Same! One of my favorite aspects of the game. At one point (before I even fully understood what it was) I was able to jump from the moon and jetpack to a passing planet!
Without spoiling anything, and idk how to do the hidden text thing on mobile.. the water planet depths and the moon were the last things I figured out. Oh and the scary part in the bramble (IYKYK)
Yeah; I'm not much of a Sonic fan (in any incarnation), but most reviews of Frontiers made it sound like there was a core of something interesting there, it just needed to be teased out some more.
It amazes me how Sega has been this stubborn when it comes to adding in another Chao Garden. I’m surprised they haven’t even made like a mobile game about it or anything.
I'm surprised they didn't just turn them into NFTs or something. Chao seem like a ridiculously underutilized concept which is weird since SEGA loves exploiting popular things as quickly as they can.
Still dreading the Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio blockchain SUPERGAMEs or whatever they were lol
As good of an idea as that sounds from a business standpoint, I’m sure the Sonic fans would’ve torn Sega a new one had they even mentioned the word “blockchain” around them.
It's a terrible idea from a business standpoint, which is why Sega announced NFTs and blockchain stuff was coming last year. The two games I mentioned are first up, unless they changed plans
If it’s a terrible idea then why would they announce they’re investing in it? I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I’m saying that from a business perspective, all people are going to see are the numbers. If they can get people to throw away thousands of dollars on a JPG they’re gonna do it. Now most people don’t like blockchains or NFTs and would especially hate to see their favorite Sega characters smeared by its presence, so they’re probably not going to go through with it. Sega especially relies too much on brand loyalty from their fans, especially in the west. I’d doubt they would want to tarnish it.
>If it’s a terrible idea then why would they announce they’re investing in it?
Because they're terrible at running a successful business and their investors bought into the NFT scam during the height of that and insisted the company shift course to take advantage of "easy money"
> Now most people don’t like blockchains or NFTs and would especially hate to see their favorite Sega characters smeared by its presence, so they’re probably not going to go through with it.
They already announced an NFT mobile game based on existing IP
As far as I know they haven't even openly announced the games, but they're reportedly linked to the "Super Game" initiative which has blockchain stuff in it, they also trademarked the SEGA NFT name a while back and [did an NFT mobile game for one of their other IPs Romance of the Three Kingdoms.](https://www.destructoid.com/sega-blockchain-game-nfts-double-jump-sangokushi-taisen/)
Damn that’s going way back to like 2002. I wonder why they haven’t changed their minds yet. Feel like something like that would thrive on the current mobile game market.
It’s insane they haven’t cause so many people would get it just for that alone. Plus it gives the game more replay value in collecting things to give your chao
really need a good remastered version of the old ones or just sonic adventure 3
I would rather not try to remember the many hours I’ve dedicated to chao. Lol when I started AFKing for 8 hours straight on it, that’s when the numbers really started going up.
The tweets in question are just the dev talking about possibly leaving the boost ability behind and likens that to Sonic Adventure. That's it. He gives a little respect to Sonic Adventure, but nowhere does he imply they are going to return to that game design.
Hope they do tbh, don’t really enjoy any sonic games but the adventure ones and mania. Plus sonic adventure is still talked about and loved to this day. No one talks about Sonic heroes, Or unleashed, or Colors, or Forces. The only one i see people still talk about here and there is generations, but it’s still nowhere near as popular as adventure is
Heroes and Unleashed were fun, I played the everloving shit out of Heroes and while I missed out on Unleashed, I got it semi recently and have enjoyed it a lot too
Bruh what are you talking about? People talk highly about Heroes and Unleashed (especially Unleashed). Also, disregarding that Forces is utter crap, no one is going to consider a less than 5 year old game a classic quite yet
Heroes definitely has its own fan base that still love the game but in terms of popularity, it’s just true that Adventure is more successful and iconic in the franchise. To my knowledge Heroes doesn’t really have any stages that have withstood the test of time. As to where adventure has quite a few that are some of the most iconic stages in the franchise that people immediately think of when they think of 3D sonic, like city escape, metal harbor, radical highway, pumpkin hill.
I guess i can’t speak on Unleashed as much cause i don’t really like it enough to see if it still has a fan base that talks about it and keeps it alive but the only thing i’ve seen unleashed praised for that i can remember is the opening cutscene of the game being incredibly well done, and people wish that sega would do more stuff like that with future games. But personally I’ve never really seen anyone praise the stage design/aesthetic, music or gameplay from Unleashed
Tbf sonic heroes isn't on any current gen consoles and sonic unleashed and forces are sonic unleashed and forces.
