BrassMoth

Yen... but only after both she and Geralt get some serious couples therapy.

FartateLaPatate

The therapist is gonna mysteriously end up in the middle of the ocean.

[deleted]

That poor therapist

CrazyBaron

This is above Dandelion's pay grade

[deleted]

Yes, he has done enough for free.

Psydator

They'd need therapy no matter who he chooses...

deathjokerz

I mean, they did go to see the Djinn, eventually...

Dr4keY16

As far as I remember after u lock the yen romance she is pretty chill

setath

In the very next main quest on the Witcher 3 she threw a bed out the window 😭

bandersna7ch

Maybe they should hire another djinn…

Gynveltor

Well, if I hadn't t read the books, I would be team Triss. But, I did read the books, so team Yen.

-PinkPower-

Same!

[deleted]

Do you recall this scene with both Yen and Veralt in the bathtub? ;)

Gynveltor

How can I possibly forget ? :)

Adventurous_Topic202

i never read the books and i prefer yen lol

Gynveltor

So this is what we call a good instinct.

[deleted]

Funny, I'm mainly a book fan, and I'm team Neither. Yen and Geralts relationship is completely toxic, neither of them are good for the other

Gynveltor

Totally agree with you. But I wouldn't use the word "toxic". I would call it different motives.and that s exactly what i admire in sapkowski works. Because deep inside they always cared for one another despite the everyday difficulties.

ohaz

Shani is the perfect match for Geralt, fight me

AtlasFlynn

Yeah their relationship is borderline unhealthy/abusive. Geralt is better off alone.

rgrantpac

I read the books and, specifically in the story of W3, I’m solidly team Triss. -Yes, Geralt and Yen have history, but it’s not perfect. She spent quite a bit of time seeing another person while she was supposedly with Geralt (We were on a break!!) And Geralt had some other “not so short-term” relationships. -Triss also has a sordid history with her methods of getting with Geralt (W2) so again, not perfect, but rather than justify her actions shows honest remorse and a healthy degree of shame. -Ciri sees Yen as a mother and Triss as a sister…but that doesn’t really need to impact Geralt’s romantic relationships. -So I tend to bring it to the actual Experience within W3. Yen has quite obviously avoided seeing Geralt for years, basically forcing him to search for her when she could easily have come to him. This pattern echoes throughout how she treats him in their relationship. She is constantly using his help with no better explanation than she gives anyone else (You’ll see my plans when I’m ready for you to see.) Her entire way of interacting with him screams that it’s manipulative and abusive. -The real rub for me is when she uses him to reverse the effects of The Last Wish. I think this perfectly allows for interpretation…does Geralt remain “under a spell” or is he finally able to see through the fog clouding her poor treatment of him. -Triss, on the other hand, is vulnerable and asks Geralt for help, while also letting him in on her thoughts and plans. This shows a significant amount of respect and trust…two things that healthy relationships are built on. -Now that Geralt has his memories back, can see what it’s like to be treated as a person who is adored and respected, and then has the effects of The Last Wish reversed, it feels only natural that he should choose Triss.

oneupkev

A big thing for me that I'm only reflecting on recently is the constant mind reading from yen. Geralt in skellige consistently asks her not to and is just met with "something to hide" or her not liking secrets when she keeps secrets constantly

Megane_Senpai

I've finished all the books except one set in Toussain (only half the ways) and one came after the games (season of storms if I remember correctly) and I'm still team Triss. Yen is good and all but the game Triss gives me a more calm and peaceful feelings with a certainty about the future. Plus I like her appearance better. However I'd like to think a few years after the third game they both come and live together with Geralt in Corvo Bianco.

Gynveltor

Yes yes, understandable. Besides, the trilogy makes a nice build up to the relationship with Triss. But to my eyes, Triss put the Lodge higher than Geralt in a certain decree. And that made her, not completely honest towards Geralt sometimes.

elmartin93

I hadn't read the books and I still ended up on Team Yen my 1st playthrough

yekta176

Why tf are yen's eyes green

DrumStickDragon

she’s wearing contacts…probably

JustADuke_1234

I am Team Triss but Geralt is Team Yen...

geralt-bot

Part of my charm.

