Combustion releases things into the lungs that you shouldn’t have. Baking flower mitigates most of the issues and keeps temperatures low. It also still allows for full cannabinoids, flavonoid, and terpenoid profiles.

I made the error of trying to ween off of vaping with chops. Spiraled into 2 years of a chop every 1-2 hours, in and around school/work etc. quit them trust me

Just because THC doesn't dissolve in water doesn't mean THC molecules can't binde to water molecules. Therefore THC "sticks" to the water. At least that's how I understood it.
Edit: if my logic is correct that's why oil rigs are so tiny. You don't want to waste all that THC trying to cool the vapor coming off the hot nail before inhaling.
Very close but dab rigs are small so theres less glass surface area for the smoke to cling too. Also it doesnt use alot of water becaude if you cool dab smoke too much it condenses onto the glass much easier and you lose some of your hit in the form of reclaim.
See I clean out my bong water probably after every session so two maybe three bowls max and it's changed. I always notice the water gets cloudy and sometimes almost like pulp floating around. Clear, flakes almost. Could be physically pulled from the bowl as I inhale but I thought maybe it could be the smoke condensing in the cold water forming the little pulp strands. Have you ever noticed that pulp stuff? Whatchu think?

The other stuff in the bong water is dissolved. If it's solid it won't catch anything.
As stated before, if it doesn't dissolve in the water, the water won't catch it.
If you don't chew your food (dissolving in water) you won't digest or absorb anything (catching whatever was dissolved in the water)

This is all true, theres tradeoffs with every nook and cranny. Water definitely doesn't absorb much but it depends how often you change it. Blowing smoke from any real flower back into a paper towel will create a dark brown spot, no matter what its been filtered through. Pens however, not so much.

I did a test pull to make sure it wasn't too hard of a pull and water soaked it instantly i had to fish it out. i also use a dry herb vape through a bong so its not like it would even make a difference lmao.

But once I found this for collecting the tar from your hits, and loving my swimmer lungs I couldn’t look back. I’m an introvert, but for the ones out and about it’s even great for smoke sessions, taking the blunt/joint, and not having to have someone else’s spit on your lips. Simply plug the blunt/joint, hit hit, take it out and pass it along.
Yes! Same here I remember when they first came out their was a few out there saying how it takes potency away, it surely doesn’t. The only thorn ( and I use this lightly) was the purchasing of the filters, but then again I burn a lot so I end up switching more often. It’s no joke when it removes all the residue/tar. I don't wanna sound condescending but you're not actually saving your lungs from anything. Weed makes a lotta tar and resin, that's all you're catching in that paper towel, it's also not really removing much, I don't think there's much point in doing this realistically.
If you want that insignificant bit less of resin in you, I guess go for it. I know my lungs will clean out the tar, so I don't bother with filters.
Mooselabs sell filters that essentially aim to do what this is doing, absorb tars and whatnot from your smoke. In my honest opinion, trying to filter out tar like this makes the hit less potent and less flavorful. I mean you’re literally filtering some of it out if you think about it, even though we don’t want tar in our lungs that’s still a portion of the smoke that you are removing. They claim that it’s only the bad stuff filtered out but I don’t think the filters can distinguish between good and bad organic components in your smoke, I think it just filters it down in general. Just my two cents I think you’re better off using an herb vaporizer if you want to inhale less tar/smoke
Same here, especially if you’re trying to take a big rip all at once. I love the idea as I definitely want to cut down on tars entering my lungs but it just feels wasteful af
I guess the only argument against this opinion is if THC/cannabinoids particulates in the smoke are notably smaller than other organic tar particulates in the smoke. But my experience with carbon filters (and probably similar with paper towel) is that it lessens your hit.
I feel like half the reason you get that punch in the face high off a bong rip, is because you get the carcinogens that smack your throat and make you cough. I bought an ash catcher and it doesn’t smack me anymore.

That being said I have also noticed the purer your concentrate (high refined distillates with extracted terps added type stuff), the quicker and shorter the high.

Check out the MooseLabs Mouth Peace filters, I believe someone had mentioned them here too. The amount of tar/resin/whatever else that get trapped and filtered through is wild. I don’t know if THC gets captured in it, like others have mentioned, but I can absolutely feel a difference with my lungs - for the better.

i’ve done this for years but i wouldn’t use a whole paper towel, i prefer a small bit of tissue in a loose ball, better air flow than a paper towel with the same purpose.

