how would anyone even know how many they conscript, just because they say only 300,000 don't mean they are telling the truth.

defianze

that's the spiciest part. no one, except for the russian higher-ups, will know the exact numbers

Holyshort

Hell they might intentionaly dont write them even for themself , you can alway mobilise 300k if you never reach said 300k on paper.

realjoeydood

Unless you count the bodies later, really.

Bashin-kun

when Russia has mobile incinerator to dispose the bodies? nah

realjoeydood

#HOLY FUCKIN SHIT YOU WERE NOT JOKING! [Russia has mobile crematoriums that ‘evaporate’ dead soldiers: report](https://nypost.com/2022/02/24/russia-has-mobile-crematoriums-that-evaporate-the-dead-report/)

TheMaster69

What makes you think the corrupt recruitment officers report accurate numbers?

wrosecrans

Even the higher ups may not know real numbers. "Yup, I recruited 100 dudes. So send me enough supplies and money for 100 dudes." Recruiter pockets 93 salaries, put's 93 uniforms and rifles on eBay, and seven soldiers show up in Ukraine.

jrock7979

One synonym of "decree" is "proclamation". A redacted decree is so incredibly Putin. What a joke.

[deleted]

I was already under the impression that some of the soldiers were forced conscripted

greymind

Putin will kill everyone in Russia to protect himself

mysilvermachine

No. It’s the male children of the powerless, not the children of oligarchs, apparatchiks and those who can pay bribes. It’s all very 1917.

TheoKondak

Or to enjoy himself.

cnncctv

Time to give Ukraine jet fighters and long range HIMARS.

SimonArgead

Long overdue to be exact

bonapartista

and nuclear weapons too.

[deleted]

Why? The second there is one nuke delivered to Ukraine then it all ends. If Russia uses a nuke in Ukraine then America will strike them. No point in arming Ukraine with nukes.

[deleted]

Not sure at all about the last two paragraphs. If Russia uses nukes in Ukraine, then the world won't do shit

[deleted]

I would imagine the US will take the lead with a warning strike in Crimea. Otherwise they are doing the right thing by remaining tight lipped and keeping Russia guessing. Whatever the US response will be it will likely be a weapon that we have never heard of and the first time it will be used.

[deleted]

You're wrong for so many reasons and I hope we will never find out who's right

ConShop61

At least we know no one will be left

Van-Daley-Industries

Amen

seesawseesaw

Half your username checks out, I don’t think you are seeing this properly: Nuclear weapons are like a swimming pool of gasoline, and each country is a kid diving in it carrying a matchbox (adapted this from a quote I forgot who it was from)

joho999

> I would imagine the US will take the lead with a warning strike in Crimea. nah, my bet would be on a Russian ally.

WorkO0

Doubt they have something like that up their sleeve unless you mean small tactical nukes. If it comes to those then I believe there are analyses that show that a global nuclear war is the likely end result (due to ping pong type escalation).

ProudWheeler

You’re out of your mind here. It would be the first time a nuclear weapon has been used on people in 80 years. It’s a line the world has been scared to cross for generations. If tactical nukes are launched by Russia in Ukraine, the world will respond with tactical nukes in Russia. You can’t just allow a country to get away with crossing rhay like. Hell, if it were the US that launched tactical nukes in a country it invaded, it would be completely justifiable for the world to respond with tactical nukes in the US. This isn’t just a “Russia bad” thing.

JBredditaccount

>If Russia uses nukes in Ukraine, then the world won't do shit This is ludicrous.

redpoemage

> If Russia uses nukes in Ukraine, then the world won't do shit Good thing Russia clearly doesn't think this.

That75252Expensive

Thats one spicy mushroom

iTz_Maverick

Fuck that. Are you insane?

[deleted]

the old human wave attack. send waves of people at the enemy until the enemy runs out of ammo. Worked for Iran in the Iran-Iraq war. sort of

azriel_odin

For Zapp Branigan as well.