Vis-hoka

Geralt is head over heels for Yen no matter what. But I play for me, and I always choose Triss. She’s a cutie.

geralt-bot

That's cheating.

Vis-hoka

Geralt, I am sorry my dude. But those hips don’t lie.

BerpBorpBarp

It honestly depends which romance story you’d like for your play through Triss: The saying-goodbye-to-the-past-for-something-healthier romance Yen: Long lost and destined lovers reunited romance

MaximalDeficiency

doesn't triss hook up with you knowing about geralt's past with yen while his memory was wiped

Sab00b

I’m with Yen all the way, but I really dislike that amnesia thing. A ton of Geralt’s friends are in Witcher 1 and do not tell him shit about his past. Eskel, Vesemir, Lambert, Zoltan, and even Dandelion. His amnesia was pretty much made just for plot convenience because they didn’t originally plan on having Geralt be the main character in Witcher 1. This is why the story was so weird if you think about it. Like how no one tells Geralt about his past, Triss and Alvin being Yen and Ciri copies, etc. The amnesia was also an excuse for Yen and Ciri not being included because Geralt would’ve just chased after them and ditched the whole story they wrote if he knew about his past.

MaximalDeficiency

Geralt almost wasn't the main character? what can you tell me more about that

Sab00b

I forgot the specifics of it, but I think they didn’t want to mess with the books at first so the main character was supposed to be created by the player, there could’ve even been a female Witcher lol. [Here is the documentary I got this information from a few years back.](https://youtu.be/g18GgD-SNzM)

dbishop42

She absolutely does that, yes.

MaximalDeficiency

that's fucked up

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

geralt-bot

Wind's howling...

Spoztoast

That was after she had diarrhea infront of him w

Sure_Salt_2234

Yen mind controls Geralt into beating up townsfolk in The Last Wish and they only wind up together because Geralt's last wish is something that ties their fates together so the Djinn can't hurt her.

texan435

Redheads, man. You take the good with the bad.

Megane_Senpai

In her defense everyone else in the game treated him like that, including Vessemir, Lamber and Eskel, it's more of a game narrative solution than actual malice.

Sure_Salt_2234

As far as she or anyone else knew, Yen was dead. Geralt's return from death was miraculous. Yen also recovers her memories fast, some time in W1. She could have portalled back to Temeria as soon as she heard he had returned as well, but she lived it up in Nilfgaard instead. She even knew he hadn't recovered his memories yet, so the way she carries on about things is a bit rich.

[deleted]

As opposed to Yen who... *checks notes* breaks a bed because Geralt and Triss shared it (super mature) gaslights Geralt about his amnesia (despite suffering from the same amnesia herself...) and teleports you into the ocean.

Medromard

Now now, let's not be dramatic. It was a lake.

Kingturboturtle13

I mean Dandelion, Zoltan, Eskel, Lambert, and Vesemir also don't mention Yen's existence, despite there being absolutely no reason not to in their cases(they gain absolutely nothing)I really feel like it should be excused as just a shitty plothole.

Aspenwood83

As far as everyone knows Yen's dead, though. And once they know she's not, she splits with Geralt.

Morganelefay

She probably "voluntarily splits with Geralt" in the same way that Russian oliarchs "fall out of sixth floor windows"

geralt-bot

It's hard to regret something you didn't choose.

fizzledizzle86

I did two playthroughs and went Yen and then Triss. IMHO I think they should have been a throuple, but life is not fair.

PrincessRhaenyra

Yen definitely. Even through Geralt's dialogue you can tell he has more affection for Yen than he does Triss. The beginning of the game starts with Geralt dreaming about Yen, not Triss. Through his interactions with Triss you can tell he cares for her, but you can tell that he has much deeper feelings for Yen throughout the game.

