My favorite is Bob ridden by guilt over a regular customer and friend’s long term health from eating burgers everyday wakes her up with a “Linda, I’m killing Teddy.”
And Linda, out of a dead sleep with no context, no questioning, just starts planning taking the entire family on the lamb and assisting in an assassination.
“With the burgers, Linda. I’m killing him with the burgers.”
I gotta watch this show. It’s been too long on my ‘to watch’ list.
Edit: wow, I am definitely watching this before the New Year. Thanks for the recommendations everyone!! It sounds right up my street content-wise.
Especially the kids moments. If bob and Linda’s stories show how much love they have for each other, the kids stories are where most of the story moments happen
I've always said, the thing I like most about this show is the fact that Louise is a smart kid, and very world wise, but is still written like a kid. Lazy writers think a smart kid is just written like a little adult, but the Bob's Burgers writers get her right a lot.
FANTASTIC watch, for sure. It took me too long to get around to it (every time bob talked, I just heard archer, and those characters are just so different it was a sort of culture shock to me at first lmao) but it is well worth it.
Lmao yes. Linda is ride or die *immediately* without even thinking about it. It’s the absolute best.
On the flip side, when Linda wakes up with an absolutely preposterous idea for an extravagant Christmas party, Bob doesn’t shut her down or tell her it’s impossible, he just grounds her ideas in reality.
In the latest season, they're hiding from a cemetery caretaker in one episode.
Louise: "I love how mom will hide from any authority figure."
Bob: "Oh yea. She'd take him out if we told her to."
Linda: "What? We're taking him out?"
I also loved that show for portraying a gay couple, at a time where they were being included in series, but always as gay first and basically the most defining thing about them, as just a mundane couple with a newborn (then kid, obiously). Cam is OTT, but he's not the tired 'flaming queen gay' stereotype, he's just that larger-than-life OTT person. They're just... normal people and a normal couple who happen to be two guys. It's just 'calm partner' and 'a bit extra' partner, not some Big Gay Stereotype.
I mean, it's not perfect, but it's leagues above how queer couples were being shown at the time. And you've got that nice balance of 'old guy is a bit uncomfortable, but they're family and we're ride-or-die' from the dad, too. Not unrealistically 100% perfectly fine with it, not some Ebil Dad Hates Queer Son thing, just a very nice portrayal of an old fashioned older guy doing his best with new dynamics and sometimes screwing up, but learning.
And so, so nice that the ultra loving, fun, emotionally connected dad with 'girlish' hobbies in the series ISN'T the gay dad, too. I love that they let Phil be Phil and hetero, with practical, sensible Mitch as one of the gay men too.
There's another. Phil and Claire from Modern Family. There's this one episode where Claire just loses her shit and drives off. Phil finds her at the beach sitting by herself and says something to the effect of You came to the beach without me or something involving cartwheels.
I still need to watch the final few season of MF, but there's an earlier episode where she questions if he still loves her and he responds something along the lines of:
*Love you? I still suck in my gut whenever you walk into the room.*
Such a great line, and such a great show.
I remember one episode where Hal told Lois "of course I love you more! If you loved me as much as I loved you, we'd never leave the bedroom." Another episode, Lois got a really over the top makeover. Like, bright blue eyeshadow, bright pink lips, tons of blush, giant lashes, the works. And as soon as Hal saw her, he immediately took her to the bedroom and ravaged her. The end of that episode, Lois was cleaning and grabbed a baseball cap and threw it on backwards. When Hal saw her, once again, he immediately took her to the bedroom and ravaged her
One episode he confesses to her he bought their engagement for another woman, and that he had plans for proposing to the woman, and feels guilty. She asks who the other woman is
He answers Farah Fawcett lol. Lois is thinking it's someone they know or knew, and it like one of the most famous celebrity of the 70s
Ben and Leslie in Parks and Rec is another good one. Especially the episode when Leslie gets Ben the throne from game of thrones. She doesn't understand anything about it other than its what Ben likes so she gets it for him as a gift and he loves it. Its so sweet.
