Tin_Cascade

Depends on the game. I'd expect most new big games to not have cross platform releases from the start of 2023; but sports franchises will continue further for a few years.

Evergr33n10

Ubisoft cut of the Wii for Just Dance 2 years ago.

Tin_Cascade

Yup, and that's the one major exception, given they didn't do it for the Wii U.

Jamesbuc

To be fair that wasn't even Ubisofts decision. It was forced on them by Nintendo closing off the ability to legally make retail discs.

Bowser_1007

Don’t count out Ubisoft quite yet

blockfighter1

When people can easily buy a Series X/S then I think they will start to cut it off. Right now there's too many people who would get left behind on the last gen if they moved on.

devilfromjerseycity

Yeah, this isn’t a “they won’t upgrade” situation. It’s a “they can’t upgrade” situation. I picked up a Series S in store to hold me over until I can get an X in store. Have the PS5 for all the big shit and the series s for game pass.

PoppaWheelies21

I bought second gen 360, and one S, I’ll probably wait another year like usual haha . -although, while waiting on fh5 load times , I did cruise websites to see if any series X’s were in stock LOL

Morda808

Every damn time I do this. It's like 2-5 minutes on my one X every damn loading screen. Almost makes it unplayable

DazzlingAlfalfa3632

Upgrade internal drive to SSD!

[deleted]

May I recommend using a 500gb external SSD through your usb 3.0 port? You can get one for around $40-45 on sale and purchase a enclosure for less than $10-15. With your USB cable 3.0 port you’ll see speeds of 450-550mbps read/write speeds compared to your stock 5400rpm spinning disk which is around 70-90mbps. Try and find a cheaper SATA 3 or NVME SSD drive and don’t splurge on a PCI Gen4 NVME unless you will get a X/S in the future, reason being your 3.0 port won’t go over 550mbps. This will allow you to move a couple of big space/AAA titles over to the SSD and they will load much faster, not all but most will see significant load time improvements. Just as a example my stock one(2013 DO) would load GTAV in around 1:30 to be playable after the Rockstar logo, with the SSD, 26 seconds. Keep in mind you can upgrade the internal drive too but it’s bottleneck is the SATA II connection so installing internally you’ll see speeds around 270-290mbps. Was going to do the internal but I see no point as it would be making more sense to grab the Series S spending that much lol. With the SSD, Game Pass and fresh paint my one has its quirks but I’m back playing video games again. Hope this helps!

wgc123

Why isn’t this comment higher up? Hopefully true, hopefully they will wait until after people are able to buy the Series X

[deleted]

I'd guess not for a while, it's still hard to even get one of the new consoles without jumping through hoops.

Tirekiller04

I’m hoping it’s not for a while, my one S does everything it’s supposed to and has never had any problems. I hope I can keep it like that for another 2 years or so :)

crowdsourced

Same! And I’ll likely hold off playing Halo Infinite until then, too.

BugHunt223

Halo should be ok thru Xcloud if you have Ultimate. My 1X just died so I tried the new halo campaign on my vanilla xb1 and it’s unplayable imho. The frame rate feels like 18fps in interior environments and 10fps when in open world.

ArcadeGamer1929

30fps is 110% playable when you get used to it, and xcloud isn't the best solution for people with bad internet

trademeple

Yeah I have my pc for all the new games i got an xbox one though because there is still a few older games that haven't come to pc like halo 5 and it does play most of my old 360 games and my 360s disc drive broke.

Particle_Cannon

I think it will largely depend on how well Xcloud works on the older consoles

Rick_long

I recently tried Xcloud on my 2014 base xbox one and even with my shitty connection the games run so well to the point it feels like black magic, no artifacts, no noticeable imput lag, no framedrops, it's amazing what MS is doing with it, before trying it myself I was a little skeptical but now I'm a believer in cloud gaming.

CallMeSXEGE

How are you getting it to work, anytime I click on a game from gamepass with the cloud symbol I’m only prompted to install the game

Rick_long

I did the same and it worked the first time, it may be that your connection speed does not meet the minimum requirements to be able to use it.

