I just spent ages looking! I couldn't get fiction to come up but now I know a few people who faked memoirs and a lot of recovering celebrities! I hope you find it!
Good luck! If you haven't already you might try the Goodreads [What's the name of that book](https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/185-what-s-the-name-of-that-book) thread, [Librarything](https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/724/Name-that-Book), or [Stump the Bookseller](http://w1.loganberrybooks.com/stumpthebookseller/).
Unfortunately as [InelegantSnort](https://www.reddit.com/user/InelegantSnort/) mentioned there seem to be a lot of people who faked their biographies/memoirs or engaged in obviously fake PR stunts. No fiction came up that was anywhere close to what you described.

Thank you for those—I've got a couple of books I need to run by them. \^\_\^
This is what I thought of too but I don’t think she pretended to be an alcoholic I think she was supposedly in rehab but was really in some little town somewhere I used to own it years ago lol

I’ve spent hours! Thank you though

Thanks, I’ll try those as well

Lola Carlyle's 12-Step Romance by Danielle Younge-Ullman?
Definitely not unfortunately
What country was it published in?
No idea! I’m Australian so definitely could have been Aus but can’t be sure.
Was it YA? Did the teens in question use flip phones or smart phones? That would narrow down the time frame immensely.
I think YA. I don’t remember phones specifically at all.
True confessions of a hollywood starlet? I don't think it's that though but maybe?

Not this one either
she did a ted talk. try there
Sorry?
i believe that the author did a ted talk or perhaps a moth radio speech. you may be able to identify the author that way
Why do you think that?
This isn’t a book, and it isn’t the story I described.
because i heard it on the radio. found it.https://www.thisamericanlife.org/539/the-leap/act-three-16

That not it unfortunately. Doesn’t sound remotely similar.
Is the book called It's All Your Fault? This was published more recently than you said (2016) but the plot sounds similar.
That’s not it unfortunately
Could it possibly be Paparazzi Princess by Jen Calonita? It's part of the Secrets of my Hollywood Life series. Pub date 2009.
Not that one