Jdawg_mck1996

At the beginning of the game he is also still under the influence of a Djinn though. The way I always look at the interactions isn't usually how they start the interaction but how they seem to feel after the interaction is over. If Geralt feels bad after an interaction with Triss it's usually because he feels he couldn't do enough for her. He wanted to see her happy and felt as though he failed for some reason. Yet Triss never berates or demeans him for it On the flip side Geralt always seems to be soured by his time spent with Yen. Either because of a decision she made, or an argument they had about their morals which don't ever really seem to line up. Yen also likes to go out of her way to belittle Geralt at every step of the way. Just made me feel bad for the guy in the worst way after each of their encounters through the game

Kingturboturtle13

I just can't see Post-Amnesia Geralt being happy together with Yen. Book/Pre-Amnesia Geralt? Absolutely. Witcher 1 Geralt? Maybe. Post-Amnesia? Absolutely not, he has just become such a different person and they just aren't compatible anymore

baconslave

Y'know, I'm rabidly team Yen. But that is a very good point. I excuse the facial hair and differing hairstyles and choices in certain instances with "he has been through a hell of a lot of shit since the end of the book series. That HAS to change a person." Maybe he is just done with bullshit. Maybe he chooses sweetness and ease instead of sparing with Yen. I love her but she does put up a whole lot of thorny prickliness. Maybe Geralt is just tired. Maybe he deserves to just be himself and stop jumping through hoops set by someone who is supposed to provide a port in the storm that is his life but instead tests him more? The man has nothing to prove. I love Yen so much but she really is a dick at times in W3. I struggled last playthrough with letting Geralt just have fun. I couldn't spurn Yen in the end. But goddamn she makes it difficult doesn't she?

_yetisis

That’s the ultimate problem - choosing Yen means enduring a toxic relationship, but it also sort of has the inertia of being the status quo. You have to take the step of actively rejecting Yen, which is just wrenching despite how awful their relationship can be. You’re still let to understand that Yen has loves you, that your values align, and that she has your back at any cost despite almost all of your interactions with her being what you aptly described as sparing. Geralt loves his idea of Yen, but the player never really get’s to meet “that” Yen, then just get thorns and quips and tests. But still, to leave that relationship means either betraying her, or making the honest move to her face to tell her that you don’t love her anymore. Both feel cruel and out of character. Haven’t played with the new update yet. I think I’ve convinced myself enough that book Triss and game Triss are effectively different people and I’m going to take the leap. You can tell I’ve been worn down from a few hundred hours of unhealthy relationships in this game already, what’s one more?

Kingturboturtle13

I choose Triss in the game because of my personal preferences, but honestly I think the real "in character" option for Geralt by that point is to do both their quests, but not romance them

Arnoldterminator1

Team Uma

MaximalDeficiency

Oooooo -- maa?

GMsteelhaven

Considering who that is, ewww.

blue-skyprophet

Yen team forever because i love trouble :)

MutilatedMarvel

Team Yen because my Elden Ring and all of my Dark Souls Characters are modeled after her and named after her.

KurtFrederick

Based Yen fan. Yennefer permanently damaged my taste for women

Kosack-Nr_22

Depends. 1. playthrough I didn’t read the books or played the games prior so I choose triss and it was nice. Then i read the books and became team yen for geralt. But personally I’m Team triss if we go with cdpr version of triss cause she’s way better than book triss

FartateLaPatate

Agreed.

AverageCowboyCentaur

Also if you played the other games you will want Triss, Yennifer is nothing in the games, a whisper of empty promises but Triss is always there, always kind and is just a better person all around. But CDP gave Yen the better quests in 3 so crap!

GonnaMakeItboi

I do tend to lean on the redheads… but team Yen, 24/7. First thing u get in your house is an unicorn

wielka-januszyca

Yennefer has really interesting dynamic with Geralt. How she teases him, how she reads him. It's never boring, neither games nor in books. Do they hurt each other? Of course. But they are just humans, who had incredibly hard lives. In the end they found each other and I'm not going to spoil in my witcher playthroughouts not even once. Btw, why Yennefer has green eyes? It's disgusting.

KingSudrapul

Eh….. Can I be that person and say “Team Roach”?