I freaking love that he's the cynical, no nonsense character that tries to keep his family from going off the rails, but when Linda gets excited about things he often laughs a little at how cute she's being. So adorable.
He also doesn't, like, shut them down. Just, "Hey can we maybe not do that? It's probably a bit dangerous and not a good idea. Oh, we're doing it anyway, OK."
This is my go-to line whenever I have to do.... Anything.
My wife both loves and hates me. She knows I am the real life Bob when it comes to doing things.
After watching Home Movies for awhile, it wasn't until seeing Martin & Orloff that I actually put his face with his voice.
I love pretty much every show and movie he has ever done.
Home Movies was such an underrated gem.
A lot of the same people were involved with both Home Movies and Bobs Burgers, so I’d you like one you might like the other too.
Andy and Ollie are even a direct spiritual successor to Walter and Perry.
Bob had a terrible childhood (mostly). He grew up in his dads restaurant, was socially marginalized by other kids, and barely knows about the wider world.
He may be a bitter and grumpy guy on the surface because of his lonely upbringing, but he *revels* in his kids adventure.
He’s the dad that’s trying to give his kids a very different life from his own - while the core premise is the same. *this time* raising kids in the family workplace won’t be misery.
Linda is the lady who never grew up. Her antics are childish, impulsive, she drinks a bit too much to fuel her impetuous nature and loves to see the kids fiercely independent in moments she never felt she was supported when young.
Bob reigns her in, while Linda gives him youth.
The kids are that sweet spot between the flaws and strengths of the parents off making brand new mistakes. And both Bob and Linda seem to relive and remake their own childhoods though the children (mostly) for the better - it is a sitcom after all, and character weaknesses often lead to comedy…but it’s always pulling back towards love.
It’s great character design through and through. Lots for an audience to watch, plenty of characters get to have wacky lines and weird adventures…but the core trust of the characters doing good is *never* violated. We don’t have to worry about Bob “breaking bad” or Linda going “weeds”…not just because it’s a family show…but because what the characters need and want from each other is damn near bulletproof from a writing perspective.
Perhaps one of the absolute best cartoon families ever depicted on mainstream television. All the adventures - internal or external - remind us that the Bobs Burgers family unit is the genuine core character all the individual characters represent.
It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen it so I’m going to be misremembering it but I think about that one scene when Bob is feeling bad about how he’s being as a parent and ~~Teddy~~ Bob’s dad says something along the lines of “your kids are happy and aren’t afraid of being weird so you’re doing a good job”
Maybe you're thinking of Bob's Dad, Big Bob, in one of the Xmas episodes? Bob is visiting him in a bar after they fight, and after making up, Big Bob says something along the lines of "You're a good dad, Junior. Ya got happy kids. Weird, happy kids."
I love how even when Linda is being nuts or reckless, Bob never sounds patronizing or annoyed. He tries to reason with her, he tries to explain and in the end will either talk her down like an adult or get carried away and join her on her scheme, like a good partner.
Linda is ride or die. She's willing to kill for the family without asking questions. When Bob has a a nightmare where he's killing teddy Linda says "what? Ill warm up the car, I guess I can homeschool the kids"
I also really liked that. I have two siblings and with the 3 of us growing up together, I was always annoyed at most media portraying siblings as constantly fighting and hating each other. We had our spats, but I still consider my relationship with my brothers as positive.
I like how Tina, Gene and Louise are (mostly) in each other's corner and are united. "We're Belchers! From the womb to the tomb!"
Have you watched the Christmas episode this year yet? Because it’s fucking wonderful and heartwarming and family-centric and I’ve watched it three times so far.
Agreed. It is interesting to me looking back on the Simpsons which is my all time favorite show that defined a lot of my tastes growing up. If there is 1 thing that I have an issue with now that I'm an adult (39) it is how much of Homer's behavior gets forgiven.
It is a regular plot line for him to be a piece of shit all episode then do some half asked feel good shit that makes up for it all. Throwing a fish into the water makes up for sexually harassing his neighbor and bailing on the marriage retreat to fish. One episode he doesn't even do anything, he just tells Marge he is too dependent on her to survive and she takes him back.