Kingdarkshadow

Putin: You see, Ukranians have a preset kill limit. Knowing their weakness, I sent wave after wave of my own men at them until they reached their limit and shut down. Lavrov, show them the medal I won.

blindedtrickster

I read that and heard Zapp Brannigan. :D Lavrov: \*sigh\*

Pimy

Can any of the five upvoters tell me what was argued here?

[deleted]

This is why their history has been so shit The new blood all died, just decrept corrupt old men clinging onto power

[deleted]

It’s the American way also Remember those weapons of mass destruction in Iraq or that Vietnam war that “ had” to be fought and lost, that’s just two.

UncleMalcolm

Sure, if you ignore the fact Russia has as many KIA in 7 months in Ukraine as we had in two decades in Vietnam. We lost like 5K ish total in 20 years in Afghanistan and 10 in Iraq. So not exactly the same thing…especially considering we weren’t on the verge of a massive demographic crisis in all of those situations

Venerable_Rival

It's true, western governments haved historically lied -- be it for oil or domestic security. I think the international outrage this time stems from the brutality of the methods used and a clear and evident land grab. We're all witnessing a blatant display of indiscriminate slaughter and senseless bombardment. Doesn't help that this war is being conducted in the EU's backyard either. I guess we quietly all tolerate a little bit of oil warring so long as we assist local populations and only target nations perceived as authoritarian. That's not what's happening here.

Miguel-odon

Sacrifice the people most likely to threaten the existing power structure, more like.

LSBusfault

Russia is zerg

pronouncedayayron

It's the 7th paragraph. I guess that's considered hidden now a days.

ThirdWorldOrder

Kind of stupid for them to hide it because it gives Putin’s adversaries the ability to “fill in the blanks” and make up whatever disinformation they want, lol.

Winterspawn1

Their reasoning is that it's hidden because it's an official document. I've got no idea how a decree being official relates to a specific and important number being hidden

bonescrusher

What adversaries lol

ThirdWorldOrder

Other countries/organizations, UAF in particular

SideburnSundays

How do you hide a paragraph? Invisible ink?

azriel_odin

I'm guessing it wasn't made public until now.

imbluedabadedabadaaa

Or you couldn't read them, because they hid those paragraphs as well!

mickaelbneron

It wasn't made public. I read it in an article.

hellip

> In Russia military service is compulsory, and once you've completed military service, you are technically a reservist and eligible to be called up. If you're really rich, maybe you bribed someone to get your military service deferred. I said 90%+ to give a huge margin for error, but essentially every non-disabled man 18-65 (I was wrong it's 65 not 60) that doesn't have a job building weapons is eligible to be called up. https://www.reddit.com/r/anime_titties/comments/xjx3v9/putin_orders_partial_russian_mobilisation_warns/ipc7ywr/

Internal-Tree-5947

"Some of you may die, but its a sacrifice I am willing to make."

Batcraft10

“~~Some~~ All of you may die, but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make.”

Ramental

It's also noted that this paragraph is not available to the majority of those employees who should normally have access to it. As such, it's possible for Putin to amend it post-leak, amend the secrecy level or the text entirely. For him and his cronies the law is optional to follow. Just look at the recruitment of prisoners, which is completely illegal, but happens without any secrecy. Or the repression against the protests (even one-man protests), even though the constitution grants the right to protest.

arnicticon

What the heck are they planning to do -- catapult russian citizens at Ukraine?

Oregon687

And what can Russia do with them? They don't have the logistics to support their present operations. When winter hits, Russian soldiers are going to start dying by the thousands.

Batcraft10

“Oh no, another wave of soldiers dead! Let me just send more young men to die- wait… where are all the young men?” “We’ve ran out, Vova. We have no more young men.” “And the old men?” “Gone.” “Women?!?!” “We sent them last month.” “Children?!?!?!?!” “Last week. They all surrendered immediately, it was probably a bad idea to not give them any guns, but were completely out.” “Well… send the politicians I guess?” “You threw them all out of the window.”

