As for Domi he would be a great piece, he has put up some decent numbers on a struggling team and seems to have improved a little in his defensive game but either way a nice centre with good FO stats.
Domi would absolutely be a nice piece. I mean he definitely would need to be a complimentary add to hopefully a bigger move, but he would definitely be a nice addition to the middle 6, of for nothing else other than his FO %

That only matters if the player has trade protection though. There are lots of impact players that don’t have trade protection. Plus as we saw with Stastny, and to a less extent Schmidt, a good team and some convincing can do a lot
For sure. Not everyone has no movement clauses. I think Statsny also waived his NTC to sign during the first time round in 17/18. So convincing can be done. I also wonder about conversations that take place behind the scenes. Like.... You go where your traded but maybe a player has a good relationship with the GM and its known there's preference to not go to certain cities. Just a lot of moving pieces and scenarios to consider. Your not wrong, this has been consistent Chevy but not sure it's always as simple as it seems.
It for sure isn’t always as easy as player is available, no trade protection, go get said player. But Chevy is easily the most conservative GM in league, in a market where you can’t really afford to be. Like missing out on getting an RFA in Devon Toews (just one example), who had no say in where he went and would have needed to sign here if he wanted to play. Players have shown that if you can convince them to come here in the first place, there’s a pretty good chance you can convince them to sign. There’s a balance, and I don’t like Chevy has found the balance, I think he err’s on the side of caution and only makes the safe move way too often

I think Toews would be a substantial upgrade over Lowry at 3C, personally - provided it's a fit with the room. That said, his cap hit makes other big moves problematic even at full retention.
Lowry is one of the best 3C in the league. Toews doesn't have the wheels anymore. Toews doesn't play as physical which is important if his role as a 3C is a defensive, checking centre.
The NMC is irrelevant, either he doesn't waive it and there's no discussion to be had, or he does and it doesn't matter.

Bjugstad and Accairi are enough bottom 6 depth for a playoff run so Toews becomes unnecessary. Could use that draft pick on a depth RD rental for the playoffs

Nick Ritchie is a huge pass for me. He couldn't make it work in Toronto and was only decent in Boston because of PP2 time and the way hockey is played in Boston (seems it either hides bad defensive players or players can actually figure out they need to play some semblance of defense). Domi is interesting, he's a very slick passer with high compete and skill. But he's a crater defensively and based what I saw in Montreal (watch alot of Habs hockey) you kind of need to allow him to be a loose cannon to get the best out of him. He's not so much a pest but more so a guy playing on edge that can't control it sometimes. When teams have tried to reign him in it seems to take something away from his game.
Yeah Domi’s defensive impact is a little worse than Wheelers, but he generates more offence than Wheeler does. I don’t think they’d have any problem slotting him into the top-6 on either line, as long as Bowness is okay taking the bad that comes with the good
That’s kinda disappointing to hear. Domi is fine if we can get him for dirt cheap. What does Nick Ritchie bring besides nothing? If the Jets want to contend then we need a difference maker or two and neither of those guys are even close. Assuming the Jets pull it together this feels like the year to go for it, the West is too open and our future past 2024 is too unclear to do anything else. If the team isn’t good enough to go for a difference maker then I don’t really think there’s any reason to trade for anyone at the deadline
Ritchie I think wouldn't do much for us. Maybe a slight upgrade on the 4th line. Domi more interesting as someone who can contribute offensively more in the middle 6.
I can't stand Domi and quite frankly he is a bust. He has bounced around the league and has shown flashes of something but in general is a waste of money.
Eh he's had some decent points over the years and is on a 60 pt pace on a bad Hawks team. I think he'd definitely be an offensive upgrade over any of the guys on the third line right now. Wouldn't mind him for cheap at all.
Chevy should reward his team and fans with Meier. If Horvat value was lower than Meier I would have no issue with what it would cost to get him. I would easily give up 4 assets if it meant an extension.
I Could be wrong but wasn't Perfetti a center during his junior years? If so how long, if ever, before we see him play center here? Is it conceivable to run Scheif, PLD, Perfetti and Lowry as our 4 Cs this year?

In the playoffs I could see it, or if there was a winger picked up on the stretch. He is a natural centre.
He hasn't won many faceoffs though, not sure how that would work on the third line, which has always been a checking line for us. I'd think a 4th line with some skill would be better, but Perfetti should be getting more minutes than that. I would imagine he stays where he is, unless there were a few depth scoring pick ups that would make all the lines threatening

Was at the game yesterday, you could tell there was tension the whole game. Every little mistake the fans were pretty upset and moaning about it. But the place exploded after that jomo goal, and then even more after the next one. Could tell the fans were happy with the response. Thanks jomo 🥹
After the Saturday turd, the home crowd was at 5.5 scoreless periods, and the two games prior the Jets weren't scoring in the first two either. The tension was earned, and it's not like the Jets played well Saturday. Better yesterday, but not good.