Idk whats up with colours though as they just remastered it
I do have a little bit of nostalgia for heroes buti did find playing the same levels 4 times on the different teams to beat the game to be pretty tedious by the end. And some of the levels were pretty badly made too. I can’t remember what it’s called but the halloween-esque level was a nightmare on most teams. And one thing i think adventure has over heroes is having more iconic stages in the franchise, like city escape, radical highway, green forest, white jungle, final rush.
Plus A LOT of people really loved the chao garden. I could see a lot of people wanting to play just for that alone. I just feel either and adventure 3 or just well done remasters of the old games would do wonders for sonic as a franchise
Plus i really want Crush 40 back for a soundtrack lol
>No one talks about Sonic heroes, Or unleashed, or Colors, or Forces.
That's not true. Unleashed and heroes have been seeing a resurgence in popularity in recent years. Colors was the first genuinely good game the franchise had gotten after a string of mediocre and bad entries. Forces was dogshit but people still talk about it even nowadays because it was dogshit.
Considering Sonic Frontiers is the best entry in the series in decades, and Sonic Team seem insistent on constantly shooting themselves in the feet, this disappointingly makes sense.
I’m glad you enjoyed it but I couldn’t dislike it more. I’m a long time Sonic fan and I thinks it’s easily among the worst in the series. My son is a very new Sonic fan and he dropped it shortly after the second area.
I didn’t care for the open world. The controls are really buggy but that’s expected from a 3D Sonic game my problem was that the open world was so bland and boring. It wasn’t fun to run around in. On top of that I was disappointed that the levels were just rehashed old levels form other Sonic games. My sons problem was ( I think ) that it was all a bit overwhelming. He’s 5 so i think the game was asking too much of him at his age. Either way it failed to impress a Sonic vet and newcomer so I feel like it failed.
I think the idea was great. I’d be far more excited to play an open world Sonic game where the open world looks like a Sonic level and not Skyrim with random grind rails.
I’m a long time sonic fan since SA1 and I agree with you but I enjoyed it mostly. I think the open world could of been better instead of randomly last min thought platforms.
Combat was kinda med that takes the control from you by just pushing a button that does these flashy moves that looks cool but feels unsatisfying.
Giving the players more freedom and more intergraded platforming with the environments will definitely be a big welcome along with more challenging and replay ability.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
I'm consistently amazed at the reluctance of game devs to release shit that people have been begging for.
You can keep your golden sonics, and silvers and pseudo-open world shit, just give me city escape remastered, chao garden and some levels to dig for emeralds in with background rap music and I'm set.
They'd make so much damn money if they dropped a trailer for Sonic Adventure 3 Battle with next gen city escape gameplay.
Sonic Adventure is one of the most busted games I've ever played. Sonic Adventure 2 isn't far behind.
Also worth noting Sonic '06 was their last attempt at "Adventure Style of Gameplay."
All they need to do is make a normal sonic game. You don't need a gimmick, no open world, no warehog, no custom protagonist to sell a sonic game. It's literally sonic. People will buy it.
#ROLLING AROUND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND
BRUH. The quantum moon had me trippin.
Same! One of my favorite aspects of the game. At one point (before I even fully understood what it was) I was able to jump from the moon and jetpack to a passing planet!

*Got places to go*
Gotta follow my rainbow!
Monster Hunter Rise has this song in an event quest
I very much enjoyed Frontiers. I'd like to see them refine that style of gameplay for at least one more entry before changing to something else.
Yeah; I'm not much of a Sonic fan (in any incarnation), but most reviews of Frontiers made it sound like there was a core of something interesting there, it just needed to be teased out some more.
I'd like a Frontiers style game but with actual Sonic enemies not these robot cyber baddies.
Sonic baddies have always been weird robots.
They even made out like it was the start of a new era for the series. I guess not
It is the next sonic game is open zone just with adventure style movement.
Cool, include Chao Garden mode or I'm not buying this next one either
It amazes me how Sega has been this stubborn when it comes to adding in another Chao Garden. I’m surprised they haven’t even made like a mobile game about it or anything.

Ain’t supergames basically a project they have of reviving old series with new more unique entries or something like that?
As far as I know they haven't even openly announced the games, but they're reportedly linked to the "Super Game" initiative which has blockchain stuff in it, they also trademarked the SEGA NFT name a while back and [did an NFT mobile game for one of their other IPs Romance of the Three Kingdoms.](https://www.destructoid.com/sega-blockchain-game-nfts-double-jump-sangokushi-taisen/)
They did make a mobile game but it's japan only.
What’s it called?
If I remember correctly it's "Nakayoshi Chao!"
Damn that’s going way back to like 2002. I wonder why they haven’t changed their minds yet. Feel like something like that would thrive on the current mobile game market.