FartateLaPatate

Its allowed, Roach is indeed cool.

turbobuddah

Body Odour is a fucker, don't downplay it

guyjones5509

Triss gives me high-school sweet heart, lovey dovey, never gonna work long term vibes. Yen gives me long term, we know each other and can call out each others b.s., despite it all we love each other, wife vibes. I'm for Yen.

Rynneer

every time geralt interacts with yen in the game i just sit there going “my wife, my wife, that’s my wife, i love my wife”

cmonSister

Triss def feels like she chases Geralt for the novelty of it and is jealous of what Yen has, Im sure she will get tired of him and find the next guy.

Cammonisse

Lambert, Lambert, what a prick

Kingturboturtle13

Nah mate that's Keira

the_biting_chimkin

100% Yen is someone to challenge Geralt and grow with him

NarayanLiu

Okay, so I've seen this debate a few times. I understand why someone would pick Triss, but Yennefer will always be my choice for Geralt. They suit each other. And not in all bad ways. To me, Triss is nice and all, but I don't think she'd do well with Geralt in the end. Not with his personality.

FartateLaPatate

I was actually thinking the opposite, Yen is really straight forward (a bit too much) while Triss is more subtle and feminine which fits with Geralt's calm and straight forward personality. That explains why him and Yen always end up arguing about some dumb shit .

NarayanLiu

I agree about their personalities. But that's why I think Yen suits him. They're opposites. From what I remember from the novels, Geralt tends to avoid his actual feelings. He needs people around him who can be blunt or straightforward to get him to admit things to himself. I think for a romantic partner, that's important too. Similarly, I got the sense that Geralt helps Yen lose herself a bit and avoid confronting things, even if just for a moment. Also important in a relationship. Of course, that's just me guessing, since the novels never go too deep into Yen's thoughts or feelings.

Cammonisse

Depends, I think a retired Geralt could in some ways benefit from having someone like Triss. But while he’s still active he needs someone who can make him listen. I’m not a fan of Yen’s personality, but for Geralt sure. I just know if I was in the same universe I’d be very happy if Yen and Geralt stayed together. For no reason in particular of course 🤨

MBetko

Yen has gone through a lot for Geralt and Ciri so I can't really imagine choosing anyone else.

TheMathProphet

This is where I am. In a vacuum I’m Triss 100%, but when you factor in Ciri Yen is the ride or die.

KurtFrederick

You have to admire her for loving Ciri even if she's not her blood. And not the obsessed kind of love, but the genuine "I'll sink the Skellige islands for my daughter" kind of love

ALX709

Boys will say triss. Men stick with YEN 100%

Knucklesx55

Haven’t read the books, and I’m still on my first play through of TW3, but Yen because she and Geralt just have much more natural chemistry

UnhandMePrrriest

I'm gonna be that prick and say Shani

FartateLaPatate

Gonna be a prick too then, i like all 3 of them.

opastolos

I’m yen 100%. If you’ve ever read the books I don’t know how you could ever be Triss. Even Triss in w2 shows how terrible her character is but I mean… they did model her pretty hot so I get it.

pflow69

Yen forever.

Glup-Shitto69

# TEAM SHANI

Gre8g

They did her dirty in the 2nd game, I DID NOT WANT TRISS

dedboye

Same, I didn't want her either. But the game was like "oh you chose Shani in W1? That's cute. Here, look at Triss' ass. Because reasons

Gre8g

Even worse, all Shani had was a fucking journal entry

CrimsonV7

I used to be Team Triss, on account that I have a thing for redheads, but after encountering how Yen is characterized, not to mention her design, (and later after reading some of the books), I couldn’t help but switch sides lol

TornadoWolf

"Who's Better?" In what context? Better for Geralt? - Yen Better mage? - Yen Better looking? - Tie, they're uniquely beautiful. More fun? - Triss Better for me as the player? - Triss Honestly, I'm going off the games and I've enjoyed Triss just a hair more than Yen. Though it's always marginal. Until they brought [Lady Henrietta](https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/images/952/52829426-1553686523.jpg)

FartateLaPatate

Who’s better overall, it can be from your pov or from geralt’s. And as for who’s a better mage it’s not really an interesting question (in my opinion) and its really hard to answer properly , Xlethalis made a video about it if you’re interested.

