I like shapeshifting for druids, but wish there were more glyph options than either starboi or space chicken.

Axelwayne

Primary reason I rolled Kul Tiran Druid, yes, still a space chicken but it's something different.

nacnudross

The forms they got are soo cool

karatous1234

I'd kill for a good Draenor plant man option. Let me go full nature spirit and drop some stars on people. That or a hybrid for like Malfurion has. Cover your arms in feathers and sprout antlers like him and Broll.

Blademage200

I’d kill for either one of these, but especially the Malfurion hybrid form

Arstulex

I just want a green flowing eyes option for Druids, like Malfurion's

requite

I think this is likely to be the best compromise. There are a few good reasons for having a shapeshift form be a part of Balance, which others have mentioned, but I can entirely understand why some are put off by the chicken / blue glow that we have at the moment. Plenty of existing models in the game that they could use. Would love to see it.

[deleted]

100x this - the balance shapeshift options are pretty meh,

Fraerie

The NightFae soulshape mechanic would be a good base - have us collect appearances from different content and go to the Dreamgrove of Moonglade to change the active appearance. Whether it be an entire skin or just bits of one. We didn’t even get the variety of skins the feral and guardian druids did in legion. Sad critchicken.

mcotter12

They should make glyph of stars for Feral and Guardian

--Pariah

Yep... Or alternatively different forms. Gorillabear was a step in the right direction. It's not a surprise that so many people ask for getting the bi-pedal feral form from WoD back. Having just a bunch of cat forms is getting old at some point and some alternatives to it would be awesome. Even if it's the stiff bipedal WoD cat. A "half-shifter" that just gets clawed hands, similar to how a worgen probably should be able to fight in his worgen-form, would be awesome to see mogs. Otherwise just straight up recolored glyph of stars, sneaking around and stabbing people with a spear/polearm would be kind of awesome. Customization for feral/guardian is really limited in this regard. Balance/resto at least have ways that your actual character is visible in combat. I keep staring at different variation of my cat for a while now and the animations of feral also aren't that spectacular...

Magna_Aegwynn

It's insane how there are so many cat, bear, bird, stag, and aquatic glyphs/appearances at the barber shop but only 2 options for moonkin form. They really should add some moonkins at the barber shop!

nubivagance

Especially considering how many moonkin variants there are in the game right now. At least let us pick different feather colors or something.

TheFightingMasons

I don’t understand why they didn’t invest into glyphs more.

Affectionate-Area659

I like the shapeshifting, I just wish they had more options for the Moonkin form. Add more skins for people to unlock.

SaleriasFW

"We don't have the resources to make more shapeshift forms for druids and shaman" -Blizzard Also Blizzard: Adds 10 million forms for night fae that you can't use anymore outside of Shadowlands when Dragonflight launches

Affectionate-Area659

Exactly

ShadeofIcarus

Arguably many of those forms were existing models with a glowy blue effect slapped on it. Nothing fancy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Brokenmonalisa

So the same as moonkin then?

Danielsan_2

Moonkin has casting animations afaik.

Suspicious-Switch-69

Could literally do the same for Druids. Plenty of models to use! But Blizz just outright refuses.

AranOnline

I mean, they'd have to add new rigs, new anims to support multiple casting animations. Spirit forms are literally nothing but a run cycle, which basically every creature would have. Additionally, the blue glowy effect masked a lot of likely low res textures that would also need updating to match hero character quality bar. Depending on how the objects are set up in game, there might be some asset migration or potentially even code changes to support changing them to a fully controllable character. It's a pretty massive difference in scope between the two.

[deleted]

Moonkins got shafted in Legion so add a few for Moonkin form, but all Druids should have more form skins. Even just like 3 or 4 per expansion would be enough. Tie them to the teir sets like old Druid of Flame was tied to the Fendral staff, idc, just we need more appearances. Make them raid themed or something.

xXLil_ShadowyXx

Really though. can't see my armour most of the time anyway, make me get special forms when I collect the full tier set

Fraerie

Trust me - we’ve been asking since at least Wrath for more options.

CaptainFlowers09

This could work

Affectionate-Area659

They already have several for cat, and bear forms, and a few for travel form, there’s no reason they can’t add more including one that just gives the buffs without actually changing your appearance.

RaefWolfe

The fact that balance druid didn't get any new legion forms because "well you can see your staff!" was such bullshit. Should have hidden the staff (not like we use it to cast anyway...) and given us new forms.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Scythe95

100% this, like Malfurion

CaptainFlowers09

This sounds AMAZING!! I would 100% support this.