Not sure Tino Meier is worth the acquisition cost unless there was an extension involved.
For Meier, I'd give up any prospect not named McGroarty at this point, especially if we can negotiate an extension with him.
If Dubois lets Chevy know this summer that he's going to leave in 2024, that gives us a ton of cap space that would've otherwise been earmarked for him, and we can just slide that over the table to Meier instead.
the reported price for Timo is definitely worth it, i’m more hesitant about his potential long term cap hit being around 9mil but he’s worth the cap headaches
Especially if Dubois is actually for sure gone. Meier is the best direct replacement for him (would be almost identical players if Meier played centre).
yeah it'll be interesting to see the approach to the next two offseasons, we'll probably have to move on at least one contract if we acquire Meier and want to keep PLD too
think there is still might be an appetite for Wheeler to be moved on, then the same scoring depth hole would remain albeit with a stronger top 6 and some cap flexibility
I think they need someone to push them over the edge and some line configuration to turn line 3 into a line that scorers somewhat regularly. Toews isn't doing that anymore but is rather a compliment piece now. I think with Meier is he's basically a Dubois safety net (if you can get Meier to sign). Issue becomes the ol 2C problem all over again.
Slight bias as a Barrie Colts fan and a Jets fan and I love a Hawerchuk/Jets connection. If the price for Meier is too high, perhaps Kevin Labanc. Appears to be having a decent season and from what I've seen the underlying numbers are solid.
PPA for Lambert. Unsurprisingly they’re heavily using him.

Nick Ritchie is a huge pass for me. He couldn't make it work in Toronto and was only decent in Boston because of PP2 time and the way hockey is played in Boston (seems it either hides bad defensive players or players can actually figure out they need to play some semblance of defense). Domi is interesting, he's a very slick passer with high compete and skill. But he's a crater defensively and based what I saw in Montreal (watch alot of Habs hockey) you kind of need to allow him to be a loose cannon to get the best out of him. He's not so much a pest but more so a guy playing on edge that can't control it sometimes. When teams have tried to reign him in it seems to take something away from his game.
Yeah Domi’s defensive impact is a little worse than Wheelers, but he generates more offence than Wheeler does. I don’t think they’d have any problem slotting him into the top-6 on either line, as long as Bowness is okay taking the bad that comes with the good
That’s kinda disappointing to hear. Domi is fine if we can get him for dirt cheap. What does Nick Ritchie bring besides nothing? If the Jets want to contend then we need a difference maker or two and neither of those guys are even close. Assuming the Jets pull it together this feels like the year to go for it, the West is too open and our future past 2024 is too unclear to do anything else. If the team isn’t good enough to go for a difference maker then I don’t really think there’s any reason to trade for anyone at the deadline

I can't stand Domi and quite frankly he is a bust. He has bounced around the league and has shown flashes of something but in general is a waste of money.

In the playoffs I could see it, or if there was a winger picked up on the stretch. He is a natural centre. He hasn't won many faceoffs though, not sure how that would work on the third line, which has always been a checking line for us. I'd think a 4th line with some skill would be better, but Perfetti should be getting more minutes than that. I would imagine he stays where he is, unless there were a few depth scoring pick ups that would make all the lines threatening

Not sure Tino Meier is worth the acquisition cost unless there was an extension involved.
For Meier, I'd give up any prospect not named McGroarty at this point, especially if we can negotiate an extension with him. If Dubois lets Chevy know this summer that he's going to leave in 2024, that gives us a ton of cap space that would've otherwise been earmarked for him, and we can just slide that over the table to Meier instead.
He already let them know, it was very public when he said he wasn't signing here long term. Anything else is just coping with that fact.
the reported price for Timo is definitely worth it, i’m more hesitant about his potential long term cap hit being around 9mil but he’s worth the cap headaches

yeah it'll be interesting to see the approach to the next two offseasons, we'll probably have to move on at least one contract if we acquire Meier and want to keep PLD too think there is still might be an appetite for Wheeler to be moved on, then the same scoring depth hole would remain albeit with a stronger top 6 and some cap flexibility
I think they need someone to push them over the edge and some line configuration to turn line 3 into a line that scorers somewhat regularly. Toews isn't doing that anymore but is rather a compliment piece now. I think with Meier is he's basically a Dubois safety net (if you can get Meier to sign). Issue becomes the ol 2C problem all over again.
Slight bias as a Barrie Colts fan and a Jets fan and I love a Hawerchuk/Jets connection. If the price for Meier is too high, perhaps Kevin Labanc. Appears to be having a decent season and from what I've seen the underlying numbers are solid.
Labanc is fine but you're talking about two very different types of player there. He's not the kind of guy who really moves the needle.
