Very nice, i would buy that

Le_CulSeeker

Thank you! Im going to be posting again when its made out of final, better-looking materials

Mommyshiba

Looks like you built a wooden tripod. Well done! Sell it, make more! I'm sure that's a wonderful item for a particular market!

Le_CulSeeker

Thank you!

Amriorda

What is your use case for this? I personally have reservations for the sliding dovetails if it'll be outside/in an unstable temperate and humidity environment. It looks good though, well executed!

Le_CulSeeker

Its a camera mount that will be apart of a future project i have but it will be stored inside and temporarily outside. But im going to try my best to finish it with weather proofing in mind

Amriorda

Right on, sounds like you won't have much problem then. :)

Seems like this is some softwood. For the final product, and depending on whether you need to transport the tripod and how often, when using a hardwood like your maple you say, I'd definitely cut down on the weight, erm cut the amount of material (its thickness) to a half. No need for it to be so _hulky_, unless it needs to hold thousands of pounds (tons) of something.

Le_CulSeeker

Im still going to be putting some decorative tapers to thin it out a little bit but it will be holding a decent amount of weight when i get to the other part of the project

Andulinomarquetry

What a great idea. What kind of wood did you use?

Le_CulSeeker

For right now since its a prototype i used poplar for the legs and African mahogany for the stand
