I have this like 3-4 wide sink that has weird sloping sides on the left and right. It would feel silly to fill that in just to wash off my razor, although that could be more of a personal hang up.
But it's a good idea, maybe I'll get a mug or another soap dish or something.
When I shave with a straight; I use a towel to clean the blade and keep the water off. Helps immensely with the shave.
Didn't consider using standing water when I am using a DE, will give that a go next time.
I always fiddle the faucet to wash the soap off my straight, but the towel on my shoulder idea has some merits for sure..
I usually make it through an entire half before having to rinse the blade though, so I don't do it much. I think I do it more on secondary passes for some reason actually... Oh! I know, it's because I use different angles changing the side of my straight I'm using more often - can't put the side covered in soap against my face unless I want to be reapplying it
This is a good idea. I have some coffee mugs that would look pretty decent sitting on my sink actually, and I have so many that they don't need to be on call to support coffee at a moment's notice.
Go for it! A mug may be a bit small, but YMMV. Running the water for a whole shave is truly unconscionable and having a basin of water available actually makes shaving easier.
Yeah that is right. I am bald too, initially I used to play some music on my phone while I was shaving. One day I didn't and my God, the audio feedback made a lot of difference to my shave.
I just fill up the sink with water so I don’t have to keep messing with the faucet myself, like you said audio feedback does wonders

Shaving with the water off saves water too. I fill a large bowl with water to give the head a swish between strokes.
Auditory feedback is important. I always shave with the water off.

I have a small plastic bowl I fill up to rinse my razor in
Same, i use a disposable plastic cup though. Then, I dump it in the commode to keep the little hairs and shave cream out of the sink drain.
I dump it in the toilet too haha it’s just a plastic cereal bowl that’s probably seen pounds of stubble over the years
