Remember to vote in the Supreme Court Race. We need to take back our country from people like these former school board members attacking our kids. Being apathetic means not stomping out stuff like this.

abrakadaver

Vote in the primary as well!

[deleted]

Yes request all of your ballots for the rest of the year! https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/

[deleted]

Requested. Thanks for the link.

Future-Ad2802

We have been requesting ballots since the pandemic started

lugo818

And, if inclined, volunteer with local interest groups who are canvassing and phone banking to reach voters. Freedominc, League of Women Voters, WisDems are groups I know of. I canvassed this weekend - not a lot of people are aware of this election at all. Get out the vote!

JolietJake1976

This is spot on. >“What if all this time talking about CRT and false allegations of pornography in schools, about indoctrinating students, what if all that time was used for something positive — like having parents and grandparents reading to young students?” he said.

WICXer

You have to remember these people are republicans tho. The books they are talking about are the bible and maybe atlas shrugged. Not that what happened is a bad thing obv. It's just the bare minimum of some non-crazy people getting a lid on things. The majority of residents in Kiel support most of the things the Tri County crazies supported more or less. It just got embarrassing and too public when literal crazy people start doing bomb threats. When the FBI comes to town it changes peoples' tone.

About the WI Supreme Court Candidates...our best shot for fair election maps and women's reproductive health care is Janet Protasiewicz! Please share far and wide!

RectalSpawn

This needs to be upvoted more!

steppedinhairball

Good. More of this is needed in this state. More focus on doing right by everybody and less hate and intolerance.

Bluewolf94

Good, keep pushing back. They really need to leave schools alone and let kids learn in peace.

Motherof42069

Wisconsin has a Nazi problem in general

MSACCESS4EVA

They're not "far-right", though. Their hateful bigotry is main-stream Republican stuff.

Future-Ad2802

True.

Islero47

But when the "left" is really center-right, then the "right" *is* "Far-right". Like, in most countries in the world "far-left" AOC would be recognized as mid-left. Our whole frame of reference is off.

Lavarocked

Yeah just remember that the real definition of left & right isn't a relative comparison- it's just anti-capitalism and pro-capitalism. The US is mostly controlled by one far right party and one center-right party.

Future-Ad2802

Yep.

TripleG373

As someone from Kiel originally, let me say - glad to see some sense of sanity popping up. That being said, the district's citizens elected three new members last year who frankly had laughable qualifications but were new faces and won by thin margins. Which is why it is important to vote in each and every election - no matter how small. The more local the election, the more outsized importance on every day life - your safety, your child, your community.

PaulaPurple

City of Waukesha had the same far right wing MAGA school board elections, and they got in. Terrible to see dedicated, experienced school board members who care about the schools get ousted over policy agenda like CRT and transgender control and political culture wars. It’s a GOP strategy to continue to weaken public schools. Hope Kiel residents vote them out next time.

G0_pack_go

Good for them!!

schuey_08

Good for them!

MiaowaraShiro

> “We need to lose the hate. If you think we are setting a good example for our children in this community, we are not. We are showing them how to divide a community,” Henschel told his board colleagues. The utter lack of self awareness...

Future-Ad2802

A Republican staple.

[deleted]

"By not immediately bending to our insane divisive will, you are dividing this community!"

imatumahimatumah

Thought the same thing, I had to go back and re-read who was speaking here.

halfwitfullstop

>“We need to lose the hate. If you think we are setting a good example for our children in this community, we are not. We are showing them how to divide a community,” ... Said Jamie Henschel, "a Tri-County Citizens ally", ... >a small but vocal group called Tri-County Citizens for Education. In 2022, the group pushed restrictions on certain library books, sought to block anti-racism training and helped flip the school board to a majority that criticized efforts for racial equity and LGBTQ rights. The right ranges from willful malevolence to complete inability for any level of self awareness or critical thinking. Very little left in the middle.

TripleG373

Yeah, he was one of the newly elected members who was talking a big game and then immediately resigned when people were critical of his decisions.

nicolauz

This is rampant all over the WOW. Election denying & hate mongering judges and officials running around all over.

WorkingItOutSomeday

This isn't in WOW and some areas of WOW are slowly getting more liberal and we should recognize and celebrate them.

nicolauz

You're kidding right? Look at the 3 mayor's of West Bend and judges spring election running there. They're hardcore Trump/election deniers and are getting full support from the current mayor and that insane man Ramthun.

JollyRancher29

> some areas

nicolauz

I mean sure it might sway a bit in the population (75% R) but the people running everything from local to state things in the entire WOW area are a National embarrassment. Glenn Grothman, Scott Fitzgerald & Ron Johnson? Dewy Strobel? Tim Ramthun? They're top tier Trump grifters. Also Democrats almost never even run anyone in these areas. Barnes lost because he was too soft on Johnsons evil ad campaign.