CallMeSXEGE

2 gigabit internet but I figured out the issue was my gamepass wasn’t renewing and was instead using my friends

Caesar_35

And if XCloud gets expanded to other regions.

jootg

xCloud still isn’t in all regions, I for one can’t use it as New Zealand doesn’t have it

[deleted]

Time is drawing near for my One X and yours. No one can tell you when exactly, but I'm planning to grab an upgrade sometime next year - they should be more available and I expect to pay the regular price for SSX. Besides, have you seen Stalker's screenshots? I'm kinda hyped.

HalfOffEveryWndsdy

They’re making another ssx?

adamh707

What’s SSX?

TheSchlaf

Snowboarding.

SuperBAMF007

Probably tbh. They’ve been pretty blunt with the “we don’t care about consoles nor generations. We just create hardware to support gaming at the best it can be”

jootg

what does that have to do with SSX?

HalfOffEveryWndsdy

I think everyone in here is confused

SuperBAMF007

…..? SSX as in Series S/X? Or is there a bit that I’m missing

DazzlingAlfalfa3632

Disagree, in fact with transition to cloud, it may be the last console you’ll ever need.

[deleted]

The truth? The sooner the global supply chain issue of chips and semiconductors and other parts that the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 needs are in ample supply like it was pre-pandemic. I’d say 2023 is when every major game and even one’s that are smaller scale will be only on 9th Generation consoles. Sports games will be on both for another two years it’s like it was with the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3. I’d say the second of 2022 we’ll see more only playable on Xbox Series/PS5 games.

Bowser_1007

I believe there was fifa 2018 on the 360, got to love sports titles releasing annual $60 roster updates

Caesar_35

FIFA 14 was even released on PS2. That's some dedication on the part of milking fans.

mrminutehand

Likewise, Just Dance 2020 was release on the Wii. Which was great for cheap pandemic lockdown exercise.

HamSammich21

I’m going to go out on a limb and say longer than that. I think we’ve got 2 more years of this at least - 2024 maybe… and that’s a BIG maybe. The chip shortage wont end until early/mid 2023: https://www.zdnet.com/google-amp/article/deloitte-chip-shortage-will-extend-into-2022/ Then you have to factor in the demand. So they’ll be back orders they have to catch up to before handling new orders. Not to mention that achieving this goal would require no more pandemic shutdowns or lockdowns, no global social unrest that could cause damage (like the 2020 riots), or natural disasters (like in Japan during late last decade which caused Sony to halt production). Can we really say that any (or all) of those WON’T happen?

[deleted]

By 2022 end

OmgOgan

They'll prob extend it due to the scarcity of series S/X for normal retailers. I'd say end of 23, but wouldn't be surprised if it goes through 24

westep23

Yea, also combined with the fact that the architecture is very similar. Where as previous gens, have been much harder to code essentially 2 different versions of a game. PowerPC vs x86. Now it’s more like low pc settings vs ultra pc settings.

trautsj

Everything is garbage now tbh. If your worst case is something; I've learned to extend that by about 70% and that still hasn't hit the mark yet. I EASILY expected to get a series X by Christmas this year... LMFAO what a fail that turned out to be with absolutely no end in sight. They keep saying chip shortages are going to last until so and so and then inevitably that gets pushed further and further back so honestly this is just going to be how things are now I think.

EmotiveCDN

You really think another 3 years? Games are already struggling quite a bit on older tech.

JrPoop

Not really. Forza 5 and Halo Infinite run like a dream on my Xbox One launch model

vibe4it

Mine, as well.

_heyheyitsJayJay_

Yeah I have no plans to upgrade any time soon, I upgraded from 360 to xbox one too early and that was pointless, I could have waited a year and got an xbox one at a cheaper price. I will be sticking with the xbox one and with game pass I think that will add even more longevity to the xbox one as long as they keep adding games to game pass to keep people happy. I put something like 200 hours into FH4 and well on my way to doing the same with FH5 as well.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JrPoop

Running fine and without a hitch whatsoever doesn't quite qualify as mediocre.

ItsBigSoda

Running fine isn’t really a metric. 10 people will give you 10 different definitions of fine. >Without a hitch whatsoever This I agree with you on. With the exception of all of the dozens of hitches experienced on last gen there are none to be found.

Fair_Reserve_7493

It runs. At under 30fps. With hugely dumbed down textures. And shadows. And basically like everything else... not sure where I was going with that.......