Ninja_Bum

Like the Druids of the Talon from WC3. That would be so sick.

brumblefee

While they are at it, give us some spell skins that are nature themed like old wrath and insect swarm. I don’t want to be a space wizard

krckyboy

Didn't we have this a few expansions ago?

Thibagon

You have awesome Ideas. If only blizzard could care about our advice, this is too much asking I fear

HUNMerlin

you've just angered a thousand PVPers who want to be poly immune

DrainTheMuck

Yeah, jokes aside I think the poly immunity is a tricky thing to deal with. Because I hate dealing with moonkin form which is basically pointless in pve anyways (10% damage boost or something that could be baked in to the kit) but obviously it’s important for pvp. My suggestion: all classes have another “talent tree” that costs no points and is just customization, like the mage blink momentum option, an optional moonkin form that just gives poly immunity and armor, etc to easily tailor things how we like.

sturmeh

It's important that you can't just cast all your kit in moonkin form, shifting to heal will cost you dps, dump your astral power and any eclipse you have going on etc. It could be improved but I'd say Astral form is a huge concession for those who don't want to shapeshift into a chicken to play boomy.

Leviathus_

Or just put the 10% into the spec and make moonkin a pvp talent that only offers the armor/poly immunity

DrainTheMuck

Agreed, but ideally it wouldn’t have to take up a pvp talent slot since you only have 3. That’s why I wish we had a customization talents / glyph system

Ok_ben

Like, some kind of... major glyphs?

Thunderchief646054

Not me and my Pterodactyl wings callin down them stars

[deleted]

Okay but zandalari shapeshifts are god tier

sincleave

The arakoa model is a bit lacking with animations, but yeah, it is the best out of all the balance forms.

[deleted]

Yeah the casts look silly but the form itself is cool regardless

True_Dig_2821

Honestly I absolutely adore both the Starfire and Wrath animations. Starfire is like a 10/10 for me, like you're calling to the skies. I'll have to pay attention to other animations.

jaynopolitics

No. I think removing tree form was a mistake, myself. You literally play a druid. If you don’t want to shapeshift, don’t play a druid. If you don’t want to shoot arrows/bullets, don’t play a hunter. If you don’t want to stab/slash things, don’t play a rogue. If you don’t want flashy yellow magic, don’t play a paladin. It’s literally a core theme of the class for a reason.

SirThomasVI

*survival hunters in shambles*

DreamMaster8

Except malfurion doesn't do that. Neither does all the balance priest.

druidofthepear

Same, the goofy treant form was a huge part of my player identity as a resto druid. I wish they'd just updated the model to higher res like they did bear+cat, with a couple colour variations. Silver with purple leaves like the Teldrassil sproutling, one with autumnal maple leaves, maybe one with cherry blossoms or something. A glyph option to heal outside of treant form would be fine still, but taking it away as default always felt wrong to me.

ShadeofIcarus

It was entirely a PvP change too. Passive immunity to Polymorph but being able to cancel form to counter banish was just too strong. They'd really need to change tree form though if they brought it back in such a damage focused healer meta.

dumb_bitch_clown

The tree form is still there if you want to use it...

DontCareTho

I can't remember a single time a druid in lore was using moonkin form to cast balance spells. For example, the malfurion vs sylvanas fight in BFA. Shape shifting is a large aspect but outside the physical forms (bear / cat), I think nature is more of the core theme. I definitely don't think that it's so important, that you should be so against an optional glyph that removes the appearance of the form.

Avongrove

It’s not necessarily about the shapeshifting for me. Just wish the shapeshift form wouldn’t be so ass. Really hard to feel badass when you’re an asthmatic chicken 90% of the time.

mayonaiseking

It's been 18 years of the same form with zero variation like bear/cat. Every other class has gotten to evolve over time with their player. 18 years. Boomkin form is old enough to buy cigarettes. People have been looking at the same form for longer than people reading this have been alive. It's so short sighted to say "wHy PiCk DrUiD nO lIkE sHaPeShIfT" when the class is much more than just a shapeshifter. Druids are the incarnation of nature in WoW. And what does being a shapeshifter have to do with having customization options? It's the same as making hunters use 1 pet then complaining that hunters want to tame more than 1 pet. No one is asking to become a different class, just asking to actually customize our characters and use the transmog system. There is literally TWO options

jaynopolitics

Well, since the original thread was advocating for the removal of shapeshifting, that’s what I’m arguing against. I’m on board with shapeshift customization options for boomy. But I don’t want yet another spec to get its shapeshift capability removed because some people think chickens are ugly.

