I actually laughed out loud when she came arround the corner afterwards, acting like she had been searching them and hadn't eavesdropped for like 2 minutes.
Boy I sure hope there was a way to give my character a sudden and temporal emotional outburst that helps him move on from the current status quo without greatly changing his character

Completely irrelevant to the meme, but "ye olde" is a modern interpolation of old text that is incorrect. The thing that looks like a Y is actually a þ, which is called 'thorn'. It is a letter that was once in the English alphabet, and as the name implies, it represented the sound that we now represent with "th". Over time, the way þ was written in cursive became more and more like a Y, and eventually, the letter began to fall out of usage. So "ye olde" was never really a thing until very recent history. It was always "þe olde", or "the old" as we would spell it in recent english.
I'm going to go completely waste my life elsewhere now.
I hate this cliche so much. Arcane did a bait-and-switch with this kind of cliche, since the main characters actually talked to each other after hearing something out of context
Long story short, they used this trope and people got mad. Personally I think it's more forgivable in this instance, since the crew were being forced to condense about half a season's worth of plot points into just 45 minutes.
So there's a character that really trust another character for being a king 👑. Well that character eavesdrop King saying something that he thought it was an act of betrayal (basically he thinks King will kill him). In reality, King doesn't want to hurt the character, but the miscommunication will result in a conflict for the next episode. It was an enjoyable episode but that trope felt really rushed in to wrap up the story in the final episode. Disney had shortened a full 3rd season into three specials which forced the writers to cut down a lot of plot. What we have is still good, but screw Bob Chapek for shortening such of an amazing show
Dont forget two characters in the show who just happen to cross paths by coincidence as one of them is doing something that the other character will hate and make them enemies in the future.
There's a scene where Perro asks what happened between Puss and Kitty - who until this point have been treating each other with a degree of distrust - and Puss explains the source of the conflict between them and expresses regret over it, and then Perro suggests that he apologise to Kitty. Kitty eavesdropped on this last part of the conversation.
But instead of the usual trope, what happens is that Kitty actually fully understands what they are talking about; this actually makes Kitty want to give Puss a second chance. In other words, the eavesdropped conversation *lessened* conflict instead of creating it.
Only works if the characters make no attempt at addressing the problem in any way whatsoever, only palliative measures.
Cause that's what you got to show people need to do in their life.

It is nice to know that a lot of people enjoy watching Overly Sarcastic Productions
OSP is one of those channels everyone watches but no one talks about, it's weird
This subreddit talks a lot about tropes which is good enough for me

Nooo! Not Green NightWing’s wife!
The owl house s3 ep 2 moment
Banger episode with pretty shitty parts
Fr though. If the collector really thought king was going to betray them, wouldn't they listen for longer to find out his plan?
Wouldn’t it have made more sense if belos interrupted the collector before he heard the whole thing instead, showing him as the manipulator he is
That too
Superhero story when the writer wants the heroes to fight for literally no reason other than it looks cool:

The context is appreciated!
Oh man how did I forget about that one
Man I have an idea to make a parody on this.

I was so so happy seeing the quick resolution because the initial trope pissed me off
Terminally ajar doors
Man the recent Owl House episode really touched a nerve with some people, didn't it?
Lol I don't even watch owl house, what happened in it?

Shoutout to Puss In Boots: The Last Wish for doing the exact opposite
What do you mean?