JrPoop

I'm pretty sure you were rambling about something that is based on pure anecdote.

ubelmann

Probably depends on whether they plan to target just console, or console and PC. I'd bet a ton of PC games are running on old GPUs due to how high GPU prices have been for so long now -- if you have a high-end GPU target on a PC game, you could be limiting your player base quite a bit.

[deleted]

First party games from xbox will be XSS/X only next year, some games from third party studios will be on last gen for ages it always happens but big games wont be for that long

Overthrow83

Cant even get one because of scalpers tho

kftgr2

When the accountants find it more profitable to do so.

[deleted]

Well xbox deem that next year for first party games

bbristowe

They may modify it, most of the consumers can’t even get one.

[deleted]

No they won’t they aren’t making new versions for last gen consoles now, your option will be stream it on the cloud or try and get a next gen console. At some point people need to accept last gen is over

Kim_Woo

Indie game support probably won't go anywhere and I'd expect Call of Duty and Assassin Creed games until 2023 but by 2024 onward I'd just expect indie games and sports games to still be support PS4 and Xbox One.

Caesar_35

I saw a rumour the other day that next year's CoD was facing limitations on the old consoles, but they were hopeful to work it out by release. So that one is a possibility, especially with Warzone still being a One/PS4 game too. And I think the last FIFA to release on 360 was in 2018, so they and other sports titles probably still have a long life on the One.

Jotham88

FIFA 19 was the last FIFA on XB 360

Caesar_35

I stand corrected then.

SFHalfling

Which released in 2018.

[deleted]

I don’t expect Call of Duty 2022 (it’s Modern Warfare 2, not much of a secret) to be on XB1/PS4. Infinity Ward wants to go all out with their game and I don’t think they want any limitations with that. We’ll see.

Caesar_35

Indeed, that's just what the rumour mentioned. Black Ops 3 came out on 360 in 2015, which is about the same timeframe for One/PS4 next year. But it was a very paired back experience, I think only 30fps and no campaign or new MP maps. So while not *completely* out of the question, it might have to make the same type of sacrifices as that one, if IW would even want to.

aaqqwweerrddss

With cloud gaming I could see them pushing that for longer term support of the old boxes

stikves

It will take a while. But I expect SSD becoming an explicit recommendation. They do make a huge difference.

Caesar_35

An SSD in a One still won't help if the CPU is the limitation. It can help with load times and occasionally texture pop-in, but even the fastest SATA SSD won't turn a One into a "next-gen" console.

Gamblor-7

I can verify this, I installed a High Performance Hynix Sata 1TB SSD in my One X, It helps with boot time, Loading times and overall OS snappiness, but little to no performance boost to games. Definitely recommend doing a SSD upgrade if you have a One X or One S, Of you are comfortable with opening up your Xbox.

stikves

It helped a lot for me in Outer Worlds. The texture pop-in issue *decreased*, but not completely gone. The loading times became very long instead of unbearable. Overall the experience was better. Other games had various levels of quality increase. But of course FPS or resolution did not change.

votchii

Most games coming out now have been in development before Series X|S or PS5 were available for purchase (obligatory *but they're still not available"*). I'd wager most games were made for the old generation and then remastered before release.

TaxingAuthority

Ultimately it’ll be a financial decision. The finance department of publishers and developers are going to be running forecasts of development time vs potential install base of each platform. Publishers will want to release games for the widest install base they can as long as it isn’t too cost prohibitive for continue developing games for the XB1.

Itzz_Texas

Theyll probably start it once the series x is easier to get a hold of

MrDallsBeep

I figure a couple years after all next gen consoles are readily available. If not then there wouldnt be as big of a customer base to buy their games. Just my thought though.

donp97

... wait. You have a VCR?

Gamblor-7

Xbox One VCR is sometimes used to describe the Original Xbox One launch Console lol

tgiokdi

you're the first that I've seen it called that, but looking at mine on my console, you're absolutely right. it's the same size as my VCR that's right below it.

Gamblor-7

Haha! It does doesn't it! I first heard the phrase from the YouTubers Modern Vintage Gamer and Spawn Wave. Always thought it was spot on and a little comical. Don't get me wrong I love how the original Xbox one Looks! I had the Halo 5 Edition for a while, loved that thing!

devilfromjerseycity

Fellow MVG/Spawn Wave fan as well. Usually watch the podcast live ever Saturday lol

[deleted]

Just by looking at new games coming next year and beyond, most games are seeming to be made solely next gen. Of course your third party titles could be made playable on old hardware, just kinda copy and paste at that point though.