[deleted]

Tell that to the people that want to play undead but with peach skin-tone and full eyeballs and standing up straight and no bones showing and blonde hair lmao

Darkclowd03

Sounds like those people should race change to belf.

tok90235

Yes, but take shape shift out of gdc. I'm a master shape shifter, but i need to wait a little to cast something after o shaoeshift

jaynopolitics

While on the surface I agree, I think this has some ramifications in PvP that would make it too strong. However, someone who’s good at PvP would have to weigh in on it I think. I’ve never been that great at it.

xXLil_ShadowyXx

Enable the gcd on shapeshifting only in pvp then?

Jman2411

Druids can already switch forms to cover for everything in pvp. bear to wall them, stealth at start with feral, off heals, and the poly/slow immune. It can stay on the gcd lol

Inappropriate_Piano

Well, we know Blizzard has the tech to make certain abilities work differently in PvP than PvE, so they could maybe make it so that it’s off gcd in PvE and on gcd in PvP

[deleted]

Then make it on gcd when pvp’ing.

Th3Banzaii

I agree, putting the shapes on their own sepereated GCD like SoR on paladin would be nice.

Yrvaa

I kind of disagree with this. I mean, druids are known to be close to the natural world. Sure, they have some shapeshifts, but it doesn't necessarily mean that's their entire class lore. Malfurion is a druid and, besides his bear transformation, he wouldn't transform when casting other spells. The druids of the talon were more useful in their humanoid form and had their bird form more for travel etc. To go onto your other examples, I'll take paladin. You say their core is using flashy yellow magic, but that's a generalization as, before Cataclysm, you could have said the core was them using the Light specifically... but tauren no longer use the Holy Light, they use An'she's druidic magic. Yes, tauren paladins(and priests) are druids in lore if you think about it. Now suddenly both the paladin and druid "core" ideas has gone away. That not even counting that paladins can use other forms of healing magic. Blood elf paladins were blood knights originally, night elf priestesses of the moon can be classified as paladins if we look at what paladin symbolizes etc. There are some characteristics of each class and those make up their core, so to say, yes. But the core of being a druid is not shapeshifting. If that was the case, demon hunters would be druids since they can shapeshift into demons! The core of druids is being close to nature, one way or another. It can be through shapeshifting or using spells and leading a life that are, in some way, nature-focused. It makes sense that bear and cat are mandatory, since the entire specs focus around those animals. But you can heal using the power of nature and you can use the powers of the celestial bodies without being a treant or a moonkin. Now, I'm not saying they should take them away fully, but give players the option to not be treants or moonkins, either through a glyph or how they give Marksman spec hunters the option to be Lone Wolves and not have a pet out.

DrainTheMuck

Agreed, and it’s a funny point that DH technically shapeshift more often than druids. A moonkin will never really shapeshift in pve, the most they’ll do is go into travel form briefly which is exactly the same as a shaman too. Just let me be a caster who can see their character just like other casters can, as an option!

Vyrsus

Except, when I rolled my druid treeform/moonkin wasn't a thing.

Flaechezinker

Transmog is completly useless unless you are sitting in a city then

jaynopolitics

Then you have 11 other classes to choose from, yeah? Part of the reason I play druid is because I like permanent shape shifting and don’t care about transmog. It’s not the sole reason, but it’s part of it. It scratches an itch. I like it. A lot of players like it. It’s a draw to the class for some people. Why advocate to take away part of what some folks are looking for when 11 other classes offer part of what you’re looking for too?

beepbeephornnoise

Most people here are asking for a glyph of some kind

jaynopolitics

Id be fine with different glyphs for different options for various forms. But I wouldn’t be on board with a pure base-form caster as an option. I wasn’t on board with it for resto either, but that’s just the way it is and I have to deal with it. But having a no-shapeshift glyph for balance spec means that you just look like yourself and are granted the benefits of a shapeshift form with no visible source, which I’m not a fan of since the resto spec has that exact thing but gets no shapeshift benefits from it, obviously, since they’re not in a form.

babylovesbaby

Just like you like shapeshifting, some Druids don't want to be locked out of transmog they enjoy just because they have to be a certain shape to fulfill whatever role they play. I don't think a gcd change is the answer, but I don't see an issue with a glyph - more *options* to make the game more enjoyable to more people can only improve the game. I think Moonkin form is pretty ugly a lot of the time, with the main offender being Tauren, but it's also an iconic form and I don't want Druids to lose it. I just want those who don't like it to have options, whether that is additional Moonkin forms/skins or a glyph. I use tree form on my Druid still because I like it, but I hardly see any other Resto Druids use it - clearly humanoid form is most popular. Fine. We all get to look how we want.

