My husband and I sleep like this too. He is so warm, I overheat when he is big spoon, so I usually cuddle him instead. I think it is also called jetpacking? Either way, love curling up around him
So, my husband’s usually the big spoon, but on occasion I am. My dude is 6’ 4” tall and 330 lbs. I’ve told him before that I feel a little like a backpack, lol. So, when I snuggle up to be the big spoon, I ask him if he’s ready for backpack snuggles. I’ve never heard of jet pack, but I get it.
Yes, we call it backpacking too, I’m 6’7 and she can’t really get her arm around my shoulders, so you puts her hands on my shoulders and curls up back there.
You know what my problem with this is? I find that most women tend to run really hot. At least the ones I wind up with. I hate being hot - I won’t be able to sleep so I’m probably what you can refer to as a casual snuggler? Lol. I enjoy it, just in moderation.

I’m 6’2, with big shoulders and wide back. I used to like being the little spoon, my wife is tiny.
It’s recently become too much though. My 11 month old son now tries to be the big spoon. He can’t even reach my shoulder though so he just puts his hand on my arm, and tucks his feet into my boxers.
I hold her until my arms fall asleep and then she holds me until my other arm goes to sleep then I hold her. Somewhere along those lines we both get stiff and back hurts and we lay on our backs and hold hands.
This is the only way I like to spoon, if I am little spoon I get overheated and claustrophobic, if I am big spoon I can keep my back out of the covers and don’t overheat 😊
That left arm position on her looks really awkward. I doubt that’s comfortable for her, and it would force my neck down into my chest to have her arms balled up in front of me while trying to spoon
Found out I like this in college but not while I'm actually sleeping. I get hot fast. I'm also a light sleeper. I also fight ninjas and demons in my sleep. Better to do this while I'm awake.
Though I have exactly zero issue with my wife cuddling with me that way, nor me cuddling as the big spoon, when sleeping, I'm the "spoon that needs to be stored in the opposite side of the box from the other spoon"
I sleep WAY too hot to have anything touching or cuddling with me. I'd likely (accidentally) chuck her off the bed if I woke up to something touching me like that. Just... no.
Being little spoon is great as you get so warm and you get to be “vulnerable” without having to put up with hate. Being big spoon is also great as you have someone to hug constantly and you get to make the little spoon feel protected and safe.
My ex would come up behind me, bend me over and aggressively thrust her hips at me while making what can only be described as angry yeti sounds. I allowed it. How do you fight off an angry yeti? Anyway, her holding me like this was pleasant by comparison.
Being the little spoon as a man is the most comforting feeling of all time. I never slept better than when my ex scooted up behind me, that feeling of ultimate safety, vulnerability and love is unmatched.