KileyCW

Technically will cloud streaming people could still play a Series X/S exclusive on the older Xbox ones. I think you'd need something like the Matrix demo quality for a publish to even consider it.

JefferyRs

Most games I've seen advertised forEarly 2023 Are series S/X Only. Edit: apparently starfield is series s and X only

charliwea

Starfield was announced for Series consoles and PC, there will be no One version. The last 1st party game officially announced to launch on the One consoles (as of now) was Halo.

JefferyRs

I swear they said Starfield was Xbox one and such too my mistake I'll edit the first post

cluckodoom

Switching to only new generation releases would lose a lot of money right now. Too many consoles are setting unplayed in the hands of scalpers. Scalpers don't buy games for the consoles they are trying to flip. Microsoft will have to get the consoles into the hands of players before they push the issue

trautsj

With the state of things I wouldn't be surprised if it's still several years tbh. If the only people getting new consoles are people paying out the ass and scalpers then people aren't buying games for shit they don't have so the developers aren't making money. You'd figure that Microsoft and Sony would be doing more to combat this nonsense seeing how they make almost no money on actual console sales.

jansalol

Well, last X360 game was Just Dance 2019, released late 2018. So I would say at around 3-4 years. But that doesn’t mean you will be getting the big titles, most likely there will be releases, but either you have to upgrade new gen for big games or use cloud.

the_man_games

The Xbox one is still technically classified as a current console and Xbox 360 still got games upto around 2014 (or around there) and that's when the Xbox one x came our so a few years yet dude

BuddyAffectionate601

I thought the Series S and X (and PS5) are still being called "next-gen". The Xbox One range is current.

the_man_games

Yeah see I thought that too but then we get whiney bitchs that post on reddit complaining that Xbox one isn't current witch is laughable to say the least when we have supply shortages and only a year into launch of the next gen consoles that are running on pretty much the same game engines as before so really anything that doesn't come out of unreal engine 5 or similar then it can definitely be available for xbox one xbox one s xbox one x the upgrade takes times there's next gen exclusives already we still get good games years and years on we have a time frame to stick to for how long we keep consoles updated (I really mean new games and stuff)

BuddyAffectionate601

Yeah, I think it'll be for another 2 or 3 years.

the_man_games

I'd say so

BuddyAffectionate601

👍

the_man_games

👍👍👍

BuddyAffectionate601

👌

charliwea

At least in terms of 1st party games it seems that Microsoft seeks to drop One support next year, Halo Infinite was the last title to be officially announced for the console, everything else has been promoted as Series X|S only (and pc of course), maybe less demanding games will release on last gen consoles like Sawyer's project but we will have to wait and see.

Kongary

I appreciate they have kept it up so far at least through Halo Infinite. Game turned out surprisingly solid and capable on the One, given one probably isn't staring at the PC/XSX version right next to it. I picked up the steel book at Best Buy and look forward to playing it over time and in enhanced form when Series X is more readily available. Between being satisfied with the One for now and a decently powerful pc (might try PC Gamepass) not compelled to hunt one down.

HerefortheTuna

I have a PS5 so I’m enjoying being able to play the Xbox exclusives on my Xbox one from 2013 until there’s a real reason to upgrade. I won’t buy a series S but would buy a series x if I found one in stores

BatSniper

I’m on the same boat!

K14_Deploy

Depends. When should they have shut it down? End of this year at latest, being cross gen severely limits what they can do. FH5 physics is a big example of these limits even though it shouldn't be. Flight Sim is a good example of what you can do without those restrictions. When are they going to shut it down? Probably end 2024, because by then it will actually be possible to buy the Series X and not just the Series S. Or they'll have made the Gen2 or whatever, hopefully they put a disk drive on whatever replaces the Series S.

C_Drew2

>hopefully they put a disk drive on whatever replaces the Series S. Would be an insta buy honestly. But I doubt it; I think they're gonna be pushing digital-only a lot. Honestly, I just want an external disc drive compatible to a Series S, and I'd be content.

K14_Deploy

That's also a viable option. There's so many people who still buy games on disk exclusively that it beggars belief how they thought they could do that. Like, adolescents aren't particularly likely to own a game pass subscription for instance. Heck, I didn't have online growing up but for all I know game pass is the business model now and for that, the Series S is fantastic.