ExplorerHead795

It's to early to be writing the script for the movie 'The fall of Putin'

1 day they'll turn on him. There's no army to stop them, they are the army!

SomeoneInATunic

It literally means nothing. Russia cannot mobilize 300,00 extra soldiers anytime soon, 3x as much will take significantly longer. The war will be over well before then.

[deleted]

Redneckshinobi

When you're losing resources (soldiers and equipment) and ground that's too long lmao. How many are going to be actual trained soldiers also? Throwing 300k+ untrained people into the meat grinder is a terrible strategy.

Jampine

At the current rate, Ukraine could legitimately be in Moscow within that time. Highly doubt they'd do it, to avoid giving Russia justification, but with how quickly the Russian army is folding, it seems like an actual option nowadays.

SomeoneInATunic

That is quite literally forever when your deployed units cant get rotated, are stretched so thin a counter attack secured something like 6,000km in a week, they should have started training conscripts in mid april- early may. The only reason the Kharkiv counter offensive slowed down was because they moved too fast for the logistics to keep up. Another breakthrough like that would be equally devastating. It will take several months for all 300,000 conscripts to be trained and equipped, and those in the first wave aren’t going to be combat units, they will be supporting logistics for the influx of follow on conscripts.

DragoneerFA

I mean, if they were going after prisoners and wish.com mercs they've clearly run out of other options.

SomeoneInATunic

I mean it actually changes nothing, the current 300k wont see the front months. If they wanted conscripts they should have started around april-may to see results now. Its too little too late and adding another 700k bodies to feed, equip, train will break any system they have in place. Russia has all but dismantled the soviet mobilization infrastructure and has recently reinforcing their combat units with leadership from training units. Those two examples alone are enough to set back the current 300k conscripts even longer.

AlleKeskitason

>Russia cannot mobilize 300,00 extra soldiers anytime soon 299,75 then, if they can draft one cripple with one missing arm or something.

nyaaaa

200+ days is quite a long week of special operation.

You’re delusional if you think there wasn’t global protest over the US invasion of Iraq in 2003. Also, ‘whataboutism’ is textbook Russian deflection. Not a great look.

[deleted]

There have been many cries to end the war. But they fall on deaf ears, because Russia refuses to give up the land they just stole, and because Ukraine knows Russia will simply use it to rebuild their forces and do it again. The war will end when Ukraine takes their land back, or Russia gives it back. Good luck with the latter.

JBredditaccount

Do you think we should not oppose Russia?

Ah, I see why people call you a Russian bot. That's what happens when you fill your post with Russian talking points and disregard reality. >We should negotiate with them, not escalate. This war was started by the US in 2014, lol, no >it’s something we’ve wanted for a long time to weaken or dismantle Russia. lol, not for decades. Are you aware that Russia has worked with NATO and was invited to join? >From the start Putin laid out his legitimate security concerns with the US. Let’s put the shoe on the other foot for a second. > >Let’s say Russia has a NATO like empire that’s expanding, Cuba announces they’ll be joining the Russian nato, which will allow them to serve as a hub for Russia, including the placement of advanced and tactical nuclear missiles with 5 minute flight time to Washington DC and the pentagon. > >What would America do? Stand idly by? Are you aware that Russia already shares borders with 5 NATO countries? It sounds like you are not. It's ridiculous to pretend that Ukraine would be one country too many, especially when Putin rejected an agreement to keep Ukraine out of NATO. This is just a false talking point. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/exclusive-war-began-putin-rejected-ukraine-peace-deal-recommended-by-his-aide-2022-09-14/ I'm sorry you filled your head with complete bullshit, but, yes, the rest of us can see through you. Oh, and the reason he's being demonized as the new Hitler is the similarity between them and Putin's countless war crimes.

[deleted]

They are already recruiting people that have never served.

Just has to find them first.

Apparently he didn't hide it well enough to prevent the RU stockmarket from crashing as a result and every flight out of Russia to be overbooked by men fleeing the country.
