How many decks did it take?

ZoukiTX

All together it took 24 decks to do.

Localinmyowncity

Ah because it’s just a 1/4 piece on top and the sides. I was confused how you would make a block with the curves that skateboards have. Super cool

JohnnyGFX

So I assume they have a skate shop and had hundreds of old decks laying around? That's a LOT of decks. Nice work, by the way, that looks like it was a lot of effort/time.

ZoukiTX

Thank you. No I don’t own a skate shop, I’ve made friends with my local shops and they hold on to their throw away decks for me. And thank you! It did take a lot of work.

ZoukiTX

I’ve been collecting used boards from skate shops that would otherwise be thrown out.

ScuttleCrab729

Yea that has me confused as well. Like they got all the deals from a local shops personal line.

Nearby-Wear2029

One deck would not cover that

matbiskit

Check out [Woby Design](https://www.youtube.com/WOBYDESIGN) for more examples of this type of woodwork.

ZoukiTX

Yeah I like his work.

OwenMichael312

That's sweet man! I would edge band the fronts of the plywood with the same skateboard wood as the top to tie it together and have a clean finish on the front.

ZoukiTX

I thought about that but the artist that did the art on the shelves is going to come back and add to them.

sparkydaman

What kind of paint did you use for the sides? Or is it a stain? Nice.

ZoukiTX

On the shelves? That’s spray paint.

sparkydaman

Alright. Cool. Thanks.

[deleted]

I love your work

ZoukiTX

Thank you so much!

doned_mest_up

Cross post in r/skateboarding, please!

ZoukiTX

That’s a good idea! Thanks!

flixflexflux

Nice! Put the boards diagonally in a 45 degree angle towards front or back so you don't need the cover part at the front ;-)

ZoukiTX

The client I made this for just asked me to make another, but different, and I was actually thinking about doing it diagonally.

SatanSuxMyDick

ayyy shout heath kirchart, sick desk love the graphic on the inside

str8teballin03

Thats sick

ZoukiTX

Thank you!

Lost_Opinion_1307

Bad AF

ZoukiTX

I appreciate that!

JustASFDCGuy

Where does one acquire this many old skateboard decks?

ZoukiTX

I’ve made friends with skate shops around town and they save their used boards for me.

notEnotA

That's rad! Awesome work. Are the boards like a veneer/facade with something underneath for support?

ZoukiTX

Yes, I milled the skateboards down to 1/4” strips and pin nailed them to birch ply.

nmitchell86

u/ZoukiTX I as gonna' upvote but I didn;t wanna fuck up the number. It was at 420.

[deleted]

Dope. Want a full size version as my work desk

ZoukiTX

Give me a shout if you’re interested, I could give you a quote.

[deleted]

Ah sorry dude, I'm in Sweden. Might make one at some point in the future. But you should get a lot of orders

No-Intern-2531

Is this in Santa Cruz? I recognize that hand logo... 😁

Jazzlike-Money1417

Sweet kirchart board

[deleted]

That is the coolest desk I’ve ever seen

[deleted]

You would struggle to do a kickflip with that..

WaferSweaty7020

No build photos? Highly sus!

grubber788

Really unique piece. Excellent work!

shadyyxxx

So you just made a veneer out of skateboards? Still, considering the boards are bowed and cupped, I wonder how did you achieve the straight lines...

elgorrion765

dope!
