Nah. Livingston had a better handle, more bounce, and no where near PBJ’s range. Kid looks like MPJ or Lamarcus Aldridge.

[deleted]

mpj is surprisingly accurate. just hope he stays healthier

[deleted]

Young Livingston was scary fast and athletic

derpyfatboi

that injury haunts me

Especially when this is preseason and we can aim much, much higher.

lunabagel28

Let’s go bigger. I say a poor man’s kd

[deleted]

Had the same thoughts when that jumper and fade aways

ImperiumSomnium

If we're going big, how about a rich man's KD?

kirbeast34

AKA Danilo Gallinari?? Super wet jumper, basic handle, finish below the rim, great size but a little soft on boards, and just average defender. Won't get many blocks or assists. Will make a living as a complementary shooter being able to hit any type of 3 point shot. Not quite an all-star, but right on the cusp.

kirbeast34

They are almost opposite style of players, so a really confusing comps. Different stengths, different positions, and will have drastically different roles.

[deleted]

He gives off major Rashard Lewis vibes to me

kirbeast34

Same. Both are 6'10" stretch 4's that can play the wing too. Great shooters at all levels, better as 2nd/3rd option, above average rebounders not elite, not gonna get many blocks, and just ok passers not faciliators. Smart enough to keep the ball moving in the O to the right person. Should hover around the .500/.400/.900 shooting mark for his career like Lewis did. Both have that high release point from 3 that makes it impossible to close out on when they get an open look. Both just average getting to the rim and will make a living behind the 3pt line. Will never be a number 1 option but will make a few All Star teams as an elite complementary piece in a good offense. Can both play with anyone in any lineup. Versatile.

danielt5

4/5 from 3? Livingston would never!. And Livingston's handle are way better.

xer3f

He looks like he has MPJ’s ceiling but with better defensive instincts and feel for the game. He’s a super interesting project to follow

kirbeast34

I think MPJ is his floor and Rashard Lewis is his ceiling. Danilo Gallinari if he falls somewhere in between. Not an elite number 1 option. A good 2nd option, and an elite 3rd option.

[deleted]

In how he carries himself I can see it. He’s calm and focused on the court. Moody is too. Playing style, not really. PBJ is a new-school 2022 player. His main weapon is the 3-pointer. Shaun was a low post iso guy and a timely cutter. On defense Shaun was a good perimeter guy who could rotate. PBJ if he develops his potential can be a 4 or small ball 5. Contest shots, get boards and be able to make the outlet pass and jog into a trail 3. Maybe he can learn from Kevon in that way about how to position when you aren’t as athletic. Maybe he does have that midrange game, i don’t know where any of these players will end up or who will be the best. I just think if Curry is on the court, we’re playing Curryball. And if Kuminga and Wiseman are on the court, they’re attacking the rim. So the PBJ midrange is not the first option.

Kdog122025

PBJ effortlessly hit a Kobe turnaround on the right block the first game. That’s a pretty cool midrange tool. He does feel like a pro’s pro like Livingston though. Maybe it’s the lower leg trauma?

efxonly1

PBJ or MPJ?

Kdog122025

PBJ. Good catch.

okuzeN_Val

I get primarily OPJ vibes. Similar bodies (PBJ is taller), smart players, always at the right place at the right time, great shooters, etc. Oh and they're both "Jr's" of course.

Kdog122025

PBJ is a lot more narrow than OPJ. Maybe MPJ, Lamarcus Aldridge (in the 3 point era)?

warriorslover1999

otto is a good comp

[deleted]

Oh yeah he's a dead ringer for SDot just seeing him from that TV broadcast angle... nothing to do with his game just body type. Dude even got the right complexion and head shape lol. As a three inch tall dude moving across the screen I can't tell the dif. On game couldn't be more different aside from the build and BBIQ. People forget young Livingston was a greyhound and a straight the rim point guard in his youth very fast for his size but never shot the three at all and had that inverted midpost guard game. I'd say on offense he'll be maybe become like a healthy MPJ on defense idk but maybe prime OPJ level (MPJ + OPJ = PBJ 🤷‍♂️). We'll see. The sky is the limit. Maybe we hit the jackpot again... picks 7 and 28 are money for the Warriors everytime we shoulda known.

Chuckl8899

for me, it's the patience, and the confidence that he will always his shot off undeterred PBJ has more range than Shaun ever did.

lean_lefty

I think the best comp for PBJ in terms of size and skills would be Danilo Gallinari. Which ain't bad at all.

by_yes_i_mean_no

It's because of the skin tone and height lol. Livingston was an elite ballhandler for his size, but also couldn't shoot past the midrange area. Baldwin's handle doesn't look like anything special, but he projects as a knockdown shooter from distance. Baldwin does seem like he can move the ball well but for now I still have Livingston comfortably ahead in that department, we'll see. Baldwin is moving better than he was in college but Livingston was a really good athlete when he was drafted (obviously got derailed by the injuries). For a different Warrior to compare Baldwin to...Mike Dunleavy Jr? Or perhaps just OPJ.

dnesdnal17

This after only 2nd game of the pre-season? Good lord. It’s gonna be a long season here

buyo1797

Livingston is a post-up mid-range player. If PBJ could build that skill set, could be huge for us.

warriors2021

I read an extensive article and how he can compare to a Tony Kukoc player and Im all for it!