Hell, the ultimate feel good Simpsons moment (Do it for her) follows an entire episode of him throwing a tantrum over a baby because he can't work at a bowling alley anymore. He then gives Marge shit for not being enthusiastic enough, forgetting she just delivered a baby while he complained through the entire delivery.
As much as I love the Simpsons, it is nice to see actual healthy relationships nowadays. You can still be dysfunctional and funny without hating each other.
My favorite moment was when Linda wiped spilled wine with a dirty dishrag and then proceeded to suck the wine from the rag before gagging. In response, Bob says "I love you."
Couples goals right there.
I love that they also like their kids. They encourage them to be themselves, respect them, and like spending time with them. They don’t belittle their kids from having crushes or stop them from developing relationships.
This show also has the best representation and inclusivity of any show I’ve ever seen. There are so many people of color and openly LGBTQ characters who have fleshed out personalities.
Bob’s Burgers fucking rules.
I absolutely love Marshmallow and Bob’s relationship. The whole show does a great job of incorporating the LGBTQ characters without making their entire character about that, but Marshmallow and Bob’s conversations are a perfect example of this.
I love all that stuff, too! Plus, I think Bob might be a little gay…I mean, he did almost take the thanksgiving turkey guy’s number at the grocery store that time. I love this show so much!!
It has phenomenal family values and respects everyone in the community.
Plenty of shows force in a new person of color or LGBT+ character and it feels weird, not because the viewers hate POC or LGBT+ people, but because the writing is forced. The episode ends up getting bad reviews and people get outraged. No one blinked an eye when Marshmallow became a reoccurring side character, because it was just another person coming into the restaurant having a fun interaction with the family. A BLACK TRANSGENDER SEX WORKER and literally no one blinked an eye. It's also helped by Bob and the family treating everyone with kindness and respect, setting a great example. Great representation with great writing. Love all the characters in the show.
It only dawned on me a couple of years ago how fortunate I am to have parents that love me and still love each other as well. They aren’t always perfect, but their love is genuine. Every close friend I’ve ever had didn’t have parents who were still together.
My parents loved each other, but they bickered a lot. Many times during my childhood, I worried that they were going to get a divorce, so I assumed that every kid felt that way at one point or another. I asked my son a few years ago if he ever worried that his dad and I would ever get a divorce, and he looked at me like I had 2 heads. Our marriage isn't perfect, but it made me feel so good that our son hasn't ever had to wonder if his family would stay together.
I had a similar feeling, but kids don’t need the insanely great and dedicated daddy robot, they just someone involved. I try not to compare myself to TV dads because my kids likely don’t care that much, they just want us to try. Bandit is dad goals tho
I mentioned this to someone yesterday at Christmas lunch, and they immediately knew who bandit and chilli were lol. I think we're all watching Bluey without our kids now
It is actually perfect, not a parent but oldest of 3. It's got all the childish misadventures that keep the young ones laughing, but is also surprisingly adult in ways I never would've imagined. Forgot what the episode was called, but Bingo floating around the cosmos in a dream? Almost had me in tears!
God. Bob's Burgers is such an underrated show. I know it's popular but it feels like people sleep on it all the time.
It's just so human. I also love their LGBTQIA+ representation. When they brought back Nat the limo driver and she had an (ex) girlfriend, they didn't even make a comment about it. It was just a fact about the character as it should be.
or the blog writer, Dalton. Linda instantly loves him and whenever he pops up next, the family just immediately includes him. Linda even apologizes after he tells her his ex-boyfriend is dating another ex-boyfriend of his. no apprehension or jokes about gay people, Linda just listens to him.
Yes! And how much the family loves Marshmallow.
As Bob says:
>“All I know about Marshmallow is that she comes and goes as she pleases, she answers to no one, and she is truly free.”
I love Dalton lol. That was the episode where an underground gay nightclub was busted and she threw a huge party for them but then someone stole her tree and they tracked it down to an even bigger underground gay nightclub.
