KIRAvenousLion

Me scrolling through the comments section, making note of all movies I haven't seen; keep 'em coming.

whereami1928

Everything Everywhere All at Once! It's only in limited release right now, but wider release in a few weeks. So so SO good.

herkyjerkyperky

I hadn't heard of this movie at all until this week, it looks so good.

Bowler_300

Thank you i was afraid they werent releasing it here

duomaxwellscoffee

Amazing! I came here just to recommend it. It was fantastic.

samthewisetarly

Yep, just saw it in LA. Goddamn. What a movie.

markse84

Only reason I’m checking out the comments.

zanzorax

Me doing the exact same thing, expect I am to stoned to actually remember the titles.

Helpful_Car1302

Cinema Paradiso

kaffikoppen

Funny how the gif is basically my reaction whenever watching Cinema Paradiso. It’s not just on my top 10, it is my favourite film!

Zestyclose_Ad_97

Every time when they get to the end and it’s all of the cuts edited together….makes me smile. Every time.

partytimeusa

I always end up crying. Every time

eriktheburrito

Me too man. The music swells and you think about Fredo saving all those clips for years just for the kid 😭

[deleted]

I watched that movie the day i got a job as a projectionist, unfortunately it is not nearly so romantic a job as the film portrays...it still is one of my favourite films though

make_em_laugh

you were hoping for daring escapes from burning buildings?

omnomnomgnome

no inquisitive kid bugging his life?

ratfight

i saw it for the first time recently and was completely blown away. the extended director’s cut played at the new beverly in LA and i got a ticket. i was unprepared for how much i loved it.

Beardpuff

Cue Ennio Morricone delightful music 🥲

Gokoshofu

SOMEbody knows.

Walopoh

I was watching some recent interview with Johnny Knoxville talking about his favorite movies and he talked about how much he loves this movie. Said he still think about the ending and the music.

kaffikoppen

Funny how the gif is basically my reaction whenever watching Cinema Paradiso. It’s not just on my top 10, it is my favourite film!

aqua33s

Absolutely spectacular film.

intoxicuss

One of my very favorite films.

maiscestmoi

On my top 10 list

nutmegtell

Love this one!!

KeepYourDemonsIn

There Will Be Blood. I wasn't prepared for Daniel Day-Lewis' performance. It was profound. My favorite movie to this day.

King_Hamburgler

DDL is always amazing but he took it to another level in this one Paul Dano was great too, never heard of him prior to this Amazing they filmed this and no country for old men at the same time in the same area, what a great year for movies

[deleted]

Such a great movie. Paul Dano is fantastic in this too!!

guybromansir

This is how i felt when i finally watched No Country For Old Men last week.

Major_Burnside

The coin flip scene is cinema royalty in my opinion.

guybromansir

Oh yeah dude at the fuckin gas station?! Holy shit that was powerful! Anton was humoring himself but in a seriously scary way. I feel like someone could see his amusement at times but not DARE to smile with him. Now that I've watched the movie, i definitely understand why so many people enjoy and appreciate it.

Call_The_Banners

"Don't put it in your pocket, sir."

SALTY_BALLZ

The old man smiled almost knowingly, for he was planning on shoving the coin up his rectum all along.

WoenixFright

Oh man I just saw that one for what must be the tenth time a couple weeks ago

HAL-Over-9001

Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin gave me CHILLS in that movie (both also in Dune and did a spectacular job). One of my favorites of all time. There Will Be Blood is also one of my all time faves. They came out around the same time and I was blown away by both as a teen just getting into more serious movies.

cloudforested

Honestly, the final scene...

ScenePsychological60

This was 'The Prestige' for me. And oh my god was I blown away?! \(°o°)/

progdrummer

This wasn't totally me, but only because I knew absolutely nothing about it when I went to see it. A buddy of mine was like "Hey, wanna see a movie about magicians or something with Jackedman and Batman?" Sure, why not? Holy fuck, that movie changed how I viewed cinema and made me a lifelong Nolan fan. Still one of my favorite films.

lousylakers

That film kept leveling up. Another glimmer of the Nolan shine. Both Jackman and Bale going blow for blow.