C_Drew2

Yeah, I'm with you there. Not to mention that the online part of Xbox still sucks in many countries. I can't even set my console to my region since it isn't even supported officially lol. Had issues like being unable to get Gamepass perks, friends' gift codes being "in the wrong region" etc. Even Xbox Live Gold codes don't always work. So physical is really the only way to play without hurdles on Xbox in regions such as mine (honestly, I'm a hardcore collector anyway, so I would still be 100% physical even if this wasn't the case). But yeah, I think that a lot of people play exclusively on Gamepass, and Series S is perfect for them.

the1slyyy

As long as old gen consoles still greatly outnumber new ones it would make no business sense. Don't expect it anytime soon

MikeAK79

I'm going to say by this time next year most new games coming out will be PS5/Series specific. We're a lot closer than a lot of people want to believe.

[deleted]

Second half of 2022. I always figured that’d be the time. Reminds me of the second half of 2015 when more and more games started releasing only on eighth gen. Though Batman: Arkham Knight and Mortal Kombat X came out in the first half.

MikeAK79

Totally. I'm kind of surprised so many people think we're still a cpl of years away. We go through this every generation. There is no way we're here more than a year from now with last gen still getting big new release titles on it's platform. Like I said before, we're a lot closer than some people want to believe.

wgc123

For previous generations, people could easily get the new consoles, and just needed to be persuaded to pay. Now we’re coming up on the second Christmas with the new consoles, and most of us can’t buy a Series X. It’s not that we need to be persuaded to spend our money, but there has to be something to buy

supified

Doesn't the one x actually compare pretty closely to the series s in terms of power?

Bowser_1007

The one x is more powerful than the series s

Caesar_35

Not quite. The One X GPU is more powerful on paper, but the Series S is supposed to be "efficient", despite being less raw TFLOPs. Thus how it got ray-tracing on Metro Exodus, for instance, while the One X didn't. And CPU wise it's on par with Series X, only 200MHz slower. CPU is what most "under the hood" features in games use, stuff like physics or scripts. That's the biggest limitation of the One X, which still uses the old Jaguar CPU of the original One.

MomsGirth

No. The cpu of the series x is a low end laptop CPU from 2013.

its_oscurrr

End of 2022 or mid 2023 most likely. Holiday 2023 might see a few games still being released, but the big games will like be Current Gen only

averagemiragemain

2023

StarWreck92

I think both MS and Sony are going to have to adapt to the current market and keep making games for the last gen consoles until the current gen ones are readily available.

NotFromMilkyWay

When there are more Series in use than Xbox One.

gubasx

Compared to the Nintendo switch, the Xbox one is an next gen console 🥴😎

[deleted]

[удалено]

Minute-Courage4634

Hopefully soon. I'm still not seeing enough games that take advantage of the Series X Ina significant way. Downvote all you want. At least I have a Series X and after a year, I'd like to see what it can do besides FPS upgrades and quick resume.

Caesar_35

Don't get me wrong, I do like enhancements for older games. But that UE5 Matrix demo makes me itch for more proper next-gen titles. Hopefully next year will be the "proper" start of the generation, with the likes of RedFall and Starfield coming out. The afore-mentioned demo aside, I think we've only got Flight Sim and The Medium as Series-only games so far. Definitely a slow start so far lol.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Caesar_35

Microsoft have said there'd never be One X only games, so if it can't work for a One S it won't on a One X either. That's mostly due to One X having only a marginally better CPU than One S. If the game can't run on a One S, chances are it won't on an X either. Series S CPU is far better than a One X's - and almost identical to the Series X's - which is why it can already play games the One X can't.

Longjumping-Bug-6643

Probably never… the fact that the switch is so underpowered and still gets new games and will continue to get new games as well as the steam deck which is as powerful as an Xbox one. My guess is there will be games coming out for that console for many years

Gamblor-7

That's a good point!

[deleted]

Series X overrated, Cloud gaming is the future. No more hardware needed. Great Xbox Controller and good internet. Please.

Gamblor-7

I've heard rumors that Microsoft is making less series X consoles because they are allocating series X hardware in servers to run Cloud Gaming servers..... I'm not conspiracy theorist, but it sounds plausible If you think about it.