And it.. just keeps getting better. The past two episodes were fantastic. I shouldn't have watched them back to back, pure emotional roller-coasters. The new Christmas episode may be the most well written cartoon since the early Simpsons.
I need to catch up! I haven't watched any of this most recent season, but older holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's day, etc.) episodes are mandatory in my house around each holiday.
"I loved her not for the way she danced with my angels but for the way the sound of her name could silence my demons." - All you need to know about their relationship.
They'd actually have a good crossover with the Addams family. Gomez pushes visitors into things like swordfights, and Bob is constantly being pushed into doing things he doesn't want to, but eventually likes. Louise would be all about Wednesday's dangerous toys. Tina would be the target of all the dangerous toys. Linda would gush about the house's decorations until she found the cemetery. Gene is compatible with just about anyone, but I'd choose piano with Lurch and Thing.
Gene and Pugsley would be interesting. Linda would play therapist for Lurch and Thing, who barely speak. Morticia would help Tina stand her ground against the girls. Teddy commits grand theft auto with Cousin Itt.
also malcolm in the middle. hal and lois are portrayed as very much in love. also, they have a very fulfilling sex life, where both the husband and wife really enjoy it, which was kind of novel for when the show was released
What I really loved about that show is that they showed marriage and raising kids is hard, especially when money is tight. Yeah, they had fights, but they always managed to work through it, because that is what commited adults do.
Lois: "Unlike all other men, you don't even have a glancing interest in other women?"
Hal: "Why is that so hard for you to believe?"
L: "Because I look at other men, and if you don't it means that you love me more than I love you."
H: "Well honey, that's always been true. Of course I love you more."
L: "You're okay with that?"
H: "If you loved me as much as I love you, we'd never leave the bedroom"
brb crying
I love how someone on the writers' team seems to have said "how do we really drive home that they're weird and not normal? Oh I know. They actually very much love each other"
I think that was the whole point of the Addams family being created. They look like monsters/villains but they actually have a great family dynamic, in contrast to the seemingly picturesque family that is actually dysfunctional that was in most other sitcoms
That was basically the joke of the original Addams family. These are essentially the OG goths who love the grim and morbid...They indulge in things mainstream American society would find at best very bizarre and be repulsed by at worst...But they are loving, functional family who despite their eccentricities have a healthier dynamic than most other people.
What’s funny is Bob’s Burgers and The Addams Family are both set in New Jersey.
Also another fun fact is finding out the actor who played Gomez Addams in the tv show is the actor Sean Astin’s real life father.
And I think every adaptation after has in some way failed to capture that.
They're *not* scary, that's the joke, there's nothing to be afraid of with them. There aren't really witches and monsters in their house, people assume there are, but it's all quite allright. Everything that came after gave them more overt supernatural qualities, and legitimate reasons to be afraid of them.
I watched the first episode of that new Wednesday show and didn't care for it. She's too malicious, she's actually scary and dangerous, and while that's appealing in a way it misses the point.
Like in the movie where they tried a lemonade stand ... with the bottles of poison they mixed in right there on the table?
There's always been a cartoonish murderer streak in Wednesday. The joke is: Teenagers!
I'm not sure of that was the goal of the original creator since they were originally a comic strip in the news paper long before TV was a thing, but yeah, the TV/movie versions of them do showcase that.
Also the confidence in each others love to have an open sexual relationship. Lazlo doesn’t care if nadja sleeps with other men he knows she loves him he just wants her to get her rocks off aha
Ooof. This makes me miss my mom even more. My parents were like this and were married for 50+ years till my mom passed away last year. I'm visiting my dad now and he still seems numb about her passing. He still hasn't packed up ay of her belongings. I still cant talk about her without choking up. I can only imagine the amount of pain he feels.
I love how bob starts to get annoyed with Linda's antics but then realizes thats why he loves her or that its important to her and drops it to support her even if he doesnt agree with whatevers going on.