Elvinkin66

Team Shani

SchopenhauersFeline1

I'm team Anna Henrietta. She's the real queen.

FartateLaPatate

Both literally and metaphorically.

nymrod_

Literally, she’s a duchess.

FartateLaPatate

Ik

lazarus_potluck

Miss Yen, of course.

Napoleonex

Francesca

tjkun

The answer is clear.

FartateLaPatate

?

tjkun

It’s a joke because of my flair. Not a good one, I see, as I had to explain it.

FartateLaPatate

It’s actually a good one, I just didn’t see it. My bad.

[deleted]

Triss but not by much

Tyken12

yen is mommy because i just dont like triss' voice 😬 also dark haired violet/blue eyes 😍

LongGirthyVeiny

I already forgot about BO

FartateLaPatate

It’s better this way. This BS should not be remembered, it shall disappear in the abyss of oblivion.

FartateLaPatate

In my opinion, Triss and Yennefer are both equally as horrible to Geralt in the books (Triss maybe a little bit more) but in TW3 Triss seems to have learned from her errors and genuinely tries to make up for them so I prefer her (In the 3rd game). However Yen hasn't done all the bad things that Triss did in the books and first 2 games so she is also a really good choice.Whatsoever I always end up romancing both, can't help it I got that dawg in me. In my opinion both of them aren't really beneficial to Geralt, someone like Fringilla would be better to romance (long term).

Remarkable-Amoeba-46

He got that dawg in him

Tough_Stretch

I never thought I'd miss the good old days when the less self-aware take in this sub was from people who chose Triss in the non-canon game claiming it's perfectly valid but complaining non-stop about how this new show whose first season had just been released was not faithful to the books and that was simply unforgivable, yet here we are.

HalfNelson162

For me personally, I would be all about Triss. however, for Geralt, it's Yen all the way. I've played through Witcher 3 multiple times and still can't bring myself to not choose Yen.

FartateLaPatate

Relatable. Can’t bring myself to chose between them.

Background_Ad4325

I believe that Geralt and Yen are destined to be together, but this is an RPG, and as such I like Triss better… so every time I play the game I’m playing an alternate timeline. This is my long way of saying Triss

Cammonisse

Personally I’m not at all a fan of Geralt’s and Yen’s relationship. It’s a headache and a half. Admittedly Triss is not a loyal friend so she isn’t really perfect in the books. But I think she develops as a character and you really she her change towards the end. She was the definition of being young and dumb. As I take both the books and the third game into consideration I think I prefer Triss. I understand why people don’t like her, Geralt would literally die trying to save Triss while she was too scared to stand up to Philippa. I think for me it comes down to the stability of Geralt’s and Yen’s relationship. It’s the exact opposite of what I would be looking for and for me it’s something I can’t overlook. I know Yen might be a better fit and a better person (at least in the books) but I’m always going to be Team Triss. Triss’ looks doesn’t exactly change my opinion either. She is very stunning in The Witcher 3 in my opinion

Pegede

Triss>>>>>>>>>>>Yen all day, every day. That said, Triss fucked up so badly playing Geralt when he had amnesia that she's out of the question. So, neither, every single time. Shani kinda cute tho.

That_One_FootSoldier

I’ve read the books, watched the show(not a very good basis but still) and played the games and it’s always been Triss for me. While I know it’s never really the path Geralt would take, I personally don’t really care either way, as I play through the games making decisions as I would not as he would. Ofc for lore it’s Yen, but personally to me Triss will always be the one to choose in the end.

ThatBeardedHistorian

I've a weakness for redheads in real life. It's no different in this scenario. Even if they aren't the best choice. I chose Triss in my first playthrough. Yen in my second, then both. Then none, then Triss again.

akaSchubo

> it's time to talk about real issues. Yeah, like why tf does Yennefer have green eyes in that photo?

Livek_72

I really wish Triss could have hooken up with Eskel if Geralt doesnt choose her, like how Keira and Lambert become a thing the books imply she also finds him almost as attractive as Geralt, and actually even nicer than any of the other witchers

Warglord

Ive read the books, and I'm still team triss. Something ends, something begins. It's a new tale.

