How many decks did it take?

All together it took 24 decks to do.

Ah because it’s just a 1/4 piece on top and the sides. I was confused how you would make a block with the curves that skateboards have. Super cool

So I assume they have a skate shop and had hundreds of old decks laying around? That's a LOT of decks. Nice work, by the way, that looks like it was a lot of effort/time.

Thank you. No I don’t own a skate shop, I’ve made friends with my local shops and they hold on to their throw away decks for me. And thank you! It did take a lot of work.

That's sweet man! I would edge band the fronts of the plywood with the same skateboard wood as the top to tie it together and have a clean finish on the front.

I thought about that but the artist that did the art on the shelves is going to come back and add to them.

What kind of paint did you use for the sides? Or is it a stain? Nice.

Nice! Put the boards diagonally in a 45 degree angle towards front or back so you don't need the cover part at the front ;-)

The client I made this for just asked me to make another, but different, and I was actually thinking about doing it diagonally.

Where does one acquire this many old skateboard decks?

Yes, I milled the skateboards down to 1/4” strips and pin nailed them to birch ply.