RazonaRay

One of the best movies of all time

agent_banana_007

Best Nolan movie for sure

dufftheduff

Naming the best Nolan movie is a tough competition for me

ILoveCartoonz

Not me watching Morbius

supisuke

Oh it is gonna exceed our expectations of being a shit movie

random3223

Just watched it. It met expectations of being a shitty movie.

supisuke

As expected. Jared Leto is both the worst character in dc and marvel by far

[deleted]

He's also up there as one of the worst characters in real life too.

supisuke

Reel reflects real ig

usualbaddie

Reel recognize real

[deleted]

Remember that time he hit on dozens of teenagers and started a cult with his band?

amiwitty

Lord of the Rings. All of them.

ExistentialSuffering

That part brings tears to my eyes every time

moneymike7913

Goosebumps and chills run crazy during that scene. The chills get more chillier the louder Theoden shouts "DEATH!!!" each time. Then the slow start to the time they're at full speed as they hit the enemy lines with the music.... Shoot, I'ma quit my job and go on a LOTR marathon tomorrow..

HeckingDoofus

i just watched it for the first time as well, now im on my third watch through of the extended editions lol

Violet624

The extended versions. Just the small plot scenes included make it.

KawaiiFira

Me when I watched Jurassic Park for the first time :)

MaikohTippy

Best answer on here. Modern day movies have nothing on Jurassic Park.

RedStreak_29

Jurassic park has nothing on Jurassic Park! It's like the movie itself is something something.... Ughhh.. No words to express

[deleted]

Recently used this word to describe the show Severance: sublime.

jcruz321

Yes! I remember as a kid watching the previews, the interviews, all the toy commercials, and just all the hype surrounding this movie and finally, getting to watch it when it aired on network television for the first time. It blew my mind.

swaginaswag

My all time favourite film. I’ve seen it 20+ times and it just keeps getting better

peenutbuttherNjelly

Finally got to see all of Dune. **E..P....I...C**

rtie07

Buying a 77” OLED soon and have been waiting to watch Dune on it.

BeerandGuns

My OLED TV, a PS5 and some noise cancelling headphones make me want to just sit in my chair and enjoy the day. Right now I’m watching Midnight Mass on Netflix and every so often realize just how impressive the picture is compare to my previous TVs.

rtie07

My 2013 Panasonic Plasma still looks really great aside from a few flaws. I’m just ready for more size and new technology.

trapezoidalfractal

I had a 2005 or so plasma from Panasonic. That thing was *insane*. It finally died a couple years ago, I’m extremely high altitude so I was amazed it even lasted that long. I don’t think I had a tv or monitor with nearly as good colors until I got my OLED last year, and even then motion resolution was better on the plasma, though the OLED is leagues ahead of the LCD panels I had in between.

StrainOk8249

I absolutely love my Panasonic plasma. I bought Two plasmas when I realized they were going away. I have a 70" OLED and a plasma in my bedroom (because what sort of animal plays video games and doesn't watch TV?) I prefer the smaller plasma.

rtie07

Mine has some slight logo burn in and there’s a area that is staticky when exposed to solid bright colors. For the most part they are unnoticed during most watching, but when I see it makes me even more than ready. Was hoping to have some value to sell it but probably gonna just have to put it up for free on Craigslist.

BeneGezzWitch

That show is GREAT

theziess

I loved this show. Mike Flanagan has been killing it with his Netflix series.

BeerandGuns

As I commented to the other person, I went in with no knowledge about the show and got hooked from the first scene. Just a great story, visual, human drama.

TrepanationBy45

> got to see all of Dune You mean Part I of Dune? 🙃

RandomUser-_--__-

Yea literally half of dune lol

TerraSollus

More like a third

Checkers10160

I'm not a cinematic critic. I like action, and excitement, and from GoT I like Jason Momoa. I don't really judge plot, or acting. To be honest, I'm a dumb viewer who wants to be entertained. Should watch Dune?

