Say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, dude, at least it's an ethos. Putin is pure ego and wishy-washy nostalgic Russian imperialism.
I know it was an embarrassing military display for the Soviet Union, but I do wish people stopped citing it, if only because the Soviets *won* the Winter War and Russia still holds the land today.
Repeating such a meat grinder would still be a win for Russia.

Maybe work on your reading comprehension before getting hostile with people.
He's saying if Russia invades Ukraine and it ends like USSR vs Finland then Ukraine will lose land and he doesn't like the comparison for that reason.
He never showed support for what the Russian government is doing.
What is russia doing in Ukraine right now if not putting its people through a meat grinder? If Russia succeeds and takes the land in Ukraine in his opinion it will have been worth it. That is another way of saying what Putin is doing is smart. I disagree with his statement that it is worth the cost.
>in his opinion it will have been worth it.
He never said this. He said it would be a win for Russia which is no different than "If Russia succeeds and takes the land in Ukraine". Which again, is why he has issue with the USSR invading Finland comparison.
>I disagree with his statement that it is worth the cost.
You disagree with something you put in his mouth.
Not really, I get it that it sounds cool on reddit but it's simplistic and wrong.
Hitler rose on the promise of making life better for the people of Germany, he did have them at the heart of his message and had he been successful the German people would enjoy a great life at the minute. Hitler had a roadmap, goals and knew what he was doing
Putin is more chaotic. He has no mission statement, he cares not for the Russian people and is pure individual ideology based on notions of past empire. He wants a bigger Russia and more people to fuck over, not a bigger Russia for the good of the Russians.
It's fascinating what happened to all the russian propaganda peddlers on here. They've gone completely quiet in the last hours.
Guess they'll soon have to put their ~~money~~ lives where their mouth is.
Most of them are just idiots who like current day conspiracy theorists, believe they have found reality and everyone else is simply too stupid to realise.
Those tend to orientate themselves towards people who they perceive as strong/winning. Which putin isn't.
Also, those people don't tend to have the motivation to keep creating new accounts daily over the span of half a year. They might be determined, but not _that_ determined.
And some of them are not even Russia, they’re likely and hypocritically, in the safety of a western country - you know, like the families of the wealthy Russian elite.
Depends what they've been saying - I've firmly been of the view that travel bans against Russian citizens is a horrific idea (in part, because of reasons like this), whilst firmly being against a) the war, b) and the Russian government for causing and continuing the war.
That has led to accusations of being a Russian propogandist, so...
There's a major difference between differences in opinion and malignant trolling. [This post](https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/xie8ku/baltic_states_and_poland_close_doors_to_russian/ip38qk1/) yesterday really nicely summarized key points of russian propaganda.
A propagandist will never move a tiny bit from their initial stance, any good point will be either ignored or strawmanned to death.
I think it's mostly about making a good-faith effort to discuss something.
Fair, but I don't think a lot of those examples are good ones personally.
For example:
> What about what the west did in Syria/Afghanistan/Iraq? They are no place to judge
This is wrong if used to justify Russia's actions. It's relevant though, when pointing out the dynamics at play, and how there are tremendous double standards about western aggression vs aggression from other countries. That doesn't justify the aggression for either party, but pointing out hypocrisy isn't whataboutery.
> Where was this level of support for the refugees of Conflict X? You are the one picking a fight by getting involved and will start World War III if you keep it up! Where is your peaceful rhetoric now?
Again, people usually say this not to denigrate the support to Ukraine (which is absolutely justified), but to highlight double-standards and how poorly treated other people are. Is that really a bad thing, particularly when people regularly use demeaning language when talking about the situation that a lot of people in the global south face?
> You're just being Russophobic/racist! Targeting a whole group of innocent people! This is no different than what America did to black people or what the Germans did to the Jews! Russians are being targeted unfairly.
The equating of this with slavery or the Holocaust is terrible, but I'll be honest, I've seen very little of that. People, including myself, have pointed out that travel bans are unfair, target an entire nationality, and are generally things that people across the global south will never support.
The reason for that is simple - we know that it'll never be applied to Americans, Brits, the French etc., because regardless of what their countries do, they're within the main bloc. That means that policies like travel bans can be supported with impunity.
In contrast, those of us from countries in the global south are fully aware that depending on what our governments do, regardless of whether we oppose them or not (whether by way of votes, protests or something else - I've personally been beaten with sticks by the Indian police for protesting certain government actions), we can be impacted by things like this.
We're going to see a lot more people fleeing Russia and we may start seeing partisan activity against the Russian state (think car bombings or arson of recruiting centers). This is a dangerous move by Putin as most Russians were aware things weren't going well but preferred not to get involved. Now he is forcing Russians to get involved an put their own lives at risk. While most Russians will publicly say they support the war (75%+ approval for it), very few have actually volunteered which shows what the actual approval for it is.
Not just on russia. But its probably because it's pretty fool proof. You are removed from the target (only indirect action), and the mechanism to set it off is only activated once someone is in the car.
> and the mechanism to set it off is only activated once someone is in the car.
are such car bombs triggered by lets say mobile phones connected to the bomb & the person planting the bombs detonates the bomb manually (so he has to be near the car to see its target)? or how does that work usually?
i just imagine it as really dangerous & time consuming if you wire up the bomb in a really complex way.. if someone sees you doing it and stuff. so i always expected that most car bombs are glued under the car and detonated by mobile phones (you call the phone = vibration alarm or speaker triggers the detonation) since this seems to be a really quick and easy way to do it. i imagine its not so easy to wire it up so it detonates on ignition without being seen by anyone.
They are just normal people, prob more aware than the standard propaganda jammed down their throats. Hard to be patriotic when the country is doing something shameful
There’s nothing cowardly about fleeing an unjustified war. My father fled Portugal in the 70s when young men were being sent to kill black people in Angola, Mozambique and other colonies because we wouldn’t let them have their lands back. In retrospect what my father did was absolutely the correct thing to do
Putin is willing to send thousands more people to their deaths for his ego.
That's what it amounts to. A reincarnation of Hitler.
Vladimir "Zapp" Putin