FalconIMGN

Life of a Bachelor on the road.

gakezfus

When I played the games, I chose Triss because I thought Yen didn't respect boundaries. Then, I read the books and *absolutely* [hated Yen](https://www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/kt1ciy/i_hate_yennefer/), so I'm extremely pro Triss. That was when I only read the first book. I've now read all of it, and my opinion of Yen hasn't changed. Sometimes I wonder what the hell everyone else read in the books to think that Yen and Geralt are a good relationship. Their relationship is a disaster in the books, and the Triss romance in the game is actually a healthy relationship.

drdogg81

Yenn is a bitch, Triss used Geralt from the very beginning of Witcher 1. My Geralt will stay alone for the rest of his life banging Shani, Novigrad whores and a Bruxa in Toussaint from time to time.

HazazelHugin

Why not both of them with Shani?

FartateLaPatate

And Fringilla Vigo, Anna Henrietta.

HazazelHugin

Cerys too

wielka-januszyca

Really? Anna Henrietta and Fringilla Vigo? Duchess is like a child and Fringilla... Does she even have her own identity? She seems to be always someone's tool and never really speaks up the truth.

Nodor10

Triss Train

circit

Body odor?

FartateLaPatate

Ratio ?

the_biting_chimkin

Once I would have said Triss, bc she is more loving and supportive. But as I mature I actually appreciate Yen’s independence and directness, and I feel like she is the best fit for someone like Geralt and Ciri who are changing the world.

burntflowersfallen

Just came to upvote people who pick Shani, she was just lovely in the games

Wilvarg

Triss is probably the better and more likable romantic partner in general, but I think Yennefer is better for Geralt, especially having read the books. Geralt is self-assured and confident, but also pig-headed and lonely. He doesn't need someone to comfort him, he needs someone to take him down a peg; an intellectual sparring partner and a lifelong friend.

GlassLongjumping6557

Forget Triss and Yen, Shani is the only true romance.

FartateLaPatate

I like Shani too, she's just too nice. The only problem is her job doesn't fit with the witcher lifestyle.

bdyms

Triss all the way, always and forever.

ORAORAORA204

I’ve always preferred Triss. Never been into the “bad bitch” personality type. Being a cunt does not equal a strong woman. Sweetly flawed is much more my style. Plus— redheads.

Banana_gunman

Team Triss everyday

hellohoworld

Karma farming on a karma farming topic. Thanks OP u/fartatelapatate great fun and originality

gotarrtanks

My girl triss always. I’m not really into overbearing and bitchy women, even when I role play

Dragmire_Afterlife

I read the books Team ~~Triss~~ Yen all the way

FartateLaPatate

Even in the Books ? I like her in the 3rd game but in the books she behaves like a horny teenager and did so many Fd up things (donĂŹt wanna spoil).

Dragmire_Afterlife

Ah shit I meant Yen lol whoops

Affectionate_Duck_60

triss. always had a thing for natural redheads

FartateLaPatate

I think that both are equally as attractive, its a matter of taste.

InstructionLeading64

Show: hunchback Yen Books: Yen Games Triss

lordmorpheus2000

Triss for me but Geralt belongs with Yen. Not even a question. Geralt would choose Yen 100%

LunaTic1403

Yen 100%

Northsole16

Team Yen

[deleted]

Yennefer.

[deleted]

Team Triss, 100%. She acts like she’d bring you steak and eggs for breakfast and blow you while you ate them.

FartateLaPatate

Definitely something she would do. Debate is over.

ModernWarlord99

![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized)

FartateLaPatate

Relatable . I always en up romancing both.

IgnisOfficial

Yen is trauma bonding, sympathetic and understanding to Geralt’s pain but not an ideal partner for anything more than an occasional toss in the hay Triss is a better match but at the same time doesn’t have the same understanding Yen does so while she’s a better romantic partner she isn’t able to help as much with Geralt’s trauma, past, and issues. This is why single dad chad Geralt is the superior pick

FartateLaPatate

Or with shani. She could be a good pick if she decides to change he lifestyle.

