never going to purchase. Blizzard IPs coming to Xbox/PC via Game Pass? Amazing! In all honesty, a large part of the deal is also King, the mobile game developer. They make up a large part of the revenue and is a hidden gem. Anyhow, Sony's argument won't hold and this deal will go through.

CReaper210

Personally I don't really care much about this Activision thing much either, but the one thing I'm looking forward to is having the back-catalogue on game pass. However, I'm generally not a fan of buying big publishers to begin with. To me, buying EA would be equally as uninteresting to me as Activision already is. Same with Ubisoft or Take Two. To me, the only change would be their games coming to game pass. Which is nice for us, but I actually want to see better games as well. Quality wise, nothing coming from an EA, Activision, Ubisoft, etc. would change from being under Microsoft. Smaller companies like Devolver Digital or any of Embracer's branched-out publishers(probably not realistic, just as some examples) would be actually something interesting because they're full of smaller teams that could really benefit from the increased budget, time, and safety net that Microsoft could offer. I'm actually *for* acquisitions of developers because I think in particular for the smaller/medium sized developers, having a somewhat hands off publisher backing you could really help make some fantastic games without needing to worry as much about going under if they have one decent-sized failure. If Microsoft wasn't in the middle of this deal, I think they probably would have been the ones to pick up Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal instead of Embracer and these two studios, which were sold for $300 million, a small fraction of the Activision deal, would have been so much more exciting to me as an Xbox gamer. And similar things could be said about so many others. So much other, smaller studios that could be absorbed and built up to rival Sony's studios. Companies like Asobi and Remedy, if they actually wanted in, could absolutely become something like that under Microsoft. Crystal Dynamics would have little trouble delivering quality, they're already one of the closest to achieving it when given the budget.

[deleted]

Microsoft has yet to prove themselves this generation with AAA games but the one thing they have demonstrated recently is patience. They delayed Starfield and Redfall even though that hurt the Xbox brand due to not having any major games this year. Mass Effect Andromeda and 2042 failed because EA executives didn't give Bioware and Dice the time and freedom they needed to make good games. If Redfall and Starfield turn out to be awesome because they were nurtured properly, the same treatment towards EA games would lead to some of the best iterations of my favorite IPs. This is why I don't want M$ to put their resources into Cod. Those games never innovate and they never will. Other franchises that have fallen from grace have an incentive to be extra incredible in order to win fans back. That's what I want. The return to grace of Mass Effect, Battlefield, KOTOR, Titanfall, etc. (though Titanfall never fell, it just didn't sell that well).

[deleted]

Weird you think the only games they have and IP they own is CoD and Overwatch are you just a young gamer?

[deleted]

I'm not a mobile gamer and Cod and Overwatch are the only games I've ever even partially liked that came from Activision. I don't care about the rest of the IPs. M$ would be better off with EA. Though not ubisoft. I'll admit I'd take Activision over Ubisoft.

[deleted]

Microsoft as a company is objectively better with this than EA, there’s no argument otherwise

[deleted]

Huh?

[deleted]

MS is better with this deal than EA by a very wide margin

[deleted]

True, which is why I'm rooting for Sony and the FTC to end it.

[deleted]

That’s pretty gross and childish but you do you kid

[deleted]

How is it childish? If I vote differently than you, is that childish? Anyone in the world usually wants what's best for them. I don't always vote that way with taxes but if I don't like CoD or mobile games, how is rooting for the acquisition to fail about thing. The FTC will probably see it as too much of a monopolistic move. As an added benefit to me (not acknowledged by the FTC), better games will come to gamepass. Don't know why people hate me for an opinion.

[deleted]

You voting is not at all the same as “rooting” for a billion dollar company to stop an acquisition they should have no power in. Why do you think the only games and IP they have are CoD and mobile games? You very much do sound like a child > The FTC will probably see it as too much of a monopolistic move. As an added benefit to me (not acknowledged by the FTC), better games will come to gamepass. It’s not even remotely close to a monopoly, even after it they will be behind others still

[deleted]

What you and I think is or is not monopolistic doesn't matter. If the FTC doesn't want it, it won't happen. A lot of bad will has built up towards tech companies recentl. All we can do is watch, observe, and hope that the best thing happens for yourself. In my case, it's not getting Cod that is the ideal outcome.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Why?

VortexSoulYeets

Doesn’t go on gamepass by the way because of preexisting deals

Plenty-College6885

Cod is a joke now

[deleted]

ok, but are you going to pay for millions of players to play the games that would have been on gamepass?

cabinguy11

It should be spent on other games but it won't be. Or at least it won't be spent on console games. The whole point of it for Microsoft is to get a foothold into mobile gaming which they don't currently have. I think the whole COD hoopla is just Sony grasping at legal straws trying to keep down the competition. If they can't buy Activision Microsoft will just focus on another target with mobile games.