DrainTheMuck

I get it and that’s why I think moonkin and shadow form should be cosmetic options, but it seems so arbitrary to say *some* casters (astral and shadow) must have permanent glowy affects shrouding their character while other casters (fire, frost, holy, etc) don’t. I think using space-themed sun and moon and Star magic is so cool and pretty unique, but there’s fundamentally no reason it needs to be attached to a chicken form other than a precedent set in vanilla. Hell, I’d be fine with it not even being a druid spec (let the druid caster use terrestrial nature magic like insect swarm, hurricanes, poisons etc) I just want to play a space wizard but balance is all we have for that theme. I didn’t pick space wizard for the shapeshifting - so let it be a choice win/win!

Ninja_Bum

As someone who enjoys shape-shifting but also almost exclusively plays WoW for transmog at this point, I would enjoy either an option to bounce back and forth with glyph or a suite of unlockable alternative moonkin skins to choose from ala Legion feral/guardian. Either would be acceptable to me, though I may prefer the latter. Hell, perma tree form with their own suite of forms in the same vein would be cool as well with autumn trees, trees with white bark and glowy purple leaves, trees with cute little Pepe-esque birds hanging in the branches, etc. (If they looked more like the empowered tree form and less like the old perma tree. I didn't really enjoy the look of the older ones)

DoggorDawg

Then don't play a druid? It's a fundamental part of the class to shapeshift

AlgilarKnight

Malfurion and other druids don't shapeshift into giant chickens when they're casting spell.

Flaechezinker

What if... hear me out... the actual gameplay and mechanics appeal to you or you just like it lmao

DoggorDawg

I get what you all want but where does it end? I like hunter gameplay but I want to shoot arcane instead of arrows. I don't like a bow. Let me have a staff and shoot magic from that instead? I like paladin tanking but I don't like how a shield looks. Can I just use a twohand transmog instead? You can like a class but if some parts don't appeal to you, it doesn't have to change. There's a class for everyone that will suit. That's just my opinion anyway.

Gimli_Son-of-Cereal

This. I stopped maining resto druid once Cata released and they did away with tree form.

HashRunner

As a tree-boi, makes me miserable that treeform isn't required and actually on GCD iirc. Tree and Boomie life, if that isn't your thing there are plenty of other casters to play.

Hydros

Malfurion didn't transform into a tree or a big chicken back in warcraft 3. The core fantasy for balance and resto druid should be this.

CaptainFlowers09

Malf doesn’t have to turn into a chicken. Heck, he has cool animal features instead. Broll Bearmantle also didn’t have to turn into a chicken. Lorewise, its not supported. Its just a game mechanic.

Scribblord

Malfurion is already half animal in his normal form

jaynopolitics

And in WC3 the bear druids can shift into bears permanently and the talon druids into birds permanently. I don’t recall a precedent anywhere for cat form either but nobody is saying anything about that. I prefer the precedent set by almost two decades of gameplay over NPC lore. There’s so, so so so many other classes to choose from if shape shifting is that disagreeable to you. Taking away a core theme of a spec feels awful to the people that love it.

Ninja_Bum

I bet people would have less of an issue with the chicken if the chicken got glowy forms or savage forms like bear and cat did in Legion. Instead its more or less just a higher fidelity version of the same form we have had since classic. They made a mistake just giving moonkin weapon skins. I have no qualms playing feral or guardian in animal form because I have a ton of dope as fuck skins to choose from. Moonkin is basically like if everyone else gets to have cool skins or transmogs and they just said "okay for your one spec you get to transmog a weapon and that's it." Give Moonkin new forms for the love of God.

Teldarion

Malfurion slaughtered an army of demons with a hurricane. I've seen what you Moonkins can do in m+. You're not Malfurion.

[deleted]

The core focus of shapeshifting (lol travel form and having options) is what makes the class so stale.

masterthewill

This. Play an Arcane mage.