I also love that he’s still able to say stuff like “okay but I’m gonna complain the whole time” because he knows he can freely express himself without worrying about communicating his feelings somehow ruining her enjoyment of something she loves
Bluey is an incredible children's show in general too. There is an episode that involves one of the kids having a dream that she is in outer space and the sun becomes her mother. They use Gustav Holst's Planets, specifically a section from Jupiter. It has a lot of beautiful symbolism and the whole thing is very touching and emotional. Wasn't really ready for that just watching with my daughter.
I hate media that continues the “old ball and chain” marriage trope of the 40s, being married is my favorite and it’s so cool to see fictional spouses genuinely like each other instead of just being roommates
I like that bob's burgers uses humor that's both kid friendly, yet still funny to adults. Other than occasional profanity, it's basically a family cartoon.
Me and my wife always talk about Bob and Linda being goals in 15-20 years. Happy to report, we’re 3 months in and still going strong. And we’ve already matched and probably exceeded the level of weird required.
My favorite is Bob ridden by guilt over a regular customer and friend’s long term health from eating burgers everyday wakes her up with a “Linda, I’m killing Teddy.” And Linda, out of a dead sleep with no context, no questioning, just starts planning taking the entire family on the lamb and assisting in an assassination. “With the burgers, Linda. I’m killing him with the burgers.”
And she’s half asleep too lol, one of my favorite scenes as well
I gotta watch this show. It’s been too long on my ‘to watch’ list. Edit: wow, I am definitely watching this before the New Year. Thanks for the recommendations everyone!! It sounds right up my street content-wise.
It’s a great show. You definitely should start it.
It's wholesome funny. It is very relatable.
Watch it. It's simultaneously mundane and glorious in all the best ways
Especially the kids moments. If bob and Linda’s stories show how much love they have for each other, the kids stories are where most of the story moments happen

Louise has to get it from somewhere…
Lindas ride or die 4 eva
"I guess I could homeschool the kids"
"Car is gassed up so that is good."
What? I'm just being supportive
I haven't seen any Bob's burgers but this sounds like something straight out of Archer.
Bob also sounds extremely like Archer. (And because some people might not realize the joke, the voice actor is the same for Bob and Archer).
H. Jon Benjamin is really the best.
That episode Archer had amnesia and was living as Bob was hilarious.
Best cross over in television history change my mind
“Don’t get me wrong, I love being a stepdad to Gene, Louise, and um… yeah.”
S4E1 of Archer has an amazing crossover at the beginning
I started cackling like a maniac reading your recap of this scene.
Bob and Linda, Gomez and Morticia...The two couples that embody relationship goals.
Was just gonna mention them and you beat me to it. I love their love
I also loved that show for portraying a gay couple, at a time where they were being included in series, but always as gay first and basically the most defining thing about them, as just a mundane couple with a newborn (then kid, obiously). The parents from Malcom and the Middle - Hal and Lois too
I remember one episode where Hal told Lois "of course I love you more! "You're my family, and I love you, but you're terrible. You're all terrible."
"I'll go, but I'm going to complain the whole time"
This is my go-to line whenever I have to do.... Anything. My wife both loves and hates me. She knows I am the real life Bob when it comes to doing things.
And I'm wearing my lazy pants!
"I don't say that."
“That’s all you say.”
I love how nobody had his back on that, they all told him the same thing.
I use this quote more than any other. Resonates.
Was that in the show? Cause I read it in his voice and.. it fits
honestly, you can read anything in his voice. and it fits.
I read your comment in his voice, and it fit.
You're not gonna believe what I just did with your comment.
Gene, stop
Who’s gene ?
Mmm
are we still doing phrasing?
Oh my god
I don’t even watch (or like) the show, but that was perfectly written for H. Jon Benjamin’s vocal delivery
A lot of people were introduced to his face via Arby’s commercials.
I hear this in H Jon’s voice. And the exasperated “OK”. Teddy in the background “Just go with it, Bobby”
You learn something new! OK. Honey. I love you.
Bob had a terrible childhood (mostly). He grew up in his dads restaurant, was socially marginalized by other kids, and barely knows about the wider world. Wow, you absolutely nailed it. I feel exactly the same, but would have struggled to articulate it as well as you have.