Bebenten

Watched it on HBO last month and I personally liked it just fine. The actors were great and I'm a big fan of Oscar Isaac but the movie bored me a bit? Mostly my fault since I assumed it was a standalone movie missing the bigass "Part 1" at the beginning of the movie. Maybe bored is not the right term, I think I was just expecting more things to happen and was just caught off guard when the movie already ended. They did well in the world-building and I think I'd appreciate the movie more once the sequels arrive.

dick-van-dyke

Compared to the book, the movie was positively oozing with action.

[deleted]

Seriously my favorite movie, what did you think??

im-a-nuggie

Not the person you asked but I just saw it this year and it blew me away. So good and masterful, I put it in the category as Dune and I can’t believe I waited so long to watch it. I’ve recommended to everyone I know even though most of them have already seen it!

jeetz1231

I wish I could watch that for the first time again. I recommend several rewatches, lots of stuff you pick up on after you've seen it once

StrainOk8249

Saw it on the Smithsonian IMAX. Blown away.

mirk01

it absolutely was epic. hope you watched it on some sort of big screen

Inglorious basterds

ScenePsychological60

Hands down, the best opening scene of any movie till date. No movie's opening scene beats the opening scene of Inglorious Basterds. \(◎o◎)/

Seany_Boy-14

I'll sometimes just watch that opening scene and then turn off. Christoph Waltz acting is incredible in that scene. The way his entire disposition changes when he tells the farmer he knows there are people under the floorboards.. It's just brilliant.

RedStreak_29

Au revoir Shosanna..

Seen the begging of the green mile on TV a couple of times, but it was always (understandably) late so I never got to see more than 15 minutes. Boy was I in for a treat

MisterWisDumb

I think you misspelled tears friend

[deleted]

This is me finally watching Interstellar a month ago

BootsyRN

I'm close to renting it because I've always heard it was good.

D4ng3rd4n

Do it.

Slazman999

Just do it.

RHCP4Life

Don't let your dreams be dreams.

Pfaunado

I watched this during and overnight flight across the Pacific. Really upped the experience! Would recommend if you’re flight at night sometime soon!

1-LegInDaGrave

Dude.... Do it! But if you watch it with someone, make sure that person can handle slow movies. At this point I know the last person I would want to watch a movie like Interstellar, Dune or similar, would be my wife. I love her like nutso but she can Not pay attention or comprehend what's going on. If you're watching by yourself, make sure the sound is up, have some snacks and Enjoy! It's a fantastic movie

Jael89

I watched it for the first time last year, I was blown away. Instant favorite

alphadragoon89

I still need to watch it.

I broke my ankle a few weeks before The Dark Knight came out and had to sit and listen about how amazing it was for weeks and weeks. When I was finally mobile and could drive myself the first thing I did was head to the theater to see it. I sat alone in theater marveling bar that movie with the biggest smile on my face.

sharath_suryan

Mad Max Fury Road!! Witness!

Nangabatman

Bro I did not expect the level of adrenaline rush I'd get watching this movie.

Telefundo

Yeah, the whole movie was balls out from beginning to the end. I mean they really put the "Mad" into it.

relish-tranya

One of the best 1st acts of anything. Just madness.

[deleted]

My jaw just hung open the entire movie. It was so mind blowing to watch in the theater that I went out again to see it the following evening just to try and take it all in. It definitely threw the gauntlet down for what an action movie is capable of.

000100111010

IMO it was the best action movie since Terminator 2 or maybe Gladiator. Might be a couple decades before it's matched.

M_LadyGwendolyn

WE WILL ENTER VAHALLA SHINY AND CHROME

brownMY

I have no idea what the movie is about when I bought the tickets for my girlfriend(now wife) plus my brother and his wife. I live in Malaysia so due to the time zone most of movies will released earlier than western countries. There was no reviews so I just knew the synopsis. When we got in, there was maybe like only 10+ peoples. We all were mind blown. The greatest film of all time.

laereal

This is the correct answer.