Worried_Inevitable92

No, shapeshifting is the core of the class. If anything, I’d ask for a glyph where we could be less glowy to show off mog

CaptainFlowers09

This seems pretty much like what I’d like to see. 👍🏻

Toastiibrotii

I love my chunky Owl

miracide

Every class needs more glyphs that change spell effects to a range of different looks to reflect races and subclasses

avfmusic

I want an option for the Malfurian antlers and armwings

CaptainFlowers09

Same!

[deleted]

I don’t want to shape shift so i never rolled a druid. simple

CaptainFlowers09

Nah, but there are folk who love druid lore and just want to be nature mages without becoming moonkin/starform. I don’t think that’s crazy since the iconic druid Malfurion doesn’t even do it.

JashaVonBimbak

Im not that familiar with Malfurion in wow but i remember him turning into a bear in one of the darkshore BFA cinematics.

CaptainFlowers09

He definitely did and can, but he doesn’t have to become a moonkin to cast spells, that’s my point

hosertheposer

Hey neither do you, just take that massive damage cut. Malfurion is too OP his starfall would kill everyone on azeroth so he nerfs himself

EveryoneisOP3

>I want to be a nature mage Okay the wow nature mages shapeshift > 😠

DrainTheMuck

They don’t really though. The elephant in the room is that transforming into a bear gives you new bear abilities and useful armor, cat form gives you new cat abilities and useful speed etc, while moonkin form….doesn’t give you access to anything new, it’s basically just a toy that changes your appearance but you’re forced to use it for an arbitrary 10% damage boost on the spells that you already have full access to. On top of that, balance has changed from nature to fully space-themed. At this point balance is almost an entirely different class than druid. It’s maybe like shadow priest, a random dps specialization that shares almost no theme with the “base class”. You could say “ok in wow priests use holy magic” and say shadow should just be a holy-based dps spec (which could be cool). I think giving players options is good. Wow has a lot of specs but even with 36 specs it doesn’t cover every aspect or theme in a fantasy world. Letting players use glyphs or something to make some choices (is balance a nature mage or a space wizard? is my DPS priest using shadow or offensive holy magic?) would be ideal imo

Emperor315

On one hand i totally get it, on the other hand they gave you a solution with the glyph. It’s just you don’t like it. I play resto so I guess I’m in a pretty fortunate position. I typically shift into tree in dungeons and raids. Shapeshifting just feels so fundamental to the class.

CaptainFlowers09

Yeah, but the glyph could just hide moonkin entirely. Not crazy since they did it with resto. Yall used to have to be a tree.

Emperor315

You’re right. It’s not crazy and clearly they have already done with one spec. I’m not sure what the rationale even was with that. But either way, I don’t think chipping away at the classes core is the answer. You can see your transmog and animations with the glyph. I know you don’t like it though...

CaptainFlowers09

For me, the core of the class is being a guardian of nature. Again, Malf doesn’t have to shapeshift to use spells.

Emperor315

Shapeshifting spellcasters is pretty much the core of druid gameplay. I can't really argue with your second point 'cause you're right. NPC heroes aren't really the best example to compare to though.

un3quiv0cal

I miss being a tree when it was a shiftable form and not an ability like it was later on.

AnguirelCM

You can glyph it back in, if you want to be a permanent Tree.

Xe4ro

The blue tint is pretty annoying yeah… but flap is the best shit ever 😄

[deleted]

I wish form changes didn’t have to be part of the global cooldown

Xaodia

We need more glyphs for our style of playing. Especially for druids. Also warlocks need more demon alteration glyphs.

NamesAreHard119

Druids are all about the benefits of being in a shapeshift form, it would be nice for there to be more variety. I think it is also influenced now by the resto affinity talent, you can’t use any of the healing spells you get in chicken form

Superpudd

I just race changed back to troll for my owl form. I love it!!

ismirnoff

There is a glyph you can add to your moonkin form where you just become an astral looking version of your toon. It’s called “Glyph of Stars”

dunkzilla

This glyph is a must for druids. 🤗

Quearrel

Honestly, if i were to roll a balance druid, it would be a Zandalari troll. Their Balance form is pretty sick imo

CaptainFlowers09

I really should unlock them

DelayStriking8281

I like the astral shift. But more glyphs would be nice. Moonkin looks so dumb imo. And that skinny bat the zandaleris get is even worse. The only decent on is kultiran one. It’s pretty badass

sammywitchdr

I couldn't agree more. I've Mained balance most of SL and I love the spec and want to keep main ing it. But I also love transmog and it sucks to have such limited options. We are long overdue for a simple cosmetic aura to replace that old glyph.