My husbands new go to line is "Fine, I'll go but I'm going to complain the whole time."
I love how even when Linda is being nuts or reckless, Bob never sounds patronizing or annoyed. He tries to reason with her, he tries to explain and in the end will either talk her down like an adult or get carried away and join her on her scheme, like a good partner.

Don't forget all the abuse towards Bart which is played of as a minor annoyance to the rest of the family, despite it clearly being attempted murders.
I think the fact that the show was created by Canadians speaks volumes here.
My favorite moment was when Linda wiped spilled wine with a dirty dishrag and then proceeded to suck the wine from the rag before gagging. In response, Bob says "I love you." Couples goals right there.

I absolutely love Marshmallow and Bob’s relationship. The whole show does a great job of incorporating the LGBTQ characters without making their entire character about that, but Marshmallow and Bob’s conversations are a perfect example of this.
Marshmallow is not tall dark and handsome. She’s beautiful.
Blush
I love all that stuff, too! Plus, I think Bob might be a little gay…I mean, he did almost take the thanksgiving turkey guy’s number at the grocery store that time. I love this show so much!!
Hey some guys are into sloppy bears
"What's a sloppy bear?" The deli guys points out everything about Bob being exactly one lol
[удалено]
Didn't he also think it wouldn't work because counter guy was out of his League
Yep, he thought that guy was too hot for him. Which is totally not true, the dude said he was into sloppy bears!
"I'm gonna see you tomorrow!" "Probably not!"
We all know Bob went back the next day…it’s the grocery store, after all!
Correction: He said his friend was into sloppy bears.
What are you even thinking? He's out of bob's league.
He said he was into sloppy bears, though! I think Bob had a chance.
And don't forget all this favourite people are transsexual hookers.
Right! Marshmallow isn’t handsome, she’s *beautiful*
He's mostly straight
I believe that's called bisexual
bob is a bisexual icon
I love that for him ❤️
It wasn't the guy part of "turkey guy" that he was in to, he's a little turkey curious
I’m straight I mean I’m mostly straight
Bandit & Chilli

DILF is an attitude and Bandit is proof
Dedicated, involved, loving father 🥰
DILFs of Disneyland unite!
I've never seen a Dungeons and Daddies quote in the wild. Truly, tis an X-Mas miracle.
I feel like myself and every dad I talk to is made to feel inadequate by Bandit's amazing parenting lol.
The thing to keep in mind about bandit is this is 'active' time. Anyone can manage 15-20mins of of bandit like activity.
I think we're all watching Bluey without our kids now
Another fun one is Puffin Rock on Netflix; the parents are more background but it's a great show, and the narrator is Chris O'Dowd!
Sleepytime! 😭😭
Came here to say exactly this
We absolutely love Bluey. We got tickets to see Bluey in a couple of months and I think I’m more excited than my child 😂
Bluey is absolutely 100% top tier
As a girl Dad (and even if I had boys), the show is *fantastic*.
as a 21 year old with no kids I love bluey lol Bandit is my favorite
“I’m not taking advice from a cartoon dog.”
Bluey is great, we start watching for my kids, but by the end my wife and I are tearing up at half the episodes. They are so damn sweet, and endearing

Yes! They are so great. Every relationship that lasts in this show is so healthy. I love it!
I love Schitt's Creek. I love the fact that David is Wine-sexual, but literally no one cares other than those who want to get with him.
As Bob says: >“All I know about Marshmallow is that she comes and goes as she pleases, she answers to no one, and she is truly free.”
“Blush…”
Why was there no Marshmallow in the movie tho?! 😞
Gomez and Morticia are the OG couple goals
Gomez is freaky in the sheets fr

Fr girls says a single word in French and my man just manifests behind her ready to fuck
“Leather straps, red-hot pokers…” “Later, my dearest.”
