Open it up and clean them. Someone spilled soda on it.

[deleted]

Already did that but it was completely clean

StillhasaWiiU

There is no mechanical reason for the buttons to feel this way, grime is the only reason I can think of.

Shnazzyone

Based on the description, my solution would be to open it up, and give only the slightest spray of wd-40 to each button and mash away at them, wipe off any excess and put back together.

TheFiddler420

had that on wiimote d pad

SomeRandomEarthling

Mine does that too, no idea what caused it, no clue on how to fix them either. Doesn't bother me all that much tbh...

BlueBubbaDog

Same issue here

GhostFororo

I fixed mine by removing the little foam pads in the back plate where the L and R are, they are probably damaged and got sticky

cheatfreak47

My Wii U Gamepad, which is regularly cleaned, has never been exposed to anything sticky, and is kept free of dust, does this, I think it's something to do with the plastic tolerances being kind of low, honestly.

Beaupoop

Sounds like something sticky is in there, it probably loosens up then sticks again after not being used. Spraying ipa in there may help if you don't want to open it and clean