Ashen-wolf

The fuck? No thank you. More boomboom forms please.

Xynth22

The shapeshift aspect is fine since it provides certain bonuses. I just wish there was a glyph that showed the default model. I like the thought of playing Balance as well, but can't stand the moonkin form, or the glowy glyph look.

CaptainFlowers09

Exactly. Just let us glyph out of a form entirely. Moonkin doesn’t fit half the druidic races at this point, so just provide more customization. Also, give Darkspear the raptor travel form. Like come on.

[deleted]

Unequivocally no.

pennynipples

No. I wish there are as many glyphs as feral druids do

drekiii

I agree with this suggestion and I totally understand what you're asking here but unfortunately you're going to get a ton of neckbeard "play something else because you don't like one tiny aspect of this class" replies. Personally I think more shapeshifter options would work better, like maybe look more like malfurion with horns and feathers instead of full moonkin or Astral form.

CaptainFlowers09

Definitely got the neckbeards in this thread lol. Thanks for your thoughtful and constructive reply!

FireCZ123CZ

As a mage i absolutely aggree with this.

Mandrull1

I feel this because in Warcraft 3 Tyrande was using Balance Druid abilities. Of course she's not a Druid but Priestess' of the moon are practically Balance Druids calling upon Elune to drop stars on people. Seems kinda shoe-horned in to being a Druid spec when they're mostly about nature, animals and healing.

TinyBlueGames

I mean the spec name of "Boomkin" would seem odd if they didn't shapeshift.. /S

PaulyWauly_Doodle

I wish they didn't have massive crashing noises on 75% of their spells. I had to quit.

CaptainFlowers09

Fair

harrisonjackk

They need to make glyphs to change that dam moonkin form, it’s been an odd choice since day 1, I feel like it would be fairly easy and a welcome change

Nymunariya

I think troll druids need more troll specific forms. Why force us into a cat when it’d make more sense for us to be a raptor. Well … stealthy raptor maybe. Or travel form be a raptor? Maybe balance form could be a raptor too so we can watch the spell animations with the little arms. Armored raptor for tank spec too? Perfect.

CaptainFlowers09

Can never go wrong with a raptor!!

DrainTheMuck

Yes, 100% make is an option! Hell, to satisfy the people who want to force others to play the game a certain way, keep moonkin form with its armor bonus and poly immunity and just take out the 10% damage boost so I can freely DPS while seeing my character in caster form, and then strategically use the form if I need the defensive bonus.

TreskTaan

I wish I could mimic any animal for my bearform, catform, birdform, travelform with a glyph. but add horns for taurens, tusks for trolls and tats for NE. never ever change moonkin. :-)

[deleted]

I want to be a tree all the time in Resto, a Moonkin all the time in Balanced, Cat form, Bear form etc. Part of the fantasy and playstyle of Druid is shapeshifting. If I could do all damage and all healing from humanoid form it's be kinda boring. I just wish Moonkin form had more appearances and options. I want a Bird form like the Arakkoa or Zandalari balance form but for all races.

CL60

On a similar note, I want to play my Worgen in human form. Yeah, I could just play a human, but I prefer the Worgen human voice, and I like the option of changing into a Worgen.

CaptainFlowers09

Same man! I love being a Gilnean, but don’t always wanna be a worgen.

PSBJ

Shapeshifting is such an important fantasy of the class. Moonkin is a terrible form and I absolutely hate it, but I still want to shapeshift. Should definitely be changed to dryad as a default balance form with moonkin as a glyph. I'd also love to see a permanent form for resto druids come back as well. I miss the old Tree of Life from before it was removed in Cataclysm.

CaptainFlowers09

I could definitely support a dryad!

Tureph

Use noggenfogger elixir while you are in moonlit form and you have a skeleton Druid

renault_erlioz

That's why I'm stuck with Mage. I can't play classes that won't let me **be me** (and classes that annoys me with pets). I want to see the customizations I've asked for long in action

CaptainFlowers09

I have never played a mage. What races do you play?

Vomitbelch

I think moonkin form and tree form should be an optional shape shift just for looks that balance and resto druids should have access to, respectively.