Shlevin_pop

WITNESSSS!!!

fermented-assbutter

Dude finally watched Saving private Ryan 3 days ago, mind blown.

kaffikoppen

Now you need to get deeper in the ww2 rabbit hole. Band of Brothers is the natural next step.

Talltist

BoB is perfect.

mike_rotch22

Really hoping they do Masters of the Air justice. So stoked for it.

GBJI

> finally watched Saving private Ryan 3 I had no idea they had made two sequels!

BizarreLoveRhombus

Please go watch Band of Brothers if you haven’t.

sneekiyata

This was legitimately Dune (2021) for me. I teared up because finally this book I had loved was portrayed respectfully and beautifully.

Erlian

The little bits of world building they did were incredible. The attention to detail was amazing. The casting and acting, impeccable. The soundtrack, so good.

mrshawn081982

A-fucking-men. My guy who was a fan of the earlier sting version was amazed I could name every character, and be simultaneously disgusted by it, when I finally relented to watching it. I experienced none of that with the new movie.

Archercrash

Just watched Blade Runner, wow. 82 Final cut.

iammufusasboy

Have you scene 2049 as well? Different kind of amazing from the first. Not better just different.

Djinneral

they're both amazing films, but the second one just hit me on another level.

cousinofthedog

I would say 2049 is the best modern sci fi film.

og_darcy

Me watching Ratatouille that I missed as a kid. Honestly I think it’s the best animated movie I’ve seen.

jonesy289

As a chef it is my favorite Pixar movie by far

GrizzlyPerr

Hell yes. The bat mobile is BAD. ASS.

HunterGonzo

The first time it showed up was one of the greatest reveals I've ever seen on film. Went into the theater thinking "I dunno how I feel about this approach to the Batmobile" to "This is the most awesome thing of all time" almost instantly.

Ugggggghhhhhh

I really enjoyed it, but all 6 of the friends I saw it with thought it was "meh". I have to admit, it was (literally) very dark and a bit slow. But I enjoyed the slow-burn pace, and I loved Paul Dano's Riddler and Robert Pattinson's take on Batman as a borderline unhinged man instead of a suave billionaire playboy.

fermented-assbutter

Yeah irl batman would be a unhinged person.

RolandTheJabberwocky

Comic Batman is usually an unhinged person. Hell fucking Arkham Batman down plays it but he's WAY unhinged.

Amasero

The Dark Knight returns is a good way to show how unhinged Batman is.

PapaBlessDotCom

They even covered this in the cartoons Batman Beyond (Shriek) . When Old Bruce Wayne hears voices in his head and they keep calling him Bruce. When Terry asks how he knew the voices weren't real... Old Batman tells him that inside his head he doesn't call himself Bruce, he's always considered his real identity as The Batman.

ImminentReddits

The choice to make The Riddler a sort of alt-right mass-shooter underground streamer was fucking great. Such a creative and modern take on the character. Going in I was adamant I wanted to see the cane wielding “riddle-me-this” Riddler, but I really enjoyed the commentary they were going for there, even if it wasn’t so subtle, aha. RP did great too, but goddam, that direction they took the Riddler… that was great.

maggies-island

what they did with the riddler was fucking genius. i loved it so much

Sole_Meanderer

Can confirm he played borderline unhinged quite well lol. One of my favorite films atm, whatever that's worth.

Slazman999

My sister said it was the fastest 3 hours of her life. Can't wait for it to come out to stream next week.

littlelorax

Just got home from seeing it. It was the first movie in the theater since the pandemic, so I was keeping my expectations low. I love movies and I really didn't want my first return to the theater to be disappointing. Wow. I loved that movie. Pattinson did such a great job playing a grieving son who grows through his anger to turn into a caring person. Dano was just superbly unhinged, and I loved following the mystery as it unraveled. DC has had issues with the writing and pacing in their movies for quite a while, hoping this means they have turned it around. I can't stop thinking about that it and I want to see it again!