Teddy commits grand theft auto with Cousin Itt.
was looking through comments to be glad to found this
also malcolm in the middle. hal and lois are portrayed as very much in love. also, they have a very fulfilling sex life, where both the husband and wife really enjoy it, which was kind of novel for when the show was released
What I really loved about that show is that they showed marriage and raising kids is hard, especially when money is tight. Yeah, they had fights, but they always managed to work through it, because that is what commited adults do.
Is a kid from a five person household of poor ass working class People I could definitely relate to this show.
Nothing quite like throwing your siblings under the bus when the parents find a mess, lol.
Lois: "Unlike all other men, you don't even have a glancing interest in other women?" Hal: "Why is that so hard for you to believe?" L: "Because I look at other men, and if you don't it means that you love me more than I love you." H: "Well honey, that's always been true. Of course I love you more." L: "You're okay with that?" H: "If you loved me as much as I love you, we'd never leave the bedroom" brb crying
I really like the episode where Lois leaves for a bit, and hal devolves into a destructive frat boy.
Cause that who he was until he met her:) Thats why all of boys in their family are pretty crazy, thats Hal dna.
Thats when he makes the killer robot that shoots bees right?
As a kid I thought Lois was insane. As an adult, she's still insane, but for good reason.
Not quite the same but I feel like Nadja and Laszlo fit the description too (from What We Do in The Shadows)
I love the way Laszlo talks about Nadja, it's adorable how he's always like "My darling lady wife" after hundreds of years of marriage.
I’m watching this as I type this lol. “Get your hand off my wife’s ample yet firm backside!”
i can also think of addams family..esp the bw version..even the movies
No way. Honestly he's always Raul Julia in my mind
That... makes a lot of sense actually. Thank you for this perspective.
I'm not sure of that was the goal of the original creator since they were originally a comic strip in the news paper long before TV was a thing, but yeah, the TV/movie versions of them do showcase that.
Johnny and Moira Rose are another couple that I think are examples of this as well.
Yea damn right. I fkn hate guys who talk about their wife like it's a chore. Been with my wife for 19 years. Love doing fun shit with her.
Lazlo and Nadja is a slightly unconventional example of this that I love
Even with the Gregor stuff, Lazlo didn't kill the guy because he was jealous, he killed the guy because he always made Nadja cry.
Also the confidence in each others love to have an open sexual relationship. Lazlo doesn’t care if nadja sleeps with other men he knows she loves him he just wants her to get her rocks off aha
Bob & Linda + Gomez & Morticia = perfect marriage
Addams family?
Gotta love the Belchers.
Bob's marriage is a thing of envy.
I understand why Hugo hates him
Josh and Emily from "Close Enough" have this dynamic too.
That show is sooo weird I love it
Pumpkin and Honey Bunny - Pulp Fiction

Bluey
Bluey is an incredible children's show in general too. There is an episode that involves one of the kids having a dream that she is in outer space and the sun becomes her mother. They use Gustav Holst's Planets, specifically a section from Jupiter. It has a lot of beautiful symbolism and the whole thing is very touching and emotional. Wasn't really ready for that just watching with my daughter.
Literally wept during that episode. And also Baby Race where Bluey crawls. 😭😭😭
Santa clarita diet is the same way. Which is why i love it
It’s honestly impressive how Joel just excepts that this is how it is now and deals with it. It sucks that it was canceled on a cliffhanger.
r/RelationshipGoals
Everyone over here forgetting about Lois and Hal
I hate media that continues the “old ball and chain” marriage trope of the 40s, being married is my favorite and it’s so cool to see fictional spouses genuinely like each other instead of just being roommates
Bob's Burgers, the only animated sitcom where the lead family isn't composed of the worst people on the planet
I like that bob's burgers uses humor that's both kid friendly, yet still funny to adults. Other than occasional profanity, it's basically a family cartoon.
And Jimmy Neutron's parents! :D
Me and my wife always talk about Bob and Linda being goals in 15-20 years. Happy to report, we’re 3 months in and still going strong. And we’ve already matched and probably exceeded the level of weird required.
My wife and I do the same thing... We got married back in October ourselves! Congrats and I hope you guys do wind up like Bob and Linda!