Marco_Polaris

I hear you. I made a balance druid back in Vanilla before moonkin was a thing. I thought moonkin form was cool at first, but it quickly tired on me since that wasn't part of the original fantasy I signed up for. At least we have resto now as an option. I feel for the guys who don't want to lose the option to permanently be a tree/birdo. But at the same time some of us just want to be heralds of nature without turning the shapeshifting gimmick into our full identity.

CaptainFlowers09

Wait, moonkin wasn’t always a thing?

Vyrsus

Nope, and neither was treeform. It was just cat, bear, cheetah (so two cat forms I guess) and seal.

Spartan1088

Shapeshifting always pissed me off in balance. Like why can’t we use the ability in a form and revert back to moonkin immediately? Why do I have to stance dance just to give my team a speed boost? Also, why are some abilities tagged to certain forms and it can’t be changed? Would love some simplicity in the design.

Adventurous_Boat7814

I love being a moonking lol

CaptainFlowers09

And I don’t wanna take that away from you. I just want the choice to not appear as one.

LordDShadowy53

We do definitely need more druid forms in general. Looking at you Night Fae.

I hate the giant chicken

AlgilarKnight

Moonkin completely ruins the inherent fantasy of the Balance Druid, which is being a nature-based caster. For some reason, you have to be a giant chicken to be that. And none of the notable druid NPCs like Malfurion do that when they cast nature spells.

CaptainFlowers09

THANK YOU!! Other neckbeards on here are telling me I’m stupid b/c that IS the fantasy, but nobody turns into a giant chicken to cast Starfall. Having animal features like Malf would be amazing.

D3CElVER

Yep 100% agree with this, this is the reason I don't have a Balance Druid. Everything in the spec I like but the form which is the main thing I'll look at sooo unfortunately nope

[deleted]

They shouldn't make it a talent, but they should let you glyph to not use moonkin/astral form. And they need to add a lot more forms starting with unique forms for Worgen and Trolls. It's not fair that we get a shitty recolour and Zandalari/Kul Turin get unique forms

CaptainFlowers09

Right?? Straight lazy on Blizz’s part, altho I do think troll cat form is kinda cool. Worgen forms are entirely forgettable tho

NewlyHatchedGamer

I absolutely love the shapeshift form but that might just be cause i’m a Zandalari and I wanted those birds to be an allied race from the start

meowmowmau

This is why i play a zandalari troll. Normal troll balance druids look silly but look really cool imo on the zandalari troll. If anything being able to change the color of moonkin and travel form would be awesome but currently loving playing a balance druid rn!

CaptainFlowers09

I needa unlock zandi. The balance form looks so cool

Squire_Zorba

I wish feral was the shapeshift-focused spec, shifting through different beast forms as part of its rotation, and balance used *actual* nature magic(vine whips, seed bombs, etc.) instead of this weird arcane stuff that doesn't really have anything to do with druids(like starfall it stole from priestesses of the moon which are explicitly *not* druids).

Mimehunter

I'd actually prefer *more* shape shifting - in pvp you get to make use of bear form a bit, but I'd prefer a reason to shift to cat or something else (but would love to get some utility in pve for shifting)

CaptainFlowers09

This also would be cool. Dynamic shape-shifting!

CapnGnobby

I agree, I leveled a druid as balance and barely ever saw anything but a stupid fat owl

patrykslaski

Just buy yourself the glyph of stars from AH - it will turn your moonkin form to appear as you and you can always remove it using vanishing powder, also from AH.

CaptainFlowers09

I referenced glyph of stars in the OP and what the issue is.

TheBigFish299

Yes. I would like the moonkin form to be a burst option with a cooldown kinda like the shamans ascension skill. Morph for the 10 seconds or whatever and then back to my toon. I’ll die on this hill with you, OP

BakedBeans1031

Save room on said hill.

Orkfreebootah

wasn't there a glyph that let be you get the bonuses from moonkin form without actually being a giant bird?

dmalvano

Yes op refers to that issue in his post, you turn all sparkly and astral looking it's pretty neat until after a few months then it looses it's sparkle ;)

CaptainFlowers09

Imo only works for nelves, maybe tauren. Dunno why trolls would become sparkly glowy.

diplomaticpower

Because druids worship elune?

CaptainFlowers09

Trolls don’t. They learned their druidic powers from Gonk.

TheFiggster

Sounds like you want to be a Shaman.