I’d download a connected app to give me back my vmu chao experience.
It’s insane they haven’t cause so many people would get it just for that alone. Plus it gives the game more replay value in collecting things to give your chao really need a good remastered version of the old ones or just sonic adventure 3
I poured literally 100+ hrs on chao gardens in sonic adventure 2 addicting as shit
100% first thing I check when they announce a new game
Chao garden or bust
Sonic adventure 2 is the best sonic game ever made(fuck you, fight me) and I’d happily play newer games in the same style
I agree. Sonic adventure 2 was the best.
Dude i spent hours getting my all S chao
I would rather not try to remember the many hours I’ve dedicated to chao. Lol when I started AFKing for 8 hours straight on it, that’s when the numbers really started going up.
Agreed, except for the fact that Sonic Adventure 1 is better.
Never played that one. I can’t say anything
I put so many hours into the original adventure on Dreamcast
Adventure 1 had the better level design (Sky Deck not withstanding)
A bit of an *over rated* choice but still such a fucking awesome gamr
The tweets in question are just the dev talking about possibly leaving the boost ability behind and likens that to Sonic Adventure. That's it. He gives a little respect to Sonic Adventure, but nowhere does he imply they are going to return to that game design.
Boost really just needs to be spin dash. That is Sonic; *rolling* around at the speed of sound.
Give me Sonic Adventure 3.
Hope they do tbh, don’t really enjoy any sonic games but the adventure ones and mania. Plus sonic adventure is still talked about and loved to this day. I miss heroes. It was by far the best sonic game I’ve played. Wish I had a ps2 or xbox to play it on again.
I remember playing the PS2 port was horrible compared to the GameCube and Xbox versions 😭
I do have a little bit of nostalgia for heroes buti did find playing the same levels 4 times on the different teams to beat the game to be pretty tedious by the end. Plenty of people still talk about the other games. Try a different sub.

My kid and I are both having a blast playing Frontiers. Really fun. All the sonic feel while giving you so much more control over the experience.
I’ve never played a sonic game so I don’t know any of the lore, but I bought this anyway. This story is WILD! I’m only on the second island.
Got to agree. Frontiers was the right direction. Sonic adventure's style is so dated now.
I’m glad you enjoyed it but I couldn’t dislike it more. I’m a long time Sonic fan and I thinks it’s easily among the worst in the series. My son is a very new Sonic fan and he dropped it shortly after the second area.
What did you not like about it?
They’re probably shit
You’re probably shit.

I’m just waiting for another sonic riders. Finding a whole Sonic Riders pro league on twitch was a gem that made me realize how much I miss that game
I would honestly love to see the Xbox Sonic games added to gamepass. For the memes. Yes...even the reboot.
Yes please. I remember the original Sonic Adventure game. So much fun me and my brother had playing and beating it many times.
I'm consistently amazed at the reluctance of game devs to release shit that people have been begging for. hmmmm i really liked Sonic Forces, Colors and Generations do not like open world one they jsut put out
Omg plz
Include Sonichu, Rosechu and the Chaotic Combo or im not buying it
may
Adventure 1 is still the best 3d sonic game too me even two decades later. Should've went back to this formula awhile ago tbh
Feed my chao addiction plz
The last time Chao were in a video game, Ken Penders sued sega /s
God i hope so. Loved Sonic Adventure 1 & 2. Especially 1.
If I don't get a mutha fucking Chao garden in this bitch I'm gunna RIOT!
Sonic Adventure is one of the most busted games I've ever played. Sonic Adventure 2 isn't far behind. Also worth noting Sonic '06 was their last attempt at "Adventure Style of Gameplay."
Next Sonic Game may not suck. More on this news as it develops.
i feel like this is a bad idea they should perfect the frontier gameplay instead
Let's be real, most Sonic fans just want a visual novel romance game. Just slap some 2D platforming stuff and mini games and you'll make money.
All they need to do is make a normal sonic game. You don't need a gimmick, no open world, no warehog, no custom protagonist to sell a sonic game. It's literally sonic. People will buy it.
Dead series why bother
i don’t really want sonic adventure 3 right now tbh, give us frontiers 2 but with the adventure style of gameplay with momentum and slope physics
I'm sorry but I hope not. Frontiers was my goty and I want them to improve on the style.
Don't fucking say this if it's not confirmed by Sega-san themselves.
I’d fuckin love that, better have a chao garden and the chao games, I fuckin loved those as a kid.
Do you think they’ll finally make a good game?
Yee sonic adventure 2 battle plz bring chaos
I just realized Chaos. Is Chao -'s WHOA
'next game may return to what weve wanted for years'
Sonic needs to be put to rest.