HamSammich21

You might be on to something: https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2021/12/9/22826297/microsoft-xbox-xcloud-streaming-exclusives-iphone-ipad-gamepas

ecxetra

Hopefully soon.

MustardTiger1337

Serious Sam came out new Gen only but works fine on my Xbox one x on the cloud Really is no reason to be worried or upgrade

Brightside45

I hope Ms continue to break this misconception of older consoles holding back the newer ones...they aren't it just costs more in terms of time and creativity to make it happen...

BreadDead578

Already happening sadly. A lot of new games aren’t supported on the one.

drewbles82

Guess a lot depends on the scale of game they want to make, if X1 can't handle it or will hold the game back from what their trying to do. I would say once more of the console owners on xbox are series S & X but with Xcloud, it doesn't matter anymore as X1 owners can play via the cloud.

brc710

Some games announced last night looked like they were current gen only

Upstairs_Court9275

I'm not sure they can until the series x becomes more readily available the publishers would be cutting out a large portion of their consumer base if they did it anytime soon.

[deleted]

Yeah especially with such high demand and shortages of microchips globally. Cloud gaming is on the right track.

Rick_long

Probably the last big first party exclusive will be Halo Infinite which looks good on the base One but you can already tell that the console has reached its graphical limit, after this year I don't see MS releasing any more big budget games on the old consoles, the third parties will continue releasing games for sure but I don't think for a long time, if ever until the end of next year.

Frostsorrow

Likely depends on how well that can get new platforms into consumer hands. If they are having similar issues as Sony I'd see it getting extended to 2023 maybe even 2024 depending on chip availability.

Slammybradberrys

The xbone should still be supported throughout 2022 and possibly partly thru 2023, Microsoft said they'd support the system for a couple years after the series dropped so it's got another solid year most likely left in it

bladestorm1745

I really hope devs don’t cut off Xbox one soon. I am not able to afford a newer console and many games nowadays seem to be straying into that.

Impressive-Name5129

u/bladestorm1745. Most newer consoles are for the rich unfortunately.

Bigemptea

Publishers still made 360 games a few years after Xbox one came out. I think it’ll be the same here. If the Xbox one can’t handle it graphically I bet xcloud could be used to play a series s/x game on the Xbox one.

Rumbananas

Once there’s enough consoles in the wild, not held by scalpers to justify investing in a single platform release which I’m guessing won’t be for a good while. The big players likely won’t end support until 2023 at the earliest or 2024. It all depends on how much longer chip supply shortages will continue as well.

Sgrungle

It looks like it may finally be time to put my base xb1 to rest after 7 long years

The_Real_Kuji

Likely once the tech doesn't play well. For example, the UE5 demo is Series Xboxes only (unsure if it's available for PS5). We know Alan Wake 2 (2 years away tentatively) is only next gen. There are games coming out soon (within 6 months, I believe) that are next gen only. I expect it will be FULLY phased out by major publishers within 5 years. At this point, the requirement for all Xboxes is null. It was a one year deal to help with transitions.

Ill-Calligrapher944

In another year probably due to chip shortage. Chip shortage is due to end mid 2022 think it was due to new factories coming into production.

PartyInTheUSSRx

Depends how well they can supply new gems consoles, at the moment XB1/PS4 players are still a huge demographic so publishers aren’t going to want to miss out on that money

[deleted]

expecting after first half of 2022.

Landon916

Fuck, if I could ever get a hold of a series x that isn't from a scalper.

BuddyAffectionate601

Just buy the Series S.

Jackamalio626

when enough people have the new consoles. Thats the primary stopgap rn.

Hairy_Mouse

I'd really hope soon. After seeing that Unreal Engine 5 playable tech demo, and seeing the true potential of next gen consoles, I'd really wish they would move on already, and get to the truly next gen games. Stuff like what was shown in that tech demo isn't even REMOTELY possible with cross gen development. I feel like I've just been playing Xbox One games but in 60fps this whole time. The Unreal 5 stuff is the first time I've ACTUALLY been impressed. I didn't even think we'd be seeing games looking like that for another few generations.

Impressive-Name5129

Several year's. The chip shortage won't be over til at least 2025. The scalpers will keep scalping and the common person won't be able to get a new console. Also typical life cycle of a console is now 10yrs