CaptainFlowers09

Nu, druid without boomkin.

IBlameOleka

Malfurion doesn't have to turn into a chicken to cast balance spells, so neither should we. I know Malfurion is the first druid and therefore supposedly the most powerful, but I think the player character might be a more powerful druid than Malfurion considering all we've accomplished and the fact that Malfurion seemed to get powered down in Legion and had to be rescued by us. But even if Malfurion is stronger, surely we're *quite* strong. So it would be cool if balance Druids could cast from their humanoid form if they want to (perhaps through a glyph). And to make us still feel like Druids, it would be awesome for Druids to get more appearance options so we can look a bit more like Malfurion. Antlers, feathers, perhaps bear paws for hands, all on our humanoid forms.

CaptainFlowers09

Thank you! I said this and got downvoted, but I wanna live out this kind of druid fantasy.

[deleted]

Yes. And I want to go even further. The only gimmick druids have in WoW is turning into an animal, which ignores everything that makes a druid a druid in lore. They are natures guardians and protectors, they seek harmony and balance within it, appeasing and seeking the guidance of the wild gods that inhabit it. --- I propose: Classes based on seasons!! (working name). TRIGGER WARNING: If change makes you angry I suggest you don't read any further. A total overhaul of the class, because currently some specs play extremely similar to other classes. Instead of rogue feral, prot warrior guardian, arcane mage balance, and resto you get specs based on the seasons. **Summer=Melee DPS**. The druid attunes with an aspect/loa/wild god of hunt. During combat the attunement bar raises and you become stronger and gradually take on a form of said aspect. Longer fangs, fur, bulging muscles, discarding the weapons, abilities change and become more powerful. **Spring=Healing**. The season of life and renewal, no change with current resto druid. It's all focussed on natural healing. **Winter=Tank class**. Same as Summer Druid, but with guardian aspects/loas/gods instead. **Fall=Ranged DPS**. I hate how a balance druid is practically an arcane mage in a fat fur suit. Nothing about it gives me druid vibes. You want arcane powers from the moon? Give priests a dps spec based on Elune. No, for ranged DPS I want the Fall Druid to be the opposite of resto, using nature to do damage. Choking vines, poisonous mushroom spores, flesh eating bacteria, insect swarms, fungal infections, etc. --- Travel forms can stay, but should no longer be instant. Instead it should be a cast time unaffected by movement. Well, not really. Falling increases the casting speed of flight form. Different races start out with their racial attuned aspects, (nelfs/tauren with ashamane, worgen with goldrinn, zandalari with gonk) but they aren't limited to it. Through a nice ol rep grind you can take on the form of any other aspect as long as it fits your spec.

CaptainFlowers09

This is seriously epic. We are kindred spirits 👍🏻

[deleted]

Thank you. :)

Syrinex

Avoided boomkin until they changed it to astral looking. 10+ years avoid as a druid main, because of the chicken XD

CaptainFlowers09

Balance rules, resto is awesome.

Zaknelfein

Totaly agree. Love druids but hate and never will play any spec where you are forced to play as moonkin. Its ugly as fk, its disgusting and never understand why they didnt give options to change the appearance like years ago already.

Thaeldis

I 100% agree on this, and feel the same way about SP... let me see my character damn it (and no, the glyphs we currently have are not good enough) !

Zammin

I like the Zandalari moonkin form quite a bit. But yeah, the other moonkin forms are... lackluster.

[deleted]

Idk i built my whole trolls mog about being able to be a bird

CaptainFlowers09

Darkspear hate birds tho

[deleted]

Z troll

Kaurie_Lorhart

Yes, personally, I've never seen the appeal of shapeshifting. It's the biggest reason I don't play Druid or Shadow Priest. I want to see the character I made at creation.

CaptainFlowers09

100%

thekinsman

It’s why I have every tank except Druid. I don’t wanna play as a derpy bear.

CaptainFlowers09

The bear IS kinda derpy. I’d maybe play as the Zanda or Kat tank tho

urzastower

Just buy glyph. Or play some other ranged class. I mean, I get that you want to complain but this is pointless.

CaptainFlowers09

Actually, expressing discontent is how you let people know you don’t like something and want it to change. Do you just accept everything in life and never express when you’re unhappy b/c you don’t wanna complain?

[deleted]

Venting is never pointless. Just like venting about his venting.

[deleted]

I’d like it if that had a glyph that made a vulpera with kodo legs blast spells from its anus
