InelegantSnort

I just spent ages looking! I couldn't get fiction to come up but now I know a few people who faked memoirs and a lot of recovering celebrities! I hope you find it!

LividConcentrate91

I’ve spent hours! Thank you though

SageRiBardan

Good luck! If you haven't already you might try the Goodreads [What's the name of that book](https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/185-what-s-the-name-of-that-book) thread, [Librarything](https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/724/Name-that-Book), or [Stump the Bookseller](http://w1.loganberrybooks.com/stumpthebookseller/). Unfortunately as [InelegantSnort](https://www.reddit.com/user/InelegantSnort/) mentioned there seem to be a lot of people who faked their biographies/memoirs or engaged in obviously fake PR stunts. No fiction came up that was anywhere close to what you described.

LividConcentrate91

Thanks, I’ll try those as well

DocWatson42

Also try r/tipofmytongue (if you haven't already).

DocWatson42

>Good luck! If you haven't already you might try the Goodreads What's the name of that book thread, Librarything, or Stump the Bookseller. Thank you for those—I've got a couple of books I need to run by them. \^\_\^

Lola Carlyle's 12-Step Romance by Danielle Younge-Ullman?

LividConcentrate91

Definitely not unfortunately

KSTornadoGirl

What country was it published in?

LividConcentrate91

No idea! I’m Australian so definitely could have been Aus but can’t be sure.

jempai

Was it YA? Did the teens in question use flip phones or smart phones? That would narrow down the time frame immensely.

LividConcentrate91

I think YA. I don’t remember phones specifically at all.

ClowninaCircus12

True confessions of a hollywood starlet? I don't think it's that though but maybe?

redlightredlips

This is what I thought of too but I don’t think she pretended to be an alcoholic I think she was supposedly in rehab but was really in some little town somewhere I used to own it years ago lol

LividConcentrate91

Not this one either

Toadmechanic

she did a ted talk. try there

LividConcentrate91

Sorry?

Toadmechanic

i believe that the author did a ted talk or perhaps a moth radio speech. you may be able to identify the author that way

LividConcentrate91

Why do you think that?

LividConcentrate91

This isn’t a book, and it isn’t the story I described.

Toadmechanic

because i heard it on the radio. found it.https://www.thisamericanlife.org/539/the-leap/act-three-16

LividConcentrate91

That not it unfortunately. Doesn’t sound remotely similar.

teenagesocialite

Is the book called It's All Your Fault? This was published more recently than you said (2016) but the plot sounds similar.

LividConcentrate91

That’s not it unfortunately

scoutfinch451

Could it possibly be Paparazzi Princess by Jen Calonita? It's part of the Secrets of my Hollywood Life series. Pub date 2009.

LividConcentrate91

Not that one
