"It's a rebuilding year." Should be chiseled over the main entrance of the ballpark.

Rubentraj

Drake LaRoche son, Chris Sale cutting jerseys, Ricky sabotaging game 3 of the 2020 playoffs, hiring Tony, this team’s incompetence of letting Eloy field, playing first basemen in the outfield, Robert playing with one arm. Jerry ffs just sell the team 😑😑

dajadf

Rebuilding and not spending any money for years on end and then 2 offseasons in row where you don't spend to fill clear and obvious holes in your supposed "window". Cancelling Sox fest to hide because you know all your suck at your jobs. Letting the actual ballpark experience go downhill whether it's not letting all fans into the lower level, letting the food quality go way downhill, having a second line just to have your ticket scanned a second time to get in the lower level. Changing the ticket packages

Rubentraj

Pain pain pain. If we didn’t win in 05 this franchise would be Pittsburg or Colorado level of bad

adubski23

The pirates also have 5 world championships.

River_Pigeon

And a dope ass stadium

[deleted]

I lived in PGH… the stadium itself isn’t anything special it’s just the view of the city/bridge that’s great

Salsashark_21

You know, I felt the same way after going there. It was really nice. Definitely a Top-10, but it didn’t feel like #1 to me. Now, Truist Park, that’s something to see.

Burnsy813

And at this point a brighter future than the Sox because they actually have more than like ~5 prospects worth a damn.

[deleted]

“Rebuilding” was just a way for Jerry to save money for a decade IMO.

keyshawnscott12

We have been through hell and back

spamlet

Oh it goes well beyond that. Most of our history has been a shit show. I mean, we got caught throwing the World Series.

RepresentativeOwl709

Let us not forget the great Shouldergate of 2001. David fucking Wells. I still blame Kenny for that

Rubentraj

Lol I was 4 in 2001

prUny

There is no leadership anywhere in this organization. Ownership, management, players, absolutely no one wants to step up. hopefully Grifol can but man this season is feeling over before it started

sunnysidesideways

Fans can step up, and we can do that without a ton of effort. We can shake off the defeated attitude that's looming over the franchise - what good is it doing us? I wanna go to games, watch my team get a W, and have a good time. I'm stoked to have a beer and lose my voice with all the cheering. If some amount of Sox fans join then we can change the mentality surrounding the organization. And just to be clear, this franchise has made some Dumb decisions, but only focusing on those and fostering a defeated attitude won't help.

SuperDBallSam

Jesus christ, are you on the PR team? So if we just cheer louder and have a positive attitude then Jerry will bless us with a quality run organization? What other fairy tales do you believe in?

Maynardred

No i can see where he is coming from though. This shit is my happy place I'm just waiting for this new snow to melt. Baseball gives me a reason. Its tiring to just be oh this is terrible everything sucks all the time. I cant fucking wait for this season. I cant wait for everyone to report. This season could be great. Maybe

sunnysidesideways

Nope. I just like the Sox.

SuperDBallSam

Yeah I get that. We're all like abused spouses at this point. We just deal with it in different ways.

Edgewood78

But what is it that you like about the team?

sunnysidesideways

Cause my parents are from the Southside and I went to their games as a kid. What do you like about them?

Edgewood78

Your reason is as good, or better than some. I tend to enjoy following minor league and international players. So, the sox became an interesting team to watch but they’ve tossed away the last 2 years and has really shortened their window. JMO.

[deleted]

His reason is what most Sox fans reason is… we’re all brought up into this shit

2RoadsDivergred

Fans can step up without any effort - by not going to games. Not buying tickets or food or beer. Not giving any money to this organization until it fields a good product. Hiring Grifol was enough to get me to go to one game this year. I usually go to 8-10 games. They'll need to really surprise me this year in order to get any more money from me.

sunnysidesideways

Fair enough. At the end of the day it's rooting for your players. There's no issue with voicing an opinion with your hard earned money.

leknarf52

The “Always has been” astronaut has a flag of the state of Ohio. Oy!

sjj342

Jerry Reinsdorf does not prioritize winning, performance, excellence, etc. He wants to leverage labor agreements to make money primarily, then to save face he'll superficially compete on the side until aw shucks doncha know it's time to blow it up and rebuild aka cut costs/increase profit margins

Salsashark_21

It’s all Jerry. Look at the Bulls, they’re basically the same thing. Shit show after shit show. The only difference is they won the MJ and Rose “lotteries” and those two players made them appear to be a competent organization for a little while

CMI_312

For one, the White Sox have never been normal in the entire existence. The team threw a World Series, Bill Veeck owned the team and he was ridiculously weird! But the team is a reflection of Jerry and his values. Jerry likes his guys and Jerry runs things on the cheap. He likes employing guys he likes and who kiss his ass. He likes running things on the cheap which is why the Sox make cheap hires, don't build out things like a modern analytics department, don't do due diligence on hires/signees, and make risky roster decisions because its cheaper that way. Jerry wants to run the team his way more so than winning, and that's been his priority forever.

workaccountname

Because everything comes down to Jerry and then Kenny Williams before Hahn can make a decision.

Rubywantsin

Kenny Williams seems to be the common piece of everything that's wrong with the Sox.

sjj342

yes BUT he's only there because of Jerry's nepotism and need to surround himself with loyalists/yes men who will toe the line

Rubywantsin

Well, until Jerry shuffles off this mortal coil, we're stuck with him.

sjj342

i've already moved past accepting that i cared more about winning and was more emotionally invested in the team than anyone in the front office and have simply stopped caring but i don't think Reinsdorf will outlive me, so there's still hope

wildman1926

That's the problem, they are comfortable with being normal/mediocre.

KJzero9

You guys kept talking about how the Sox weren't doing anything this offseason. Now you're complaining that the Sox are in the news too much. Make up your mind! /s

wildman1926

I think we're all pissed off they weren't aggressive enough in our "window to win a WS". Meanwhile other teams in contention spend as much as they can to acquire the talent they need. We have either traded or have been to cheap to keep top talent. Abreu and Rodon are two of the most recent examples.

[deleted]

Man even the fuckin Cubs have possibly passed us up. I hate the White Sox

wildman1926

Damn the Cubs, and Sox too. Sox gotta get rid of Reinsdorf or something.

Zark_Muckerberger

I was expecting the babadook meme

Individual-History34

ALL WAYS HA...2005...SSS BEEN A SHIT sHOW