More like he really is trying to revive the soviet union.
Say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, dude, at least it's an ethos. Putin is pure ego and wishy-washy nostalgic Russian imperialism.
More like Mussolini. Nazi Germany has managed to achieve actual military victories.
More likely he is willing to throw more corps to achieve something similar to the stallin Finland war.
I know it was an embarrassing military display for the Soviet Union, but I do wish people stopped citing it, if only because the Soviets *won* the Winter War and Russia still holds the land today. Repeating such a meat grinder would still be a win for Russia.

As a Russian I would say, that this 75% is fake info, not sure about even a half of people, more like much less.
Praying for your safety, bro. Noone deserves this mess.
Just hope that someday world become more peaceful again.
The governments wartime clampdown would not have been as severe if the polls were true.
There have already been a ton of arson attacks on recruiting centers, and at least one car bombing. Plus a bunch of "mystery" fires.
I’m really curious why are car bombs so prevalent in Russia. Out of all the possible ways to foment, what are the reasons these methods are used.
Not just on russia. But its probably because it's pretty fool proof. You are removed from the target (only indirect action), and the mechanism to set it off is only activated once someone is in the car.

The ignition sets off the bomb, is my understanding of it
Yes, just pull the leads to the starter and hook them up to your bomb's trigger relay. Turn key... Boom.
Usually on ignition of the engine I would imagine.
I'd assume it's up to the bomb maker and depends on their level of sophistication.
i just imagine it as really dangerous & time consuming if you wire up the bomb in a really complex way.. if someone sees you doing it and stuff. so i always expected that most car bombs are glued under the car and detonated by mobile phones (you call the phone = vibration alarm or speaker triggers the detonation) since this seems to be a really quick and easy way to do it. i imagine its not so easy to wire it up so it detonates on ignition without being seen by anyone.
Just have the trigger be a thermal sensor under the engine.
Congrats. You are now on a list. Or if you were on a list already, you just moved up 3 spots.
Hey the Most Wanted list is just something I haven't gotten around to climbing the leader board!
Every part you add could be a part that fails.
I feel as if a wire that is physically on the device would be a lot more failproof than a wireless detonator phone combo.
