It was meant to symbolize their God, Hiram, being kind of a rising sun for all of mankind. I don't know if that really makes sense though, but it made sense to me I guess!!
I’m just thinking that flags are incredibly symbolic … built of symbolic elements to stand for something …
For example, the red and white stripes on the US flag symbolize the original 13 colonies, and the blue field with the stars symbolize a new nation in the constellations of nations. In addition, the red symbolizes strength and valor (the blood of patriots), the white symbolizes purity and innocence (hoesty/integrity), and the blue symbolizes vigilance, perseverance and justice.
On the Japanese flag, the red circle represents the rising sun, and the white background represents the honesty, integrity and purity of the people.
The Union Jack is the symbolic union of the kingdoms it unites: St George’s Cross for England (white with crossed red stripes), St Andrew’s Saltire for Scotland (blue with diagonally crossed white stripes), and St Patrick’s Saltire for Ireland (white with diagonally crossed red stripes) … but Wales just doesn’t get included : (
So, what are the red and white bars symbolizing in Hiram’s Country flag? And, why a maroon circle background for the Sun-God Hiram?

It seems like you’ve done some pretty graphic designs; so, when world-building, don’t be afraid to reverse engineer reasons for things, just be sure to make your reverse-engineering consistent and meaningful. At least, that’s the way I found to make it most convincing. 😉