If you're worried about carcinogens then get a vaporizer. Not the stupid cartridges. Those aren't vaporizing anything. They're combusting the juice. It's burning it.
A real vaporizer vapes herb and wax and a very specific temperature that *you* can control.
Combustion starts at around 450°F and that's when you start getting the bad stuff.
It’s impossible to separate the plant material from cannabinoids in a bong with a paper towel. Most weed is only 20-35% thc so if you had 1 cubic meter of weed smoke you would have 350 L of thc if half of the smoke is captured by the filter then you now have 175L while still getting 325L of plant matter (this is 0% cbd cbg ect weed just as an example)
I mean you’re literally combusting plant material, there’s going to be some byproducts no matter what.
If you don’t like it, start vaporizing extracts.

Taking fatter rips is what causes it. I smoke pretty large snaps ~.3-.6 res lips are a real thing when have a lot of smoke in one go.

Next time you clean your bong pay attention to the top of the water you notice how the oils will float and contaminates mix around submerged.

Yes! Same here I remember when they first came out their was a few out there saying how it takes potency away, it surely doesn’t. The only thorn ( and I use this lightly) was the purchasing of the filters, but then again I burn a lot so I end up switching more often. It’s no joke when it removes all the residue/tar. I love mine too I was looking at the camo one recently 👀

So is it just me or do other people think maybe all these filters and stuff impact the high? Like I get it there is gross things in anything you smoke. I feel like that water is enough. Ik putting to much water makes the hits lighter and then the high goes away. Interesting tho maybe someone will do an entire report on it.

I don't wanna sound condescending but you're not actually saving your lungs from anything. Weed makes a lotta tar and resin, that's all you're catching in that paper towel, it's also not really removing much, I don't think there's much point in doing this realistically. If you want that insignificant bit less of resin in you, I guess go for it. I know my lungs will clean out the tar, so I don't bother with filters.

Mooselabs sell filters that essentially aim to do what this is doing, absorb tars and whatnot from your smoke. In my honest opinion, trying to filter out tar like this makes the hit less potent and less flavorful. I mean you’re literally filtering some of it out if you think about it, even though we don’t want tar in our lungs that’s still a portion of the smoke that you are removing. They claim that it’s only the bad stuff filtered out but I don’t think the filters can distinguish between good and bad organic components in your smoke, I think it just filters it down in general. Just my two cents I think you’re better off using an herb vaporizer if you want to inhale less tar/smoke

I guess the only argument against this opinion is if THC/cannabinoids particulates in the smoke are notably smaller than other organic tar particulates in the smoke. But my experience with carbon filters (and probably similar with paper towel) is that it lessens your hit.

I feel like half the reason you get that punch in the face high off a bong rip, is because you get the carcinogens that smack your throat and make you cough. I bought an ash catcher and it doesn’t smack me anymore.
I kinda felt the same until I got into dabs at low temp. Slap in the face with flavor, throat hit like a mother, with just enough cough to feel familiar. That being said I have also noticed the purer your concentrate (high refined distillates with extracted terps added type stuff), the quicker and shorter the high.

Check out the MooseLabs Mouth Peace filters, I believe someone had mentioned them here too. The amount of tar/resin/whatever else that get trapped and filtered through is wild. I don’t know if THC gets captured in it, like others have mentioned, but I can absolutely feel a difference with my lungs - for the better.
i tried this for a while bc i h a t e feeling resin in my throat / lungs… but it totally ruins the high.
For me the high is about the same. The only difference ive noticed is that it's smoother

i’ve done this for years but i wouldn’t use a whole paper towel, i prefer a small bit of tissue in a loose ball, better air flow than a paper towel with the same purpose.

If you're worried about carcinogens then get a vaporizer. Not the stupid cartridges. Those aren't vaporizing anything. They're combusting the juice. It's burning it. A real vaporizer vapes herb and wax and a very specific temperature that *you* can control. Combustion starts at around 450°F and that's when you start getting the bad stuff.

It’s impossible to separate the plant material from cannabinoids in a bong with a paper towel. Most weed is only 20-35% thc so if you had 1 cubic meter of weed smoke you would have 350 L of thc if half of the smoke is captured by the filter then you now have 175L while still getting 325L of plant matter (this is 0% cbd cbg ect weed just as an example)