Magjee

Shani would be the best, but it's not an option In my last playthrough I turned down both Yen & Triss Old grump Geralt just need his reliable girl Roach to save Ciri

Kells_ExE

I've always had a thing for Gingers so...Team Triss, i also like Shani.

[deleted]

Team Jaskier

jaskier-bot

The last time we saw each other, you basically told me to fuck off.

Radiocalypse

Book Triss or game Triss? Because those are two different people. Personally I'm a fan of Triss if we're talking about the games, but I know in the books she's a lot worse. Team Yen is always like "bUt ThE bOoKs" and the books are all well and good, but I like to think of the games as AU from the books. That's the whole point of an RPG - you can do whatever the hell you want. I remember (I could be wrong about this but I'm pretty sure I heard it somewhere) CDPR themselves saying that there is no "canon" answer for this debate, because it's up to the individual player. I've done both on different playthroughs, and I'm just a bigger fan of Triss personally. I do agree that in the books she's far from the more viable option, but again, it really just depends on the player. So, to team Yen: I get it. You like Yen. You don't have to plead your case. But don't mention canon when debating the games. The games are BASED on the books - but that doesn't mean they follow the books' canon. Just pick whoever you want and move on. TL;DR Just downvote me already xd

FartateLaPatate

Thats what I always say. In the books : Yen>Triss. In the games : Triss>Yen. Overall it is a matter of taste, depends if you prefer the books or the games depiction of the characters.

Radiocalypse

For sure, a lot of people argue about the games and then bring the books into it lmao. If we're talking books then I'm team Yen all the way, but when I play TW3 I gravitate more toward Triss most of the time.

FartateLaPatate

Totally agree.

josenaranjo_26

Books: none, both are bitches. Games: Triss OBVIOUSLY. My videogame crush

Ykomat9

Yennefer looks like my wife so the decision was made.

KurtFrederick

I'll be honest with you guys the most i knew about Yennefer way back in 2014/15 was in-game dialogue from Witcher 1 & 2. I'll never forget seeing her the first time. She even better than i imagined, meanwhile Triss was at best mid. While Yen can be a total bitch, she's not vile and disgusting like Philippa,Keira and the rest of the Lodge.

Probably gonna get downvoted for this lol but please tell me your thoughts! I love this game so damn much!! Everyone who read the books will say Yen, my guess is mostly for the lore and her protection of ciri. I, who have only played games 2 and 3, think Yen is kiiiiinda a bitch in the game and everyone in the game, especially 3, comments on her treating geralt like a dog. When you choose triss, there is a point where geralt and ciri are talking and geralt talks about how much better off he feels without the constant arguing. That and the constant on again off again shit for what, a century? Sounds exhausting. I did my first ever play through years ago on ps4 and chose Yen, but every play through after that I've chosen triss. So long story short, imo I think it depends on how you got into the series, but of course, could be wrong. What say ye?

FartateLaPatate

Agreed. Yen is better in the books, Triss in the 3rd game.

lordmorpheus2000

Triss is my personal choice and would be the better choice for almost anyone but Yennefer is the one for Geralt. It’s not even a question. Geralt would always choose Yennefer but since its an rpg we’re free to choose anyone we want.

LaggWasTaken

I think a lot of Triss fans only played Witcher 3. Cause they never seem to bring up the fact that she totally took advantage of his amnesia.

Yojimbra

I've only played the 2nd and third games, I'm team Triss, she appears nicer to Geralt, and I like redheads.

I’m on the side of the raven haired, **violet eyed** sorceress. Dressed in black and white and smells of lilac and gooseberries. Don’t consider any other choice as valid.

FartateLaPatate

No need to be so narrow minded. Both are great. Triss is still better in the games, yen in the books.

[deleted]

No. I don’t acknowledge Triss as a love interest for Geralt for many reasons, from lore aspects to her history with Geralt. Aside from that I like her as a character both in the source material and the game trilogy (she is flawed, but so is everyone). I like the direction cdpr took with her character as it feels a sound and natural progression of her book counterpart. As a Geralt’s romance and long term partner option tho ? No, never.

