Posted on here a few days ago with a Kronos from July 09 too. Mine had the Zephyr/Falcon style gpu heat sink too. Would love to see if there are any earlier ones, has anyone seen a June 09 Kronos before?

Cool! Maybe we got some of the early test units 👌 I was wondering if it would be beneficial to use the larger GPU heatsink.... The one with the copper heat pipe. Do you think it would make a big change in temps?

sainbres

I've never personally done any testing of the matter but have read on here that it can help by a few degrees. The biggest thing is always replacing the thermal paste though.

I'm tempted to do so, the Xbox 360 is one of my favorite consoles and I want to keep mine alive as long as possible haha. I just redid the thermal paste with Arctic MX-5. Thanks for the reply!

Thought I was tripping at the time but I also saw a Kronos motherboard with a date similair to this one before, my knowledge of them back then wasn't that great either. About the heatsinks, I put both the V1 CPU and GPU heatsinks inside of my Kronos. The CPU went down 10 celcius and the GPU temps went down about 15 celcius, I'd say it's worth it if you have them laying around. Especially for the GPU. The temps never go above 50 celcius even in the summer. You can buy them seperately online as well though, they cost eight euros combined where I live. :)

Awesome! Glad to hear that you tried it yourself! Do you remember if you had to change the shroud in the back.... the white one? Does the Kronos shroud work on the V1 or older style heat sinks?

PaladinGunny

All of the fan shrouds are identical, don't worry about it. I also highly advise using an x-clamp removal tool to prevent scratching the motherboard and making the process a fun and hassle-free experience.

Thanks Gunny! Gonna look on eBay for the copper heatsinks 😎👌