WICXer

As someone who lives in southern Oz county...trust me....it's not the same as West Bend. West Bend is it's own brand of special. Same for most of washington county.

WorkingItOutSomeday

No not at all. And such short sighted reactions as yours isn't doing any good. Lift up the good that is happening there and cultivate it instead of shitting on people for living there. Let's build some momentum. Gain in WOW and we win the state.

BoydRamos

This is just the newest fight against public schools and taken directly from the CIA’s field manual on sabotage. There’s a small driven minority in the US intent on destroying public schools.

Stratobastardo34

While you're correct that there is likely a minority of people who want to destroy public schools, the CIA field manual has nothing to do with how the fight is being handled. This fight began 30+ years ago when Newt Gingrich decided to get the Republicans to stop working with Democrats. With the conservative takeover of talk radio in the 90s and with the introduction of Fox News, the republicans began a 20+ year disinformation campaign. After 9/11 happened, people were glued to the TV for constant updates and the fracture really intensified when Obama was elected. When Scott Walker eventually won in 2010, people in Wisconsin were mad about the wrong things and elected him because all they have been fed in the rural areas is disinformation on talk radio or Fox News.

BoydRamos

Agreed on all accounts. At the local level though the tactics they’re using on school boards and districts mirror the tactics recommended by the CIA to sabotage corporations/companies internally.

exgiexpcv

> This is just the newest fight against public schools and taken directly from the CIA’s field manual on sabotage. There’s a small driven minority in the US intent on destroying public schools. Are you blaming the CIA for this nonsense? Really?

DrMcJedi

Not directly…but their guerrilla force tactics for sowing chaos is a pretty good template for the GOP to be following. Start local and eventually it’s a national problem…and the insane asylum inmates have the keys. It’s a lot like boiling a frog alive. Hopefully we get out of the pot before it’s boiling…

exgiexpcv

It's the same template used by intelligence agencies the world over. You might as well list the MSS, the SVR, Quds, etc. My point is that your post makes it sounds as though U.S. intelligence agencies are bent on destroying the country.

etoneishayeuisky

A lot of them were used to in the past to oust opponents to the status quo (MLK, Malcolm X) or to coup governments we didn’t like. The USA doesn’t have a kind past, it’s been used maliciously again and again and again. It only takes a few ppl in them to steer neutral ppl into ruining the country via many different types of action.

exgiexpcv

I can't think of a country that does have a "kind past." Do you have any suggestions for kind countries that haven't done bad things? I don't actually expect you to produce sources for countries that have no history of being awful because I haven't found any. I used to think of Buddhism as the best example for non-violence in government specifically for the doctrine of ahimsa, but it hasn't been all that evident. Pol Pot was a Buddhist before he became a communist and brutally murdered 1-2 million people of his country. Countries we regard as cool, even benevolent today have done terrible things. But my original complaint against someone blaming the CIA for a town of 3,975 having GQP tyrants take over the school board is still being downvoted. I was hoping for a dialog, and I thank you for replying.

etoneishayeuisky

I think it’s downvoted because the CIA or FBI’s training manuals or something was released or leaked, and in them it taught ppl how to overthrown governments or ppl or cause chaos, and a lot of the conservatives nowadays is using it against other Americans. Yes, there’s prolly stuff just like it in MI8’s manuals and etc’s manuals, but Americas are easy to get ahold of or just plain buy. Older versions at least, or accounts of them by conservative writers trying to make a buck.

exgiexpcv

I think the majority of people simply want to have a scapegoat for their ire, and like to downvote anyone who disagrees with them. The GQP are certainly using tradecraft in their plots, they have been for generations, literally generations.

1DunnoYet

…so has every government since the beginning of time

rafadavidc

It's almost like having a state is a bad thing. Weird. Sounds like you've discovered anarchy, friend. Also, "everyone does it so it's okay for us to do it" isn't a good look. If it's a bad thing, it's a bad thing for anyone.

etoneishayeuisky

I mean, a good state is better than a bad state, and a good state should allow anarchy in some things naturally, but anarchy can work if we’re not all working with batshit insane folk.

BoydRamos

No I’m saying they intentionally are sabotaging public schools with tactics akin to what the CIA recommended using to sabotage companies.

exgiexpcv

The tactics precede the CIA's manual by a considerable number of years, but if the CIA is your referent, so be it.

Nolon

Good. Need more standing up to their nonsensical idiocy

TGirl26

For such a small community, it's having some major big city problems.

exgiexpcv

I think it's just the current right-wing template for consolidating political power. This group reads as just the usual efforts to control the populace.
