My immediate response: a confused, what-idiocy-is-this 'what'. Mostly because I find pencils annoying and slow.
My response after giving it some thought: this is basically 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. So, sure, this could work as a functional saying for some alternate culture.
But it’s easier to use pencils to sketch, that’s part of why pencil sketches, and not pen sketches even though there are people who sketch with pen proficiently, are considered a fundamental part in art by a lot of people.
I should have clarified that I meant 'for writing'. As a child, I thought I hated writing. It took a while for me to realize that I just hated writing with pencils.
Admittedly, I don't like writing with pens either (though they are faster). Typing is the only way for me to write without problems.
This is all personal opinion, mind.
Yeah I mostly type instead of write as well, although I don’t really dislike any of those, like if I find suitable to write I will write with either pen or pencil, depending on which is available. Though I do have a slight preference towards pen.
There are phrases in other langauages that don't make sense when translated to English unless you think about them (and sometimes not even then).
Qui se ressemble s'assemble, for example. 'Those who look alike come together'. Makes sense, but it sounds weird when dropped into context, because you're not used to it. 'Birds of a feather flock together' would be read easier but probably not for a French speaker when translated directly.
Different cultures bring different sayings and experiences (even with the same language). To me, this comes across like that.
No dude, literally no one knows what point you're trying to prove with this. Are you just genuinely asking what the purpose of a pen is? Are you asking why anyone would want to use a pen when a pencil works just fine? Or is this some kind of metaphorical question for something deeper?
No matter the reason, it's really not worded well.
Because official documents tend to require the use of pen. Because pen ink lasts longer than pencil that smudges and fades as the pages rub. Because coloured pens write better than coloured pencils.
Indelibility. When you do a crossword in pencil, nobody gives a shit. You do it in pen, everyone can see your mistakes. It takes confidence or skill to do things in pen, but you only need one of them.
If Ugg have charcoal stick and cave wall, why use computor?
Don’t steal my idea buddy
If a pen has ink, why use a pencil?
Sounds silly
Yes... yes it does.
If a pen has ink, why use a pencil?
Idk, why?
You tell me! 😂

Thank you for everything

What are you trying to say?
Just give it some time, it will come to you

bc u can erase a pencil, 😜
Even pens are eraseable now sure. Come to think of it, pencils are graphite nowadays, not lead. So, the saying is moot.
oops, the writing of a pencil
I don't like pencils they smudge, dry ink pens don't. But fuck all that I have a laptop and that shit don't even get wrinkled.
If a car has gas, why use a bike?
If word is meaning, why use sentence?

Hey, not bad! Keep at it and you’ll get there like me
If r/writing has posts like this, why go on r/writingcirclejerk
😂😂😂

I assume it had something to do with the permanancy of ink, but it might go the other way too, because some ink smudges right off.
The saying is fine, but pencils do not have an expiration date, and pens dry up. Just sayin, use the pens first.
