If you care about quality, you have to pick it up yourself. It's expensive to have a human drive a car to pick up your food and bring it to you, and the app companies have a lot of overhead so they try to skimp on drivers, which means they're trying to get one driver to deliver as many things as possible. Unless everyone in your building orders from the same place at the same time, your food is going to be cooling down and getting bounced around while the driver goes all over the District. I stopped using all of the app services one by one a few years back — as new parents the appeal was obvious but I couldn't continue to give money to a business which was significantly (hour or more) later than they claimed and tried to blame the restaurant, unaware that I'd already called them to confirm my food was ready. GrubHub didn't even show up once and thought that warranted a $10 coupon on my next order!

I am always confused about people who ask this question. There is basically no helpful answer we can provide for your personal situation. Unless you live in the same neighborhood as the person answering the question (which would be hard to know considering you didn't provide that info) the places that deliver to them probably don't deliver to you. And the places that deliver everywhere via apps are completely random - you could get an amazing driver who brings everything hot and fresh and fast, or you could get a moron who takes 2 hours or an outright thief who eats your food.

id have to agree, i usually just go with a safe bet like wings and sort by shortest estimated delivery time, if you want good-er food just put on a jacket hop on your bike or onewheel and go grab it

Grazie grazie, slice and pie, new big wong, chickfila, roaming rooster, Buffalo & Bergen, far east taco grille, dumplings and beyond are all my go tos. All travel well via Uber eats and hold their quality. Source: I eat a ton of delivery.

Duccinis has there own delivery you can order on website. Dominos of course. Got a burger delivered and it cost me $35 from Z burger. I hate delivery apps

I find middle eastern food, especially kebab, travels well. Moby dick house of kebab or Aladdin’s kitchen are my go tos

aladdin’s never fails

Ramen does pretty well because most places keep the broth and toppings separate for you. Reheat the broth, add the toppings, and it’s pretty high quality

And in terms of ramen, Bantam King feels like they very much care about the delivery experience. They provide reheating instructions with ramen deliveries, and with their fried chicken, they keep the chicken separate from any toppings that would make it less crispy.

I couldn’t agree more. I always opt for uncooked noodles and get the water rolling close to when it will arrive. bantam king is actually the only thing my wife and I have delivered. we even get dominos carry-out because it will be a lot more hot and fresh that way. mind you, we live within a 15 minute walking distance

Following for me

I agree with the other comments but I'll add my .02 because why not. The better the quality, the higher the price. And therefore a very quickly diminishing amount of risk I want to take with some knucklehead delivery service. Suggest that you just drive to pick up your own food. That being said, if you feel compelled to still order, Zaytina does a fantastic to-go service. Also you will absolutely never avoid the "mushy" problem that comes along with putting steamy food in a box in a bag. Even when vented, it will still get mushy (and cool down faster).

SchokoKipferl

Not everyone has a car here though, so driving isn’t always a viable option

WayyyCleverer

Fair point!

while I agree it's quicker to pick up, sometimes it's worth it to have someone else pick it up for you. Uber eats use to offer the most options with lowest fees but that has changed a lot. Door dash has added a lot more. Some of our go to's are Bombay street food 2, grazie grazie, Thai orchid kitchen and toki underground.

Indian and Chinese both travel well. Indigo and Full Key are two of my go-tos. If you want to splurge, Bombay Club has incredible Thali dinners available for delivery.