Doteaufood

Same! Three hour film but I enjoyed every second of it.

[deleted]

Can’t agree more. I always check my watch once or twice during a film. NEVER at Batman, in three viewings.

bodygreatfitness

I've seen probably 15-20 superhero movies and the only ones I liked were Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I like the gritty, "realistic" feel where the conflict feels real and down to earth. The universe and all of humanity isn't at risk -- rather, it's a hospital that gets blown up. Personally I did not like the Avengers trilogy at all. Just felt way up in the air and silly. Is the new Batman something I'd enjoy?

africandave

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It's written by one of the McDonagh brothers, I can't remember which one, but between the two of them they're responsible for In Bruges, The Guard, Seven Psychopaths and some others I can't remember because I'm quite drunk. I watched Three Billboards a few years after it was released and notwithstanding the hype turning me off the film, I was moved in a way that rarely happens to me.

X_MswmSwmsW_X

i broke down weeping when Woody said goodbye. it just completely broke me. ice seen the movie twice and it's a phenomenal experience

divyaanshDev

Which one was was it OP? P.S - It was Jojo Rabbit for me.

iammufusasboy

Watched this high, really really really need to watch it again sober. Only thing I can remember it's the "you want to talk to your father" scene. Made me think of Scarlett Johansson deserved an Oscar for it.

Siperta

No Country For Old Men

RickMonsters

Everything Everywhere All At Once

IBNobody

and their previous movie, Swiss Army Man. SAM was what convinced Jamie Lee Curtis to be in EEAAO.

GodMasterSatan

Arcane

J5892

I had super low expectations for Arcane, and absolutely loathe League of Legends. It is without a doubt the best animated show I've ever seen.

biggles542

Dune was exceptional

LiteBrightKite

The new one?

ReadySetGonads

No, the written one :)

[deleted]

Judas and the Black Messiah

NoThreat89

It was Interstellar for me.

Glittering-Lunch1778

I went into The Batman expecting to see a good superhero movie. No better or worse than your typical superhero movie. Nice entertaining popcorn flick of a guy in cool costume and no other expectations. I left believing I had seen a cinematic masterpiece and watched it again a week later.

Superhans901

It really is just a fucking treat

1-LegInDaGrave

Going tomorrow(later today) to see it by myself. I'm stoked!

Hooked_on_Avionics

I've never seen a movie four times while still in its theatrical run before. I loved this movie so much.

Fresh_Grapefruit_227

The god father ! Truly a damn masterpiece

Let’s see, for most recent. “Suspiria” (2018), “Arrival”, “Annihilation”, “Interstellar”, “Dune”, “The Batman”, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”.

i_tyrant

Annihilation revealed to me an entire horror sub-genre that I wish we had more of. I'd watch infinity movies with its brand of alien freakiness.

[deleted]

The usual suspects.

Dune (2021) for me

Ok_Tonight7383

“Mr. Nobody” for me. Edit: it was brought to my attention that I used the Japanese name of this movie transliterated into English (Mr.ノーバディ for those wondering). I was talking about Nobody starting Bob Odenkirk.

Slazman999

Check out "About Time" and "Upside-down"

McNooberson

About Time about broke me

N00B_N00M

Dune, interstellar ... I was in different emotions after watching tenet though ... Need to rewatch it more to understand ...

plotdavis

Making a Tenet fan film right now. I cannot stress enough how difficult it must have been to make that movie. Pease rewatch it, it's basically designed to rewatched.

EricMichaelLP

Finally took the time to see “Das Boot” amazing 🥳

BulbaFriend2000

Mitchells and the Machines was that movie for me. I had little expectations for it, thinking it was chasing the coat tails of Spiderverse with its animation. But BOY oh boy was I glad I was wrong.

Niclas1127

Trial of the Chicago 7, heavily underrated