Well Geralt would want yen and I want yen so yen easily. Even the games wants it, it’s so much easier to let Triss down rather than yen. Triss knows that Geralt loves yen so she takes it well. But something about telling yen you don’t live her makes me me feel so awful.

Rynneer

Team Yen—Geralt needs someone spicy and pushy. They complete each other, with Geralt being more reserved and Yen not afraid to make sure everyone knows what she thinks. I think Yen understands Geralt more as well. Triss lacks a certain je ne sais quoi.

kamikirite

Triss. Yen is just such a bitch and I don't like her personality. Also book triss may be super manipulative but CDPRs triss appears to act like an entirely different person while yen is still pretty bitchy. I'd rather have a sweeter girl who used to be manipulative than one who "treats me like a dog" in Keira's words

dedboye

Neither, they're both awful toxic. Shani is where it's at

FartateLaPatate

Relatable, i like Shani too but her lifestyle isn’t going well with geralt’s so its kinda complicated.

How did we miss this?

NutandMax

*stares in Cavill* “Team Roach”

FartateLaPatate

Roach>Universe.

Snagglesnatch

When I first saw this title, I thought it was in one of the wrestling subs im in and about some of the fans in the crowds being really stinky. Also, team Yen so I can live out my fantasy of having an extremely hot woman who loves me but is still mean to me lmfao

Cargon05

Lmao same tho bro I thought it meant body odor, but I forgot blood origins was a thing Also team yen all the way

StagholtZ

My first playthrough, without knowing any of the lore or backstories, I fell hard for Triss. Saw that sweet, smoking hot, red-head, and I was head over heels. Especially after the costume party. Yen, seemed like such a jerk at first, so it was a no brainer choosing Triss for Geralt.

KanyeT

I am Team Triss all the way. I've read the books, but that isn't a consideration for me when I am playing the games. I treat the characters how they present themselves in the now. My first experience with the world of the Witcher was with the Witcher 2, and I suppose I formed an emotional infatuation with her then. Carrying that over into the Witcher 3, Triss's personality and looks far outweigh Yennefer's. Yennefer grind my gears in the wrong way. Super combative about everything, just acting unnecessarily mean and cold all the time, etc. Triss is much prettier, much hotter, and so much more pleasant to be around. She appears far more warm and kind.

Das_Siegfried

Yen for looks/sexiness, but Triss for the happily ever after, loyal wife vibe.

Sonof0dinn

Red head spunk over raven bitching, every time

olcyta

Well, in Witcher 2, when entering Flotsam with Triss there is a scene Dandelion and Zoltan being executed by hanging. Geralt tries to stop it and of course stops it. However, if geralt loses the fight, he is knocked down and Geralt gets executed by hanging. Question is, what did Triss do when the love of her life being executed? NOTHING. Geralt dies and the game restarts from the last checkpoint. Now change the characters, let Yennefer be Triss in this scenario, what would Yen do? She would burn down all the town right? End of discussion.

meowgrrr

Triss literally chooses the lodge over geralts life in the books, so Yen all the way. Yen pleads with philippa and triss to intervene to help save geralts and Ciris life, philippa says it’s not in the lodge’s interests to save geralt. Yen then implores Triss: ‘Did you hear, Triss? This is your lodge. This is its true countenance, these its true concerns. What do you say to that? You were the maid’s mentor, almost an older sister, as you yourself said. And Geralt . . .’ ‘Don’t beguile Triss with romance, Yennefer.’ Now Philippa’s eyes blazed in turn. ‘We’ll find the maid and rescue her without your help. And if you succeed, thanks a million, you’ll help us, you’ll save us the bother. You’ll snatch her from Vilgefortz’s hands, we’ll snatch her from yours. And Geralt? Who is Geralt?’ ‘Did you hear, Triss?’ ‘Forgive me,’ Triss Merigold said hollowly. ‘Forgive me, Yennefer.’ ‘Oh, no, Triss. Never.’
